I watched this show as a re-airing at the end of March. I'm sorry I didn't watch from the beginning. It gave me the same feeling I had watching "Oddities" on Discovery. A strange mix of can't look-away uneasiness plus this is pretty cool plus what's up with the these friggin' characters. The subject matter and customers are unfathomable to anyone who hasn't been attached to a pet in a really specialized way. I really don't share their feelings although the death of my dog and cat caused me some surprise mourning. I expected myself to deride the principals as dumbass hillbillies but I couldn't. The main guy has that sort of crazy-look-in-the-eyes look that you associate with gasoline huffers but it doesn't appear he's like that at all. I liked him. The helpers in the shop, in all their weirdness, remind me of people I know right here in South Jersey. Some of the family things were a bit forced but I'll overlook that simply because they showed a skun (de-skinned) dog. On TV. Then chopped it up to make a casting. On TV. All without rubber gloves. My toes were curling.
