Kiera Swan is a nod to Keira Knightley's Elizabeth Swann character from The Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Her accolade, "two-time winner of the Obsidian Sphere" is presumably a championship, but the name actually derives from the Black Pearl, Jack Sparrow's pirate ship. Knightly played Padme's body double, Sabé, in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999). Her name was misspelled "Kiera" in the credits.
The box is a series of rooms containing deadly traps, much like the Cube movie trilogy.
Bounty Hunter Derrown is based on an unused design by Ron Cobb for a plant-like cantina alien for Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977).
When Anakin goes to Yoda to talk about Obi-Wan, Yoda tells him: "If you leave, help him you could, but his future, uncertain it is." This line is very similar to what Yoda tells Luke in Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980) when Luke leaves Dagobah to help Han and Leia.
The 'Jedi fortune cookie' message that opens the show reads "The strong survive, the noble overcome."
