Actor Alia Bhatt has now finally made her transition from Bollywood to Hollywood with her new spy-thriller-action film ‘Heart of Stone’, where she stars alongside popular Israeli actress Gal Gadot. Speaking about her transition, Alia said that suddenly doing a movie in full English language was a bit weird for her, but overall it was a great experience for her.
In an interview with the Toronto Sun, Alia was asked about her transition where she said: “You know it was a bit awkward for me speaking in English all time, because I’m so used to speaking in Hindi even though I use English half the time, suddenly acting in English was a bit weird.”
“But apart from that, day one… kind of awkwardness, I really really felt that it was the same. The process of a film set world over is exactly the same,” she added.

Scholars have devoted tomes to it, politicians have waxed long about it, but it was an Urdu poet who furnished the most abiding, yet concise expression of the idea, history, and ethos of India. And that too in less than a dozen words – though with two compound formulations, while including his pen-name too: “Sarzameen-e-Hind par aqwam-e-alam ke ‘Firaq’ / Kafile baste gaye, Hindustan banta gaya.”
This composite and syncretic sentiment forms the bedrock of the poetry of Raghupati Sahai ‘Firaq Gorakhpuri’, considered among the foremost Urdu poets of all time, and one who enriched and further indigenised the tradition.
Equally fluent in Hindi and Urdu, Persian and Sanskrit, he incorporated elements from his deep, self-taught knowledge of the Vedic and Puranic ethos into his poetry.
If he could proclaim: “Meri ghutti mein padhi this ho ke hal Urdu zabaan/Jo bhi mein kehta gaya husn-e-bayan hota gaya”, he could also pen:...

India’s Kamal Haasan is a true multi-hyphenate. Beginning as a child actor in 1960, he is one of the country’s most consummate actors with films like “Pathinaru Vayathinile” (1977) “Moondram Pirai” (1982) “Nayakan” (1987), “Thevar Magan” (1992) and “Vishwaroopam” (2013) behind him.
He also produces via his Raajkamal Films International (Rkfi), writes, directs, and runs the Makkal Needhi Maiam political party.
The upcoming “Vikram,” directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj (“Master”) and costarring Fahadh Fasil (“Malik”) Vijay Sethupathi (“Kadaisi Vivasayi”), will be Haasan’s first release since 2018’s “Vishwaroopam 2.” It is produced by Rkfi.
Haasan was at the Cannes Market to launch NFTs based on “Vikram” from Fantico, a digital licensed platform of Singapore’s Vistas Media Capital.
What is “Vikram” about? And is the title an homage to Rkfi’s 1986 film Vikram?
This is not a sequel, but, yes, it’s [about] a man who’s very similar. The film starts differently, its about reminiscing the man and his deeds.

Antony Perumbavoor, the producer, already had another big film with him, unreleased for the past several months – Marakkar: Arabikkadalinte Simham. Both films starred Mohanlal, and both are expected to pull crowds. But when the uncertainty over opening of theatres in Kerala continued, Antony gave Drishyam 2 to Amazon Prime for an Ott release. Apart from the expected outrage on social media from right wing handles, an Fir was also filed against officials of the Over the Top (Ott) platform. The representation of religion on screen has periodically run into controversy with religious groups and the government, as in the case of films like Mani Ratnam's Bombay, Rahul Dholakia's Parzania, Kamal Haasan's Vishwaroopam, Rajkumar Hirani's Pk or more recently Raju Murugan's Gypsy. In the current political climate, such outrage and censorship have become the norm, with a communal angle given to characters, scenes and subjects even if the film ostensibly does not deal with religion or communalism. Vishwaroopam 2
Starring: Kamal Haasan, Waheeda Rehman, Shekhar Kapoor, Anand Mahadevan, Pooja Kumar, Andrea Jermiah
Directed by Kamal Haasan
Rating: *** ½ (3 a half stars)
The best thing about this lengthy lumbering but never uninteresting odeto anti-terrorism is the lovely wizened Waheeda Rehman. But we have to wait till after interval point for her to show up.
The veteran actress is cast as the protagonist’s mother who suffers a memory loss and can only remember her son as a dancer not a nationalist fighter. If you’ve seen the first Vishwaroopam film 5 years ago you’d remember what the lady has forgotten. Kamal Haasan Kathak recital in the film resonated rather quaintly with all the macho desh bhakti/jihadi stuff as he had infiltrated into a Jihadi camp as an Islamic insurgent.

The film also gives us a glimpse of Andrea (who plays Kamal's colleague in the film) and Rahul Bose, among other actors. The trailer suggests that Wisam Ahmad Kashmiri gets back together with his estranged wife, played by Pooja Kumar. The first part was lauded for its high octane action and taut screenplay. The flick also stars Pooja Kumar, Andrea Jeremiah, Shekhar Kapur, Waheedha Rahman and others. While the first part had music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, the music for the sequel is composed by Ghibran. Sanu Varghese and Shamdat Sainudeen handled the camera while Mahesh Narayanan was roped in for editing. Vishwaroopam 2 involves a lot of VFX, which is one of the major reasons for the delay in its release. Produced by Raaj Kamal International, Aascar Film Pvt Ltd and Balaji Motion Pictures, the film’s distribution rights have been acquired by Eros International. Kamal, who recently confirmed that he will be hosting the second season of reality show Bigg Boss Tamil, also has Indian 2 with director Shankar in his kitty, which will start rolling soon. The project will only go on the floors after Shankar is completely relieved off 2.0 while Kamal is expected to wrap up Vishwaroopam 2 and Sabash Naidu. (Content provided by Digital Native)...

The long-delayed sequel to Vishwaroopam, which stars Haasan as an Indian spy, also stars Rahul Bose, Andrea Jeremiah and filmmaker Shekhar Kapur in pivotal roles. GenderAndrea was speaking on the occasion of Women's Day when she discussed how male-dominant the cinema industry is. Tnm StaffPhoto by Digital NativeAndrea Jeremiah is known for the strong roles she has essayed over the years. Speaking on the occasion of International Women's Day at Jeppiar College, Chennai, Andrea took on patriarchy in the Tamil film industry. Admitting that the film industry, her workplace, was a male-dominated space, Andrea went on to ask who the superstars of Indian cinema were. As the crowd roared, she said, "You will name Shah Rukh Khan, Salman, Khan, Aamir Khan, Rajinikanth..." The point the actor was making was that women hardly figure in the list of superstars because roles are seldom written for them and narratives do not revolve around their character. Andrea further revealed that despite the rave reviews and appreciation from the audience that she had received for Taramani, directed by Ram, she was yet to sign her next film. However, a woman actor who does a blockbuster film with a star like Vijay, would go on a signing spree, she pointed out. In Taramani, Andrea played a single, employed mom. Andrea noted that the success of a woman star is measured by which male superstar she has acted with rather than her own work. “Indian cinema is changing. But in order for a Deepika Padukone to be a Deepika Padukone she had to act with Shah Rukh Khan,” says Andrea. “Yes, I can look hot and sexy and I can act also. So, write roles for me and don’t ask me to come on screen and jiggle my butt and wear revealing clothes and be happy with that,” she adds. Acknowledging that patriarchy was not limited to men, Andrea said that she had to fight her mother's ideas about what a woman should be like in order to get where she was. Andrea started her career in theatre and went on to do films like Aayirathil Oruvan, Annayum Rasoolum, Pachaikili Muthucharam, Mankatha, Vishwaroopam, Thupparivalan and Aval. She is also a talented singer and has sung several hit numbers. Conversations on gender inequality in the film industry are still at a nascent stage in Indian cinema. Nevertheless, more women professionals from the cinema field are opening up to discuss the misogyny and patriarchy that they confront on screen as well as off it on an everyday basis.

Kollywood'Vishwaroopam 2' is being produced by Venu Ravichandran in Tamil and by Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor in Hindi as 'Vishwaroop 2'.Tnm StaffFacebook / Kamal HaasanActor Kamal Haasan, recently launched his political party Makkal Needhi Maiyam in Madurai. Although he’s ventured into politics full time, the actor has a couple of films pending release. Vishwaroopam 2, the sequel to his 2013 spy thriller Vishwaroopam is gearing up for release later this month. Kamal Haasan from his official Facebook page has announced that the trailer for the film will be released soon. Vishwaroopam that came out in 2013 was embroiled in controversies. Caught between two factions, Hindu Makkal Katchi (objecting to its name) and Muslim groups in Tamil Nadu (citing that the film would hurt Muslim sentiments), Kamal took on theatre owner groups when he announced his plans of premiering the movie Dth (Direct to home). All hell broke loose when the then Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Jayalalithaa defended the ban on the film. When asked why she supported the ban, she cited law and order concerns. Eventually, allegations that the film was anti-Islamic were quashed and an amicable solution was reached when Kamal agreed to remove a few scenes from the film. With his recent entry into politics, the film is sure to have his political ideologies and thoughts embedded into it. Kamal has also announced his plans to work on a sequel to his 1996 film, Indian 2, with director Shankar. Vishwaroopam 2 is being produced by Venu Ravichandran in Tamil and by Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor in Hindi as Vishwaroop 2. Actors Rahul Bose, Pooja Kumar and Andrea Jeremiah are reprising their role in this film as well. While the film began production in 2013, it was later shelved due to delays and finally revived by Kamal Haasan last year. While the teaser of Rajinikanth’s Kaala is being premiered on March 2, the two actors might lock horns on-screen as well with the release of their films.

ControversyGautami had recently alleged that Raaj Kamal Films International (Rkfi) had failed to settle her dues for working as a costume designer.Digital NativeDigital NativeActor Gautami, who was in a relationship with Ulaga Nayagan Kamal Haasan for nearly 13 years, recently alleged that the production house run by him failed to settle her dues for working as a costume designer in films such as Vishwaroopam and Dasavathaaram. Gautami had posted in her blog, “During the nearly thirteen years of our life together, the work that I did as Costume Designer was only for films produced by Raaj Kamal Films International (Rkfi), and for films that Mr. Haasan made for other producers. And this was my primary source of income as my working both in front of and behind the camera in other’s projects was actively discouraged. In addition to this, it grieves me greatly to have to say that as of October 2016, I had salary dues pending right from earlier films like Dasavathaaram, Vishwaroopam, etc.” Gautami’s blog post further said that repeated efforts to recover her dues from Rkfi failed. “I am deeply anguished to say that in spite of repeated entreaties and requests, there is still a significant amount from my due salary pending payment,” it said. In a clarification to her allegations about unpaid dues, Raaj Kamal Films International has stated that both Dasavathaaram as well as Vishwaroopam were bankrolled by different production houses and Kamal has nothing to do with her payments in that regard. While Dasavathaaram was produced by Aascar Ravichandran under his banner Aascar Films, Vishwaroopam was bankrolled by Pvp Cinemas, claim sources from Rkfi. Seeking evidence regarding the veracity of Gautami’s claims, sources close to Kamal assured that any unpaid dues would be settled if she provided enough proof. It may be mentioned here that Gautami had worked as costume designer for several of Kamal Haasan’s films and she last shared screen space with him in Papanasam, which is the Tamil remake of the Malayalam blockbuster Drishyam which starred Mohanlal and Meena. He, in an open forum at the Ficci Frames 2015, publicly apologized to Kamal Haasan for 'not standing by him when he was passing turbulent times during the release of his film Vishwaroopam in 2013'. Speaking at the interactive session post the inauguration of the event, Aamir Khan said, "I take this opportunity to apologize to you, Mr. Kamal Haasan, for not standing by you when your film was banned in 2013. I was lost in my work. But, I want to apologize to you that I wasn't there at that time. I read about it later and felt so bad about it, that you had to go through all that. I think we all filmmakers should stand by each other in such cases and I should have supported you during those trying times.

Aamir Khan apologised to Kamal Haasan publically for not standing by him when his film Vishwaroopam was banned in 2013. Both the actors were present at the inauguration of Ficci Frames 2015.
"To stop a film after it has been through certification is certainly not right. Some groups take violence into their own hands to stop a film. That's really sad and unfortunate. I think that happened with Mr. Kamal Haasan sometime back. I feel ashamed to say that at that time I was lost in my work. Sonakshi Sinha has been finalized to play the lead opposite Rajinikanth in K Ravikumar's next film. However the offer was accepted only after the yawning age difference between the two actors was justified. Says a source close to the family, "Shatruji and Rajinikanthji are contemporaries. When the two of them worked together in K C Bokadia's Asli Naqli Sonakshi was running around on the sets in frocks! Now to be offered a role opposite him is a bit like cradle-snatching." Informs the Sinhas' close associate, "She wanted to work with Rajini Sir, who doesn't? And Rajini Sir has worked with heroines who are almost as young as Sonakshi. Working with younger heroines is no big deal in the Mumbai film industry. Even Kareena Kapoor was just a kid running around on the sets when Akshay Kumar worked with Kareena's sister Karisma. Later Akshay and Kareena were fine as a screen pair.
