Awful mix of comedy and revenge fantasy from Thailand

Warning: Spoilers
HEADLESS HERO is a truly pitiful Thai comedy with very poor production values and an almost entire lack of storyline for the first hour. The first hour merely consists of various characters sitting around and chatting incessantly, while nothing happens to further the plot aside from the setting up of a few protagonists and a few foes. There's plenty of so-called 'comedy' on offer here, however, although it consists of actors mugging at the camera and pulling funny faces, so I have the feeling it doesn't translate too well outside of Thailand.

There are a few scenes of Thai boxing to pad out the running time still further but this is no ONG BAK, seeing as the production values are non-existent and the direction is awful. Inevitably for a Thai film, there's also some elephant riding thrown into the mix amid all the bad acting and attempts at humour. After what seems like forever, there's a gruesome murder set-piece, at which point the film becomes a supernatural revenge fantasy with some cheap gore effects and the title finally makes sense. It goes without saying that it's far too late in the game for this to have any effect on the viewer's non-enjoyment of the movie. The only plot elements I noted were a murder copied from COMMANDO and the inclusion of a random moment involving 'miracle midgets', friendly ghosts who assist the protagonists. A bigger load of nonsense you'll be hard pressed to find...
