In 2012, newly single Dave Kroupa moved to Omaha, Nebraska, with the hopes of getting back into the dating game. He’d just come out of a long-term relationship, and he was eager to make new connections. He created an online dating profile and met Liz Golyar, a single mom and animal lover. Soon after he met Golyar, another single mother, Cari Farver, walked into Kroupa’s auto shop to have her car repaired. He felt a connection instantly.
So far, so familiar. However, Kroupa could scarcely have predicted what would unfold from there: a twisted, tragic love triangle that put him and everyone he cared about at risk. His story is the subject of Lover, Stalker, Killer, a new documentary from Curious Films (Running with the Devil: The Wild World of John McAfee), which crafts a shocking tale of harassment, digital deception, and murder.

Netflix isn't afraid to explore the lives of controversial figures in ways that shake up their reputations in recent years, particularly in the documentary department. Like "Tiger King," the recently released documentary "Running With the Devil: The Wild World of John McAfee" tells a story so wild, viewers aren't sure what actually happened. Also similar to "Tiger King," those who appeared in the documentary claim they've been misrepresented, and the documentary itself has made headlines.
"Running With the Devil: The Wild World of John McAfee" tells the story of eccentric tech mogul John McAfee a year after his death, interviewing those who knew him and breaking down his tumultuous life and career. If you're confused about who John McAfee was, we've broken down his career, his death, and the revelations of the documentary.

Of course, “Top Gun: Maverick” (Paramount/19.99) is the #1 film on all VOD charts its first week and probably will be for a good while — but it wasn’t the only success. As theatrical attendance hit new lows with no new product and aging summer hits, this might have been the biggest revenue weekend ever for home viewing platforms.
The VOD sites are now benefiting from the theatrical play summer hits including “Maverick,” “Nope” (Universal/19.99), and “DC League of Super-Pets” (Wbd). among debuting releases — none of which are available on the studios’ streaming sites. Meanwhile, Netflix seems to be counter-programming with a heavily original lineup that includes titles that may have once been intended for theaters.
Of note — “Maverick” is for sale as a digital download initially, not just a 48 hour rental. At this point after release, this would be normally, but usually after an earlier period of rental only. “Spider-Man: No Way Home...

Netflix viewers are currently being stunned by the life events of antivirus technology mogul John McAfee.
Running With the Devil: The Wild World of John McAfee, released on the streaming platform this week, follows the controversial businessman as he flees Belize after being named a person of interest in the death of his neighbour Gregory Faull.
It then follows him on the run again in 2019 from US authorities, crossing the Caribbean and eventually to Europe where he was arrested at a Spanish airport. He died less than eight months later after allegedly killing himself in his cell.
Following its release on Wednesday 24 August, viewers took to social media to share their thoughts on the “wild” story of McAfee’s downfall.
“John McAfee is possibly the most interesting person to have ever lived,” one wrote on Twitter.
“I’ve seen 3 or 4 documentaries/documentary series about him and each time is from...
