The film's 6-part making of documentary cost nearly 10-times as much as the actual film.
Hit the newspaper covers in Finland after it was announced the film was shot with a shoestring budget of 20,000 EUR in five days in Kenia with a Kenian actor portraying Marshal Mannerheim.
The film was a low-budget production shot in Kenya mostly by the local crew and C. G. E. Mannerheim was played by the Kenyan actor Telley Savalas. This caused controversy in Finland (the film was a Finnish-Estonian-Kenyan co-production) where Mannerheim is a national war hero and a cultural figure, especially for the older generation. The controversy was kept alive several months by the Finnish tabloid press.
Telley Savalas won the 2014 Kalasha Award for the Best Lead Actor from The Kenya Film Commission.
