Smash The Parents

Warning: Spoilers
Broadway legend Bernadette Peters came back to the show to work even closer with Megan Hilty playing Marilyn's mother in Bombshell. Hilty and Peters were good together once again and their song performance together was one of the good moments to the episode because it was the chance to hear Peters sing. That was the Bombshell part of the episode and going to the Hitlist part means having a worse time as Karen's father (the great Dylan Baker) coming back and messing things up for the bad love triangle of Derek, Jimmy and Karen. The diva performance at the benefit was nice to watch seeing all the tricks even though they were mostly done to some bad vocals. A good episode of the show but still the biggest problem with the show is that it makes the smallest things bigger then they deserve to be. Two good original songs and Peters returning make an episode that can at least be watched.

EPISODE GRADE: C (MVP: Bernadette Peters)

Warning: Spoilers
This episode certainly does concentrate on parents. Our new director of "Bombshell" sure shows what he is made of in his way to extract great performances from Ivy, and Bernadette Peters, Ivy's mother, who is brought into the show to play Marilyn's (Ivy's) mother.

When he sees that they're not putting enough drama in their performances, he gets them to bring up things about each other that will ensue conflict and anger, which he is looking for. It's a bold idea which works when Peters belts out a great song in a wonderful way.

Does Collins have a drug problem? It sure looks that way. I hope that tragedy doesn't follow which would allow Derrick back into the life of Karen. I'm just guessing here.
