Fantastic episode

Warning: Spoilers
Very good parody/homage done by "Phineas and Ferb" to several fantasy and adventure stories, from "The Princess Bride" to "The Lord of the Rings".

Like two previous episodes "Doof Dynasty" and "Tri-Stone Area", most of the amusement delivered by this episode is seeing the usual routine from a "Phineas and Ferb" episode in a different time and context, with some unexpected surprises (Such as brief cameos from secondary characters) having the usual clever sense of humor from the overall series, resulting in something very enjoyable to watch.

This was a very entertaining episode, with many funny parts and an effective interaction between the main characters. This is probably one of my favorite chapters from the third season of "Phineas and Ferb".

The story Carl red to Monogram inspired me a LOT. The Isabel fairy, monsters, The Lady of the Puddle (parody of the Lady of the Lake) Wow.

So hilarious!

This was one of the best episodes of the show and most people seem to agree with me on this. The story is that Major Monogram is sick and his intern Carl, is reading him a bedtime story. I believe the entire episode is based on "The Princess Bride", my favorite movie! The story is a medieval re-enactment of a typical episode of the show. My favorite character is still Candace, or should I say, Candavere. She wants to get to the harvest bonfire with Jeremy, or should I say, Jeremaid.

She keeps turning into different kinds of monsters or rather she gains their attributes and keeps her head. It's great because it mixes up the formula of the show so well. My favorite joke might have been when Major Monogram asked if the character based on him was important to the story, but it wasn't. It's nothing but joke after joke here and they all hit bullseyes! We even get a great climatic battle with Parable and Malifishmirtz as giant monsters. Look, it's hard for me to remember all these new characters' names, right?

None of it makes sense, as no one would know what these characters are like in (their) real life. It's just hilarious. Some of the more subtle jokes are even explained like Bufavulous secretly making a haiku. All of the characters are at their hilarious best here. The creativity works wonderfully too. It's great to hear Ferbalot epically talk as well. ****

The legendary sword

There are quite a large number of 'Phineas and Ferb' that had great story ideas, managing to follow the basic formula while doing more than enough to give it variety. "Excaliferb" is one of them. It's actually one of the more unique and creative ones, which is amazing for a setting that has been depicted quite a lot in animation beforehand. Loved it when it first aired during an up and down period for me, and have re-watched it a number of times since as that's how positive an impression it made on me.

"Excaliferb" is a fantastic episode. Not quite one of my favourite episodes of 'Phineas and Ferb' overall, but one of the best, funniest and cleverest of the later episodes and certainly of Season 3 when the show started to not become as consistent. It was a creative setting for the show, even if a familiar one in animation, and had a clever plot cleverly executed. While very 'Phineas and Ferb' in formula, nothing in this episode felt repetitive or obvious.

So much to love here in "Excaliferb". It is excellently animated. Vibrantly coloured and the backgrounds has lovely attention to detail, plus it is visually quite ambitious for 'Phineas and Ferb' at this point of the show's run. The music is dynamic with the action and the theme song is insanely catchy with very clever and quotable lyrics that anybody still in school fishing for how to spend their vacation will relate to.

It's exceptionally well written as well. The target audience is clear and there is something for kids and adults alike. The writing is smart and mature, while not being too complicated for younger audiences. While with enough complexity emotionally to not be simplistic for older viewers, the setting is very imaginatively and affectionately done and the references to fantasy and adventure films, and medieval characters, were never random, forced or too adult, instead they are witty, clever and makes one nostalgic for the genres.

All the character writing and interaction are spot on, Doofenschmirtz is a riot. The voice acting is excellent too.

Overall, brilliant. 10/10.
