Of "Blue" and "Orange" Walters.
The "Pawns" of Jones all make the same fatal mistake: They assume he is going to rescue them or save them. So says "Meana" Sharp - Who waits in Jail in vain for Jones to come in some miraculous rescue. Ain't gonna happen.
But why are people suddenly being killed on "our" side in corresponding ways to horrific deaths on "the other side?"
Jones has got a New Toy, why should he concern himself with rescuing "Meana?" Agent Lee has decided he's needed on the other side-Both Broyles are letting him do this. Is this "The Consultant?" Or is it Walter, who visits the other side for the first time-Yes it is, because for the first time in our Orange timeline, Walter crosses over to "Consult" on these Fringe Events.
I have to stop here and reconsider "Orange" Walter: And as you know, I refer to this set of universes as "The Orange Multiverse" compared to what I call the "Blue" and "Red" universes of our first 3 year Fringe-line. This "Orange" Walter has not been as endearing to us, as he had been for 3 seasons. In fact, in some cases he has been an irritating Turd. Why? It's the same John Noble. But Walter himself is different. At the beginning of Season 4, "Orange" Walter - Yes, he was in "St Claire's - The place where (I) lived for 17 years" - And yes, he had a son named Peter. But his Peter died and the Peter he tried to save also died (Ergo, Peter died "twice") - So, this Walter had NO Peter. This is a harder Walter, a Walter who had no Hope. At least "Blue" Walter had the Hope that Peter would eventually come to St. Claire's, even though it took Olivia dragging Peter there in the first place - But "Orange" Walter never had that hope. Hence, he is a bitter man. WAS a bitter man. It is evident that "Orange" Walter's interaction with "Blue" Peter has changed him, is changing him. Now that "Orange" Walter is accepting Pater as his "de facto" son, Walter is changing into "Our" Walter. So, Peter is getting "His" Olivia back — and Now "His" Walter. Because Peter believed he should EXIST, it is as if his continuing existence in the "Orange" 'Verse, where he was not supposed to ever have existed, is now becoming a Fact of the "Orange" 'Verse. Peter's existence is changing things in this Timeline.
Peter is the Bridge by with Walter is able to walk on the earth and interact with it- And so, now we have a Walter that is even willing to Cross Over to help with a Fringe Conundrum, just like Walter likes to go to where the Fringe events are occurring to get a look at "The Bodies."
And so the guard at The Bridge asks Walter: "Are you on you on any medications?" "Several - Mostly recreational"
We know that Broyles is in bed with Jones "on the other side" - We've seen him in duplicitous acts.
I must say, the resolution of the "Broyles" Problem which is mainly what this episode depicts, was a great relief to me — as I really Liked "Red" Broyles before he got killed in Olivia's Escape from Red 'Verse, I did Not like the idea that "Orange Other Side" Broyles had been absorbed by a 'Shifter, I can deal with a Broyles that had other reasons to work with Jones. It's a relief, see?
Add in to this equation that Olivia-with-Blue-Olivia's-Memories knows why Other Side Broyle's son is ill - It had to do with the child's abduction which was recapped in S3 - Perhaps she can offer this Broyles a better solution to his child's illness than the one Jones was using to manipulate him. This may or may not be a huge spoiler, depends on how the season four endgame develops.
I Love the various Pop Culture references, that "Fauxlivia" doesn't get, that she should get, if Newton did in fact giver her a book of Pop Culture in This timeline. I also like how these episodes are being tied with Bows. I DON'T like that this may be the last few episodes of Fringe.
