A good opening to a series that could go either way
Tweekums5 October 2012
Warning: Spoilers
This opening episode introduces us to its protagonist Sam Hunter by throwing us straight into the action… in the prologue we see her dispatching numerous assailants, rescuing a man from a building and getting shot in the gut in Tangier. The action then moves forwards a year and she is getting back to fighting fitness in Scotland; she then goes to London to ask for her old job back. She worked for a private security firm and they are initially unsure whether to take her back but as she was their best operative it isn't long before they accept her and she is on her first mission; to gain the trust of the son of a wealthy businessman who's been involved in some shady deals in the past. If that wasn't enough she believes somebody, quite possibly her ex, betrayed her in Tangier.

Things got off to a promising start with lots of action; quickly establishing that Sam could handle herself in very dangerous situations. The action looked great and the story was pretty taut for the most part; I was a little unsure about the relationship with her ex though as their conversations seemed a little too scripted. Melissa George did a good job in the leading role although I wasn't too surprised as I'd seen her do similar scenes in Season Three of 'Alias'.

Nothing was really resolved by the end of the episode and plenty of questioned were raised; from the look of things I suspect these plot threads won't be resolved until the end of the series; at the moment it certainly doesn't look like it is going to turn into a 'case of the week' type series. On the strength of this opener I'm certainly looking forward to seeing more but at this stage I'm still unsure whether it will turn out to be something really good or whether it will just be a decent time filler.
