Gunter and Hagerman investigate the murder of a man in a hotel room, he decapitated and his head missing. They know that he was killed by someone posing as a prostitute. By identification found in the room, they discover he is Paulo Sabatini, one of Racken's associates. They figure that Tannhauser had him killed, an assumption that Racken also makes, which escalates the war between the two gang bosses. The question is did Tannhauser contract Sabatini's killing or was it someone else who had another motive? Gunter believes he has the answer of if it was Tannhauser by a package that the Commissioner receives. Meanwhile, Gunter believes he is taking on the traits of the man whose face he now possesses. Both Hagerman and the Commissioner can see the same thing in him.
