Great movie!
pdrandolph11 October 2023
This movie took the subjects of anxiety, depression and suicide and approached them in a way that teens can relate. There was a positive message about seeking help for any kind of issue and not being ashamed about it. Each character was dealing with their own feelings and mental issues that were caused by situations that were unique for them. Their friends helped them to confront those situations and emotions in positive ways after they finally opened up about what was actually going on in the minds and hearts. It also showed that not everything we see on the outside of a person lets us know what is going on inside. Overall this movie had some great moments of laughter, heartache, and perseverance.

A Movie With A Message, Family Important
christinemeier15 October 2023
I had the opportunity to see this film on October 10th for its one-day release and I was captivated by the storyline as it made me laugh and cry. Filmed on location across Oklahoma, the film does not just tell a story; it initiates a conversation, mixing threads of adventure, authenticity, and real-life issues that plague our society, notably among young adults. A journey through depression, suicide, and the monumental task of finding one's place in the world, making it not only a movie but a message. The movie deserves to be seen on more screens, provoking thought, dialogue, and, helping to make a perspective change about mental health especially among families with teens and young adults.

A Full, Faith and Life Adventure
dpsitecompliance15 October 2023
From the moment the movie started, I was drawn in-the characters, the scenery, the music, mention of God and faith, humor and a touch of romance. The acting was exceptional. The scenery was beautiful (Oklahoma, you surprise us!). The story was well planned out and flowed perfectly with the actors, the conversations about mental health and the story line.

The story line may focus on the younger generation but all generations will highly enjoyed it, as I did. Mental health (depression, anxiety, anger issues, suicide, etc.) are honestly addressed, bonding relationships (with young and old), real, raw life situations, outstanding views and adventurous discoveries.

This movie is a keeper! I would watch it again and again. Definitely need it on DVD or You Tube. A high five to all involved in this movie and all solid stars! You guys did a great job and produced a film people need to see!

New Age Adventure meets Realistic Struggles
sethmnone16 October 2023
This film speaks to the millions of teens seeking affirmation from today's destructive social media universe. Through the creative storytelling of Kyle and Sean, WRWR captures the audience through raw emotion and serious issues constantly faced by adolescents. Go on the 2hr adventure with the talented cast and learn each and every challenge they face to ultimately serve witness as mental health advocates for all age groups. We all struggle, we all hurt. But no one has to struggle and hurt alone. There are resources and people that care who are willing to go beyond the standard expectation. Have hope.

Inspiring & Encouraging
triggs-4530514 October 2023
This movie touched on what many of us go through in life, especially something teenagers and young adults face, often in silence. Not only was the movie inspiring and encouraging around a tough topic, but also gave clear and practical examples on how we should walk thru tough times! And ultimately, it was really fun to watch, and often had me on the edge of my seat!

If you have a youth group, mentor young adults, or have teenage children, this is definitely a film worth watching with them! It will help open the door for conversation and hopefully cultivate a deeper relationship with your teens!

The movie overall didn't come correct.
fredunderland5 February 2024
Yo, this movie tried to get real about teen struggles but gotta keep it a hundred - it ain't hitting the mark. The whole movie was all kinda weak, not even close to what we expect. They tried to drop a positive message about seeking help without frontin', but the whole vibe was off.

They had their own drama, but the way they handled feelings and mental stuff was low-key lacking. The friends helping out felt forced, like they were just throwin' it in. The movie overall didn't come correct. It just didn't live up to the hype, straight up. I recommend you don't waste your time with this one peeps.

Best movie ever set in Oklahoma! (But it's truly great!)
desmonddornak14 October 2023
Even as a Christian, I've never laughed (and cried) so much in a faith-based movie...because they're by-and-large terrible (besides maybe VeggieTales).

Pleasantly surprising, genuine, and heart-wrenching performances across the board. There's a long take monologue that had me in tears. Although there's a moment that a character literally throws a Bible- the film never beats you over the head with it. It's an authentic look at Christianity that doesn't give you all the answers. There are definitely some beautiful moments for the believers in the audience, but the majority of the movie is accessible and can be appreciated by believers and non-believers alike. The humor is sharp and the dialogue is current and raw while still being family-friendly.

Sure it's got some limitations as an indie film, but it has what most indie films don't: purpose, heart, and hope. Layer on top of that a great synth-y soundtrack, striking landscapes, and a cast with great chemistry, and I can't recommend WRWR enough.

The film as a whole didn't live up to expectations.
scanscapework5 February 2024
This movie attempted to address teen struggles with anxiety, depression, and suicide, but unfortunately, it fell short in various aspects. The acting, writing, and production quality were below par, not meeting the usual standards. Despite the attempt to convey a positive message about seeking help without shame, the execution lacked impact. Each character dealt with unique challenges, but the portrayal of their feelings and mental issues felt lacking. The friends' involvement in helping them was somewhat forced, and the film failed to engage the audience effectively. While it touched on the idea that appearances can be deceiving, the overall quality of the movie didn't quite deliver. Despite some moments of laughter, heartache, and perseverance, the film as a whole didn't live up to expectations.

Riveting, entertaining, family friendly
thestarcatcher13 October 2023
Every once and awhile a movie comes long that is real, honest, touching and relevant. This is one of those movies. And yet, sprinkled in with just the right amount of humor to keep it real.

If you know anyone dealing with Anger, Anxiety , Depression then this is a movie that touches on all of those emotions, yet does it very delicately, with a message of hope!

A little bit Goonies. A little bit Stand By Me, A little bit Breakfast Club. And yet, a movie that stands all on its own.

Riveting, entertaining, and family friendly.

Highly recommend for all to see. Watch with a friend, you just might make someone's day.

The issues depicted in the movie feel watered down
hildaarani10 February 2024
This film, an evidently low-budget attempt at a contemporary spin on The Breakfast Club, falls short in capturing the essence of its inspiration. The dialogue and acting come across as contrived, lacking the authenticity needed to resonate with viewers. The issues depicted in the movie feel watered down and fail to reflect the complexities of real-life challenges faced by young individuals. In my sincere assessment, it seems like a production crafted by a group of church members, possibly from the youth group. If you have a penchant for such movies, you might find "What Rhymes with Reason" more to your liking. However, I wouldn't recommend subjecting today's teens to this film, as they are likely to critique it harshly and dissect its shortcomings.

Real and raw and funny
benlrandolph11 October 2023
I've watched this film two times now and I love how real the characters seem. They are very relatable. It's a raw storyline that pulls you in at the beginning when the friends decide to commit and go on an adventure together. It's a beautiful story that unfolds from there. They commit to each other and to the idea of an adventure. As they go on this journey they learn things about themselves and each other, but most of all they face some of their deepest feelings and thoughts. And their friends are right there along side them to help them and live them and to be there to just LISTEN. Sometimes that's what's most important is to just be present and to listen.

A fun and adventurous movie for all ages
cqphffm14 October 2023
I grew up loving adventure/treasure finding movies like Goonies and National Treasure. What Rhymes With Reason fits right in with that genre. The adventure and puzzle solving by the characters was fun to follow along with and to try and solve too.

Like Goonies and National Treasure, this is a fun movie for people of all ages. The full theater I saw it in had a mix of kids, teens, and adults. I loved following along with all of the characters and you could tell they had great chemistry.

Some of the undertones of What Rhymes With Reason is the discussion about mental health and getting help when needed. We were able to have conversations with our daughter that were opened because of us seeing this movie.

Overall, I really loved this movie and can't wait to buy it when it release home.

A Heartwarming Cinematic Journey: "What Rhymes with Reason"
pabloescoto4 April 2024
As a parent, it's a rare delight to find a family-friendly movie that not only entertains but also educates and uplifts. "What Rhymes with Reason" is one such gem that resonated deeply with both my daughter and me. This film tackles mental health gracefully and positively, making it a standout in its genre.

The characters are the heart of this story, each meticulously crafted with layers that unfold beautifully on screen. Their well-defined differences and individual struggles are portrayed with such authenticity that you can't help but root for them. And yet, despite these differences, they discover a collective strength in their faith-a powerful message of unity and support.

The soundtrack is another highlight, not just a background noise but a powerful tool that seamlessly blends with the narrative to enhance the film's emotional depth. It's no surprise that the songs found their way into my Spotify playlist almost immediately, as they continue to evoke the same emotions I felt during the movie.

Visually, the movie is a feast for the eyes. The cinematography captures the essence of the story with every frame, making it a character in its own right. The after-credits section, a valuable educational addition, was particularly enlightening, offering a glimpse into the creative process and the real-life stories that inspired the film. It's a testament to the magic that can be achieved when art is pursued for passion rather than profit.

In a world where cinema often chases after blockbuster thrills, "What Rhymes with Reason" is a refreshing reminder of the power of heartfelt storytelling. Here's to hoping that we see more of such inspiring films in the future.
