First rule whilst watching A Time Called You: Don't Compare it With Someday Or One Day...
hanalisss9 September 2023
I am a huge fan of the original masterpiece (Taiwanese) version of this remake and I have to say, if you watch this with the other one in mind you will be greatly disappointed.

But if you watch this with fresh eyes or you aren't interested in the original you will find this one entertaining and enjoyable and filled with lovely moments.

Best thing of this remake was hands down the female lead, Jeon Yeo, her capacity of transforming herself into the two personalities (Jun Hee & Min Ju ) was amazing, I was in awe every time I was watching her one or the other you could tell who was who immediately! Really good performance.

Not that impressed by the male lead, I watched him in a lot of dramas ( 17 going to 30 my fave so far) and he is a great actor, but I am not sure if this was how his characters were written, or because of the consequence of the time travel and the mix of the personalities, the two characters were so similarly played (Yeon Jun & Si Heon) I could barely tell them apart.

The romance of the drama is good and is a big focus of the series, I felt the chemistry between the leads and it was quite enjoyable for me to watch this remake with this actors as well.

Time travel arcs of the series, along with the crime, thriller and suspense ones , had some holes and some parts made no sense at all, so it gets to a point that you just keep watching and go with it. That was a bit frustrating.

Overall and I say it again, in my opinion you will only be able to enjoy this drama if you don't compare it to the original OR you haven't watched it yet.

So if you haven't, give it a go!

Time travel that keeps us in loop
imanshara8 September 2023
The kdrama, although a remake of a Thai series (I absolutely didn't know about) feels fresh. The actors Hyo Seop and Jeo Been have an excellent chemistry and have done a great job playing their roles very well across different ages . The kdrama gives you hope and then takes it away and right when you think it's gone, the writers give you back the hope again. It's ofcourse not the usual rom com kdrama, there's mystery, suspense and thrill, ofcourse with tons of love. The episodes keep you hooked and before you know, you really binge watch all 12 of them at a go. The locations for the shoot are mesmerising and you're in for an overall treat.

Great, but complex
dearlycupids10 September 2023
Wonderful balance between dramatic romance and mystery. Upon finishing watching this, I was really confused to the point I had to look up for reviews and explanations online to connect all the dots. It's complex and you must pay attention to every single scene after Ep 7 so you can understand the whole plot. There could be less plots though, because there were so many that you had to remember random scenes that happened like 3 eps ago to understand, but I know that was the whole point of the show. Antagonist was kind of unexpected. When I say to pay attention to the show, I mean it. It's easier to understand when you look at the story in Yeon Jun/Si Heon's point of view (something that the show doesn't primary offer since the show is based on Min Ju/Jun Here's perspective). If you're looking for a light drama, I wouldn't recommend this as it's complex and can have you thinking for some minutes to comprehend everything that's happening. As someone who was waiting for this drama for 2 months now, it really surprised me and it was really unexpecting as I expected something more light and more based on just a simple time-travel thing, but ended up watching a show full of plots. I'm not really a fan of mystery and complex k-dramas, but this was surprisingly good. Once you understand every single plot, it's way easier to comprehend the whole show. Good overall and it's worth watching.

I'm in rollercoaster!!
baruashathi14 September 2023
I don't know what should I say. This series stuck in my head now. Truly speaking I enjoyed this drama. Before I start, I've never watched the original Taiwanese version that everyone seemed to enjoy, so this is my view on how I watched the drama without knowing the original plot. I was so excited when Netflix announced this show and cast the artists who are my most favourite.

First for all I want talk about characters. Ahn Hyo Seop, Jeon Yeo Bin, Kang Hoon are main play the lead roles. They are play very well and their performance is so natural and wonderful. Especially Jeon Yeo Bin, Yeo Been does a fantastic job of understanding the character and delivering as both Jun Hee/Min Joo. Ahn Hyo Seop and Kang Hoon friendship chemistry is so good . I love them so much.

A truly gripping story that keeps you hooked throughout all the episodes with lovable characters, great acting performances by the cast and a beautiful OST that adds that something extra. A rollercoaster of emotion. They brought me laughter and sadness. It's make me cry a lot .

I'll totally recommend this drama to anyone and I'll add it to my 2016 list of best dramas released . All the actors did a great job .

It's a solid 10/10 for me .

For the best watching experience I'll suggest you watch it on 1.5x speed but watch it on normal speed when the main leads hyo seop and yeo been are together in a scene.

Their chemistry is everything and more .

A time called you is amazing
haniimrose10 September 2023
Amazing. Love the romance, love their time travel story, they take us into the story, every episode is very exciting and interesting. The ending of the story was very satisfying and unpredictable.

The moral message of this drama is very interesting, sometimes it's not the people around us who avoid us or don't want to be with us, but without realizing it, our lack of self-confidence and having too high expectations of other people makes us stay away from them.

The difference between kwon min ju and han jun hee is that min ju is a person who is not confident, shy, hesitant so she stays away from his friends and family but he hopes his friends and family approach her while jun hee is a confident, cheerful person so she is loved by everyone. Si Heon can see their differences from their eyes, this is what is called the eyes are the window to our soul.

This drama is fiction but the moral of the story is real.

I couldn't stop watching
kocherhanka11 September 2023
Let me be honest. At first, I didn't plan to watch this k-drama, but I did because of Ahn Hyo-seop (I know you are not judging me for that, hahaha), and it was so worth it!

I agree with everyone who said that Jeon Yeo-been's (f lead) performance was outstanding. In that confusing and sometimes shocking time loop, I thought there were different actresses. She managed to play them all too well (like different ages, different people and still played by one person, bravo!)

The main plot as I said earlier was very confusing, yet in a very good way. A few times, I thought that I could predict something, and then everything was changing so quickly that my brain needed to use all of its resources to adapt to the new turns. On Ep.11, it all became overwhelming, and I started to look forward to seeing the final. I'm glad it's 12 episodes and not 16 or more.

While watching the drama, I had thoughts that if I wanted, I could find a lot of gaps or I would have a whole bunch of questions to writers, but I decided to enjoy the series, as sorry, but this is much better and rare than "King the land" or whatever.

Overall I did enjoy watching it. I think you will not regret watching it either.

Superb time-slip drama
kdramaenjoyer9 September 2023
A Time Called You is a gripping k-drama with time travel, romance, murder mysteries and more.

It made me cry, it made me laugh, it made me gasp. There are so many twist and turns that you need to stay focused in order not to miss out on important plot points.

The actors did a fantastic job, Jeon Yeobeen and Ahn Hyoseop in particular shone. Ahn Hyoseop in the second half of the drama made me feel so many emotions. Kang Hoon as Ingyu, the second male lead, also nailed his role.

This is a drama that gets better with each episode, as well as the acting which also improves with each episode.

The OST is beautiful, the main song being a Korean classic by the late Seo Jiwon (who tragically commited suicide due to the pressure of being successful) and it really adds to the emotions portrayed by the actors. A perfect choice.

The cinematography is stunning as well, as expected by Netflix and korean dramas in general.

The fans of the original drama should go into this with a pair of fresh eyes instead of comparing it to the original. If you expect it to be a direct copy then you will be disappointed. They added their own touch to the plot as well as the characters which I truly appreciate. It would've felt weird had they just straight up copied the OG actors.

Unfortunately some people decided before even watching that they were never going to like it, so please don't let their biased reviews put you off from watching this fantastic drama.

It's a 9/10 for me.

Korean take is not bad.
calories-4741410 September 2023
It is difficult to not compare this with the original but I watched it with an open mind. I did find this to be a good take of the original but it lost a lot of the great things the original have.

For me...
  • It failed to build the solid and profound relationship between the male leads. It really wasn't as meaningful as the original.

  • Things are more spelled out in this version. The dialogues explain what is going on. The original version on the other hand compels the audience to put the puzzle together because clues are definitely there. The audience becomes more of the mystery-solvers.

  • Some of the characters, though existed in the original, did not play a role in the drama (ie. The brother)

  • They reduced the adventures of the teens. The adventures of the original shows a before and after situation - and that changes the characters. Because this version had less of it, it is very weak in setting a distinction between two characters. The distinction was instead made in the dialogues (spelling it out)

I like that the drama stayed true to the original for the most part. But its weaknesses were the removal of the some of the greatest aspects of the original. There's a lot going for this drama, and it could have been better - it being a remake. It just didn't dig enough as profoundly as the original.

Acting of female lead is outstanding
maryamghani-8395712 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
A time called yo is an amazing drama.... Please donot compare it with the original one someday or one day...... This drama has its own charm. Best thing of this remake was hands down the female lead Jeon Yeo been, her capacity of transforming herself into two personalities. You can easily differentiate between the min ju and jun hee through hers eyes, body language and emotions. She played three different characters at the same time 1).min ju she is introvert, 2) min ju with jun hee soul 3) jun hee is extrovert and mature ... Well done to actress Jeon yeo been . The romace between the leads is good.

Remake of Taiwanese Drama someday or One Day
Glue2Screen9 September 2023
For those who do not know, this is a remake of the 2019 series from Taiwan called Someday or One Day. The original series in my opinion is much better ( as most originals are).

The reason being is that the acting from Alice Ko and Greg Han. As well the tightness of the editing makes the series more captivating and the mystery linger longer. As well, because I loved the original so much, watching this remake, I continuously want to compare it to the original.

I do find that they did very much keep the story similar, with some elements here, and there that they changed.

This series is pretty OK but I sincerely do feel everyone should check out the Taiwanese one.

Time travel always interesting
evelynguillen11 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I just got done watching this series. I felt the writing and acting was very well done.

Episode 8 left me baffled though, because the male lead had an attraction to another male, who I had no clue who he was and don't understand how this had anything to do with the whole story. They only showed less than 5 mins of this attraction, no set up, no explanation later. If it had any relevance why didn't they explain more. It felt as though it was just thrown in there and then they got back to the story line. If anyone can explain this, please do so. Other than that it was different and I enjoyed it. I loved the lead actress in Vincenzo that's a must watch.

Beautiful (but confusing)
blebbe17 October 2023
This series was truly a rollercoaster. First of all, I must say that Ahn Hyo-seop's delivery in this series was wonderful. The acting in general was impressive, but he just stood out to me. I also think this story had the perfect amount of episodes, I was hooked from the beginning all the way 'til the end.

My favorite thing about this series are the emotions it makes you feel. This series was a whirlwind of emotions. I especially liked the nostalgic vibe it brought to the table.

Like a lot of people have already said, this show's biggest flaw is how confusing it is. The plot was really easy to follow up until about halfway through. After like episode 6 or 7 the plot suddenly started to fall apart and it became harder to keep up with everything. Considering this series is about time travel, it could have been even more confusing, but I think I would have enjoyed this more if it had a more clear plot.

This went from finally being a netflix blockbuster to being another netflix craptacular.
kmhlbeavis18 February 2024
For the life of me I don't know why either Netflix or the writer who wrote this story messed up the ending as well as other things in this series. The beginning was pretty much non existent until the end of the series, the rest of the story wasn't even explained well. For example The lead male actor was in love with the new min jun. She was actually the little kid whom he defended while playing video games. Min jun was in a different dimension. When Jun Hee finally saved Min Jun what it was never explained at the end when they both run into each other what happened to Min Ju and In Gyu since they both finally got together after he saved her. The ending had no closure not complete at all and the person who she did fell in love with didn't exist because Si Heon actually took over Yeon Jun's body. We don't even know what the real story was with the real Yeon Jun. Too many missing pieces and an inconclusive ending. Justice was not done to main actor and actress as they performed their roles flawlessly. It seems like somebody is trying to sabotage Hyo-Seop's career. This is the second time he has been involved in a drama with an inconclusive ending. The first one being Business Proposal. I wish netflix and this writer would get their heads out of the part of the body where the sun don't shine and write a better ending.

A Heartfelt Remake That Gives a Fresh Take on the Original
marvinluicanada14 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
As a huge fan of the original series, I felt A Time Called You brought out a fresh, magical, almost dreamlike take on Someday or One Day. A lot of die-hard fans of SOOD will focus on comparisons---important scenes from the original that were cut from the remake, the reimagined Li Zi Wei, the reduced interactions between the characters that could've better informed the audience of their motivations, etc.---and by doing so have already condemned ATCY as inferior. But such a take is short-sighted and unfair and operates under the false premise that the objective of the remake is to surpass the original. That rarely is the case. Usually remakes are born out of an intense love for the source material and a desire to retell the story in a different light. And this is how I think we SOOD fans should see ATCY: not as an effort to outshine the original but as a declaration of love for it.

Watching ATCY, I definitely could see the heart and hard work that went into its production. They took care that the essence of SOOD was not lost even with such a huge difference in runtime. I was particularly sad about this reduction. SOOD explored Huang Yu Xuan's grief so well and really took time building the relationships of the three main characters. I was a little bummed this wasn't done as much in ATCY. I wish they could've shown more scenes with In-gyu and Minju, enough that their decisions in the end will make more sense. I also was bummed they did not include the scene where Yu Xuan scared off her brother's bullies. That would've been so funny and would've really made the disintegration of their friendship twice as heartbreaking. But in the end, the important task of ATCY is to deliver the love story (toward self and others) to the audience with the same rawness and depth that SOOD has.

I believe that they immensely succeeded in this objective, made possible by the outstanding and nuanced acting of the three leads and the careful and meticulous execution of the story's complex plot points. I especially am in awe of the Korean remake's cinematography, indeed one of the best I've seen in any drama. While SOOD gravitated more toward subdued colors and imagery, ATCY gave us the brightness of youth and first loves. We get the colors of spring to immerse us in the growth of young love, hints of blush and red and yellow for the love that has been nurtured and tested, and the blues and grays as a sign of impending sadness. And truly by using such a colorful palette in the first half of the series, ATCY is able to provide a stark contrast when the later episodes come around. Those who have watched the drama will know how unnerving it is when we're suddenly plunged into darkness.

Special mention needs to be made for Jeon Yeo-been's performance here. Her scenes in the final episodes really made my skin crawl, and the nuances she brings to Minju and Jun-hee are masterful and magnificent to watch. When she plays from one character to another, her voice and walk is different. Her intonation is different. Her smile and gaze are different. Korea, you have a gem here. I hope you don't waste her.

And Ahn Hyo-seop, what a revelation. Only watched him in one other drama and didn't think his acting had any depth, but he really floored me as Nam Si-heon. He took this role and went with it with his life. He plays a man in love like no other, and his boyish charm lends well to the high school version of his character. I need to apologize to you, Ahn Hyo-seop. From now on, I will consider you a serious actor.

Of course, Kang Hoon. My heart breaks for him the most. I imagine had he been given more screen time, he would've gone even further with his character. But in the scenes where he does appear, he shines and he is able to bring out the suppressed pain and longing and grief demanded by his role.

Overall, A Time Called You is a nostalgic and beautiful interpretation of Someday or One Day. Anyone with a taste for good storytelling, romance, and murder mystery---and with apt metal acuity---will surely enjoy and love the series. It is just as binge-worthy and heartfelt as the original (don't believe those who say otherwise :D).

You WILL binge it
pmeera-1095611 September 2023
The actors really came through and made you FEEl. I love the element of mystery and fantasy in it. One min it's fun and light, another it's deep and powerful. It takes you on a journey. The scenes are well directed and the acting is extremely convincing.

The way they transformed into different characters within the show and portrayed a versatile personality is also worthy of noting.

Another thing I was moved by was the element of mental health in it. The deep emotions and the range of them. You feel strongly sympathetic if not empathetic for all the characters. Just beautiful. Definitely worth a watch.

First 2 Episodes are slow. Then it's great.
skider17 September 2023
Six episodes in right now and this is a terrific show. Enjoying each one. I almost didn't make it past the first two tough, they were slow and confusing but it gets better incredibly fast. The acting is very good, writing is great, and the mystery is intriguing. Time travel here is done differently than I've seen before which is a good change of pace. As it's checking all these boxes it's also sets a theme that's important- being positive is a choice and your internal perception of the world can truly influence the energy of those around you and keep you from achieving the things you want in live. Worth the watch, give it a shot.

Surprisingly good!
marianafpalmieri11 September 2023
First of all, don't compare it to the Taiwanese version. You need to watch it with brand new eyes... It kept me so invested that I binge-watched it in two days! The love story between the main couple is beautiful. It might be difficult to keep up with the details sometimes but don't give up, I promise it's worth it. It's very different from all the other corny kdramas I watched before... It mix ups love, death, time traveling, very sad moments, murder, soulmates... I really enjoyed it! Now if you are the kind of person that pays close attention and tries to find logic in everything, just don't watch it... (sorry if my english is bad, not my first language)

The acting was good, but the story was confusing
justwen8916 September 2023
At first I really enjoyed watching it when it came to her and him and then he took up the story of what happened to him

I have seen several kdramas from these good actors and actresses, but this one was a bit disappointing

the acting was good, but I found episode 8 confusing and not fitting with this story that he liked someone else who didn't have any role in their story in the meantime.

So this i didn't really understand and after this it got even more confusing.

Her different characters were easy to follow but with him there was more and more confusion and I just didn't find the story interesting anymore

which made it lose my attention.

A time travel romance story that focuses too much only on romance
pranayjalvi18 September 2023
It is not unusual for Netflix to release Korean remakes of popular shows. Money Heist and Designated Survivor have already recently proved that the formula works; a decent story is a decent story in any language, and the trademark quality of acting and production found in Kdrama tends to provide a little uplift overall. But A Time Called You is riskier territory, as it's not just a remake, but a remake of a beloved Taiwanese classic titled Someday or One Day.

There's a lot of intrigue from the get-go, as the names of the characters who resemble each other aren't revealed until the end of the first episode. Given the constant back and forth, body swapping, and parallel timelines, writer Choi Hyo-bi remains largely consistent with the sharp, pacy writing throughout the show. There's a steady build-up in intrigue, especially with regard to the whodunit element. Every plot point in this show's complex narrative finds a place in a time loop, and the effort that has gone into the writing is evident from how it all unravels neatly.

The pace also, in a way, becomes this K-Drama's biggest enemy as it robs the show of much of its emotional nuance and depth. The show instead constantly shifts focus, and proceeds to march forward in an inexplicable hurry. While it goes without saying that A Time Called You requires a willing suspension of disbelief given the paradoxes of the world it is set in, the writing in the last two episodes stretches this to the hilt. Nevertheless, for a show that's packed to the brim and has a convoluted plot towards the end, the writing remains taut, and manages to nearly tie up all its loose ends. Music plays the most important and positive part in this 12 episode drama.

For a show which started with great promise in the first half, felt a litte flat in the second half with loosen grip in writing and focusing more on romance between the leads, rather than expanding the friendship of the trio. Nonetheless, it's a good one time watch.

My Rating : 7/10.

A heartwarming time slip story
dramaislife1119 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I watched the Taiwanese version just after A time called you was announced. Someday or one day will always hold a special place with its outstanding cast, character portrayal and the chemistry. The only thing that upset me in the taiwanese version was the ending. However the korean version changed it and i quite like this one better. But the two versions surely holds different vibes, so its better to watch it without comparing the portrayals intensely. If watched without having expectations, A time called you was really done nicely and not to mention the cinematography is also spectacular. I loved both the versions.

I was so invested until I watch episode...
hawkinsuhc18 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
10! Why would Jun-hee tell anyone about the time travel? I could not get over how stupid that was to do! Then, for Si-heon to fight Chan-yeong, a crazy man and try to rationalize in between blows. It dawned on me then that they all were going to die because they were just painfully stupid. He went through time, literally, to be with her. Only to be killed in the blink of an eye because he had to ask why versus incapacitating a psychopath. I was thinking this is such a beautiful, and tragic, love story to thinking what a bunch of idiots! Also there's the fact, that Ig-hyu Said he did something he didn't do. Had he not done that almost years ago, maybe the police would have looked a little harder. I went from being excited to watching the middle, or getting to the middle of episode 10, to being so angry and disappointed over the sheer and utter stupidity of it all. Ughhhhhh.....

Twisted Tales: A Disappointing Departure from Joyful Romance
APeacefulOne7 February 2024
While the acting is commendable overall, my disappointment lies in the storyline's obsession with convoluted and disturbing situations rather than focusing on a delightful love story. This is the second Korean film where I found myself entangled in a narrative that took a dark turn, featuring graphic violence. Despite the writers' attempts to address plot holes, the overall tone did not match the joyous and lighthearted feel of shows like 'Hometown Cha Cha Cha.' I kept hoping it wouldn't take a darker turn, but my hopes were dashed. While the plot does eventually resolve, the journey is filled with too much trauma. I wouldn't recommend it for those who enjoy love stories and upbeat shows.

One option is to just watch the first 6 or 7 episodes and then turn it off.

Rollercoaster
TheodoraEh12 September 2023
A rollercoaster of emotions from start to finish. Personally I really enjoyed it even though I was about to give up at first, thinking it'd be very melodramatic. It is at times but it switches. If you go with it and suspend all disbelief, it keeps you engaged constantly.

I didn't know it's a remake, I just read it here after having finished it. I didn't read any reviews beforehand to avoid spoilers, I didn't even know it was a time travel series, I thought it'd be a cheesy romance. I'm glad there's a supposedly better version out there cause I like the time travel theme. And some of us would have never seen it if it hadn't been made in Korean.

Ahn Hyo Seop looks different than what I remember from Still 17, and maybe a bit more stiff. Could be all the major expectations everyone has of him, I think there's a lot of emphasis put on his looks when he's more than that. I can't wait to see his progress in the future.

Warning: Spoilers
This series deserves a high rating .those who put low rating are those who didnt undrstand the story, those who hate the actors. & those SOOD fans who dont like the remake .Why'd you put below 5 without even watching? Obviously .you'll want ATCY rating drop.this remake was made not to compete the OG but to show to those who are choosing the language & settings in which they are comfortble.. they made diffrences but that doesnt change the plot as a whole.a lot of people can understand w/out watching the OG. And if you are not patient enough.bter not watch..choose your genre and rate accordingly..
