Phoebe Dynevor has gone from little-known British TV actress, to a fixture in 63 million households around the world thanks to her breakthrough performance in Shondaland’s Netflix smash Bridgerton. Now she’s hoping to remain a fixture in Season 2, but admits filming under Covid-19 safety protocols will be challenging.
In an interview with Deadline, the 25-year-old actress acknowledged that her character Daphne Bridgerton’s story arc comes to a satisfying conclusion at the end of Season 1, as her lusty romance with Regé-Jean Page’s Simon Basset plays out over the course of the eight episodes.
Based on the novels of Julia Quinn, the spotlight shifts from Daphne to her older brother, Anthony Bridgerton, in the second book, but Dynevor thinks there is scope to flip Season 1’s storyline on its head. Anthony spends much of his time meddling in the affairs of his sister, without taking good enough care of his own romantic dalliances.

It’s already great to hear there’s going to be a series on the cult classic Snatch. It’s even better to see the wide array of actors Crackle signed on. But now a teaser trailer was just released… and wow, next week cannot come fast enough.
Crackle is set to release ten one-hour episodes of the new Snatch series next Thursday, March 16. Alex De Rakoff (who has previous experience with Grand Theft Auto) is directing the series – as well as wrote several of the episodes, and stars your childhood actors all grown up.
Completely unrecognizable from his Harry Potter past, Rupert Grint sheds Ron Weasley for Charlie Cavendis– and he looks good. Phoebe Dynevor, of Waterloo Road and Prisoners Wives, plays Lotti Mott, while Scream Queens’ Lucien Laviscount plays Billy Ayers and American Gothic’s Stephanie Leonidas plays Chloe Koen. The character is described as "a handsome recluse and former Emt who can hold his own against Big Jim and forms a deep connection with Julia (Rachelle Lefevre)."
UK actress Karla Crome (pictured below right; "Misfits," "Prisoners Wives"), meanwhile, will make her Us TV debut as Rebecca, "a beautiful teacher who is athletic, smart, tough, and sexy. She grew up as an Army brat and lived...

BBC One/BBC America co-production Jonathan Strange And Mr Norrell starts shooting next week with Ray Donovan‘s Eddie Marsan and Olivier award-winning Bertie Carvel (Matilda) starring in the lead roles. Based on the bestselling novel by Susanna Clarke, the seven-part series has been adapted by Wallander‘s Peter Harness. It’s an alternate history of England set during the Napoleonic Wars when reclusive Mr Norrell (Marsan) is persuaded to help the government with his magical prowess. At the same time, the charming and wealthy Strange (Carvel) learns he too is destined to be a great magician. The story centers on the relationship between the two men. New Line optioned the movie rights back in 2005 with Christopher Hampton adapting, but the film was never made. Also joining the drama’s cast are Alice Englert (Ginger & Rosa), Marc Warren (The Good Wife), Samuel West (Mr Selfridge), Charlotte Riley (Wuthering Heights), Enzo Cilenti...

Way back in April we got word that BBC America is expanding its "Supernatural Saturday" lineup in 2014 to include a seven-part "Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell" miniseries, based on the novel by Susanna Clarke. Today we know who the cast members are.
From the Press Release:
Eddie Marsan (pictured; "Ray Donovan," The Worlds End) and Olivier award-winning Bertie Carvel (Restless, "Primeval") have been cast in BBC America’s co-production "Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell," based on the bestselling novel by Susanna Clarke and adapted by Peter Harness ("Wallander," Is Anybody There?). The new seven-part drama series is to premiere as part of the channel’s Supernatural Saturday.
Further casting includes Alice Englert (Ginger & Rosa, Beautiful Creatures), Marc Warren ("The Good Wife," "Hustle"), Samuel West ("Mr Selfridge," "Fleming: The Man Who Would Be Bond"), Charlotte Riley (Wuthering Heights, Easy Virtue), Enzo Cilenti ("Prisoners Wives," "Rome"), and Paul Kaye ("Game of Thrones,...

You don’t need to be a fan or even to have seen Once Upon a Time to be able to watch and enjoy Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, which premieres tonight on ABC, but if you are a fan of the original, the spinoff will strike enough familiar chords to be of particular delight to you.
Though you’ll see young Alice briefly, this heroine of this limited series is Alice as a young woman. She has confidence and drive and is great fun to watch and root for, and the villains are all easy to “boo”. The storyline and dialogue are a bit wooden but the acting, particularly of Sophie Lowe as Alice and Emma Rigby as the Red Queen, bring this premiere up several notches. It’s charming and fun, and definitely worth a watch.

Enzo Cilenti clearly doesn't know about Marvel Studios' policy of keeping their casting additions a secret as he has publicly announced via Twitter that he has joined the cast of James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy. He doesn't reveal Who he's playing, but with Michael Rooker and Ophelia Lovibond already cast in supporting roles, there's nothing to say that Cilenti has joined the movie as one of the Guardians (the actors who will play Groot and Rocket Raccoon have not been announced as of yet). Enzo Cilenti is perhaps best known for his roles in Prisoners Wives, House and Spooks. I may or may not be in #Guardiansofthegalaxy. I am sworn to secrecy so can't say. In entirely unrelated news, "I am".— Enzo Cilenti (@EnzoCilenti) May 8, 2013...

A cracking, captivating finale to what is to me one of the most underrated drama series on British TV. With stories wrapping up, as well as stories forging new paths, Prisoners Wives continues to excite and thrill audiences across the isles.
Kim’s husband is finally released after the charges against him were false. As he returns home, adapting to normality again is difficult and stressful. Actor Enzo Cilenti does a convincing turn as someone fresh out of prison, and with anxiety and fear poured over him as he tries to readjust to normality. Both Kim & Mick know that they can never be normal again, but prepare themselves to try and repair their lives, as well as to the new relationship formed with their neighbours. Its a hopeful end to the story, and gives the characters something to look forward to and build on.

Prisoners Wives continues its run on BBC One with two more episodes to add to the lingering minds of the British nation. Will Kim be able to clear her husband’s name? Can Aisling mend the relationship with her troublesome father? What about Harriet and the situation with her new romance and tearaway son? And of course, what about Francesca’s ever downward spiral into the underworld?
Episode Two and Three really take these stories in different directions, and in many ways, test the morals of the characters and if the path they are heading is the right one. I resume the praise of the acting, which remains top notch throughout the episodes, as well as the carefully crafted storytelling that is both realistic and eventful.
The acting remains high as ever, as each female lead is thrown in new drastic situations that test their morals and beliefs.

Returning to British screens this past Thursday, Prisoners Wives has been one of BBC One’s secret weapons when it comes to quality drama on their channel. Despite the average-y ratings and the slash of two episodes this series, the hype for the return has been pretty exciting. While this may not be a show directed at WhatCulture readership, it still deserves to be championed alongside other WhatCulture loved shows.
The first episode sees the return of Francesca (Polly Walker) and Harriet (Pippa Haywood), continuing their story arcs from the last series. Francesca is slowly drawn more in the mob life of her husband’s, whilst Harriet finds new solace in Christianity as well as a new romance. We are all introduced to two new characters. The first being Aisling (Karla Crome), a young woman ready to walk down the aisle, but paired with a petty...

Returning to our screens this past Thursday was BBC One’s Prisoners Wives, a female led drama series focusing on the lives of a handful of wives and their male loved ones behind bars, as well as how they can handle the drastic change in their own lives. The first series attracted strong ratings, which was enough to warrant its return. However, instead of the standard six, we are instead given a shorter four episode run this time round.
With that, WhatCulture managed to spent some time with actress Pippa Haywood and chat with her about this new series and her character Harriet’s journey in Series II.
How does it feel being back for a second series?

Actresses Riann Steele (Sket, Doctor Who) and Juliet Ellis (Prisoners Wives) will co-star in the upcoming BBC Three zombie-rehabilitation drama In The Flesh, which began filming around the North West of London last month. From the BBC Media Centre: In The Flesh is the story of teenager Kieren Walker and his reintegration back into both the local community and the heart of his family. After his death four years ago, his friends and family thought they’d never see Kieren again. But then, shortly after his funeral, thousands of the dead were re-animated in one freak night; and now, after months of re-habilitation and medication, the zombies are gradually being returned to their...

The Prisoners’ Wives season finale began with the psychotic Andy (Anthony Flanagan) popping around to do some Diy work at Gemma’s (Emma Rigby) house. While he was there he also encouraged her to withdraw the statement she had made to the police that incriminated her murderous husband. The poor girl attempted to comply with his demands before being strong armed into testifying but it nearly ended in tears as Andy almost burst in on Gemma as she gave birth in a public bathroom.
While things (sort of) worked out for Gemma, Francesca’s (Polly Walker) desire for the high life saw her make choices that lead to trouble for her father and her kids. Meanwhile, Lou (Natalie Gavin) and her man switched places as she went to jail just as he was released.

We have seen many shows that focus on criminals and on the victims of crime but the BBC’s new drama Prisoners’ Wives is focused on the lives of the immediate family members of convicted criminals. Much of the pre-show hype centered around Rome star Polly Walker and she gave an unsurprisingly strong performance as the veteran crime wife Francesca. She lives in a lavish home that we assume was bought with crime money by her incarcerated spouse Paul who is played by Downton Abbey actor Iain Glen.
While Walker’s performance was eye catching, the real star of Prisoners’ Wives episode one was her young co-star Emma Rigby. She plays the naive, innocent and perhaps ultimately tragic Gemma.
