This episode evolves around the reservation and its police force. A man who is a tribal leader is found dead in his car, but it is obvious to Longmire that the body was moved. So, in addition to solving the crime, borders and barriers are thrown up that must be negotiated. The other subplot is that Branch and Cady's secret comes out and the ramifications of their actions.
