The Drunk Train (#7.16)

Fun stuff. I loved the drunk train. The scenes on it were just hilarious. Especially the "do you think you are better than me?" thing. I was pretty annoyed when they started making Barney fall in love again. Barney doesn't have that much love to feel it all the time!!!! But at the same time I like the twist they made with the girl. Not an annoying goody two shoes like Nora, but a stripper. And from the club he always goes to, which explains why she knew so much.

Robin and Kevin weren't doing it for me. Nothing against the actor but the character was also too bland for the show. and Robin wanting to marry him, so fast...What the hell is wrong with her...

Another twist in the tale? Well, maybe. Rather than beating around the bush with some odd jokes (as it was the case with the other episodes of season 7), this episode seems to be a major turning point for "how i met your mother" lovers to watch out for.

Still, "Aunt Robin" seems the key word to be deciphered. Yes, Ted pairing with Robin is again coming up. Look out for some development in Barney's character. Now I can eagerly wait for the next episode hoping that some suspense may be cracked.

I'm happy that after 15 frustrating episodes in season 7, how i met your mother is opening up a wee bit.

Whilst this episode is a step up in quality from the previous one, I'm disappointed to see them that the show seems to be going backwards in relation to certain characters.

Plot In A Paragraph: Kevin and Robin join Marshall and Lily on a romantic weekend break, where Kevin proposes to Robin, but Robin feels she can't say yes, until she tells him she can't have children. Meanwhile, Barney and Ted find the easiest way to score girls, after Lily and Marshall tell them about the "drunk train" to Long Island, but Barney is not his usual self.

I said in my review of the last episode, that the show may have ran out of ideas, and the episode ending with Ted telling Robin he loved her, is like the show going back to season one and repeating itself.

If Robin was to get back with an ex, I'd rather it was Barney, as I found them to be a much better couple, and with Robin still having feelings for him earlier in the season, I thought that's how it would pan out.

I said a review a few episodes back, that I don't care what he said, Ted was clearly still in love with Robin, and the end of this episode proves it. Ted always talks about "the one" and "the mother of his children" and he is willing to give up his dream of kids to be with Robin.

A major plus point of this episode is that it looks like Kal Penn has ended his disastrous spell on the show.

Warning: Spoilers
After 15 'Not so appealing' episodes of How i met your mother in season 7, Episode 16 brought another hopeless twist in the tale... Ted & Robin again coming back in action and this shows that writers have nothing left to think and deliver ( No offence).

Anyways, WE knew relationship of Kevin and Robin wouldn't last long but if they are breaking up and robin is getting back with ted then i put my money back on kevin and robin. It seems that they writers aren't sure of who the mother is and if robin on the other hand is aunt cum mother then this show is already on the path of its downfall..

Hope they think of something new and get robin and Barney back together or someone else. My opinion on ted and robin- 'Boringgggggggg'. All the best to the writers cuz they need that in abundance.

( No offence)

A notch up, finally.

Warning: Spoilers
I posted a review on the previous episode about the Beekeeper, and I am grateful that this episode has had the season finally going somewhere. Although not as funny as how I'd like it to be, it was a major development for at least 3 main characters. What I did not see coming was the twist in the end and if this goes on like how I see it to be, it would be contradictory to some of the previous episodes: the fact that Ted referred Robin to his kids as 'Aunt Robin'.

Nevertheless I'm glad that this episode has made some sort of progress in its main plot. Contradictory or not I would definitely be tuning in to find out the outcome of Barney's potential crush and especially what happens next between Ted and Robin. Hope that the content of upcoming episodes(whats left of the season anyway) would make me laugh as hard as I did for some, and not stray away like it did for many previous episodes in season 7. What we needed was suspense, drama, and development, not pointless humor and stalling. This episode did indeed make up for a substantial amount of progression that was suppose to be due much, much more earlier than this.

Coming back fast to its original awesomeness

Warning: Spoilers
MY THOUGHTS: - I was very satisfied at the end of this episode, which I had started watching with high hopes. My favorite series is quickly ameliorating from its quality crisis!

  • The much awaited return of some new 'Barney-ism' is what I loved the most. The episode reintroduces, quite strongly, several of the classic elements of the HIMYM vein that make us love this series so much.

  • Moreover, after its first couple of episodes, the main story had started losing focus in the seventh season. If I go into detail, I may risk a spoiler, so I'll just say this: the best thing about this episode is that the overarching story takes a more definite shape.

  • It seems that for the past few episodes before this one, the writers had lost their heart from this series, because this episode is totally like one of those in the first few seasons that were surprising, amusing, funny, emotional, and replete with 'Barney-ism'. But this episode recompenses ardent fans and general viewers alike for the chaotic departure from the original charm of the show.

CONCLUSION: Go ahead! Watch this episode. I'm not saying it's a perfect 10 like the first and second seasons, but it definitely signals that they're bringing back HIMYM's A-game.
