In the final scene, Margaret and Owen are inside the greenhouse/glasshouse. They come outside and CLUNK ,we hear the door closing. They chat for a short time and then head back into the greenhouse for a shag. But, hello, the door is ajar.
The bare knuckle fight in the bar was fought like a boxing match without gloves. In a real bare knuckle match the head is rarely struck, to do so exposes the fighter to a risk of broken hands. They tend to go more for body blows, which cause less of a bloody mess but are still very painful.
Even though the 1864 song "When You and I Were Young, Maggie" was a standard in 1923, when the story takes place, the famous John McCormack recording that is heard under the conclusion of the greenhouse scene at the end was not recorded until 1925, two years later.
