Disappointing
jpismyname26 December 2022
The film is about a content moderator named Lyra who begins to experience strange things at work after her colleague commits suicide.

The movie explores the work life of a content moderator. What they do alone is terrifying, I would've quit immediately if I even start to work in such job.

Anyway Nadine Lustre is really great in portraying the introverted Lyra, but her character isn't really explored much so I didn't really care much about her. Louise de los Reyes and McCoy de Leon are good as well. The other cast members could've acted better.

I was expecting a good movie after seeing the trailer.

The story started out good and interesting, with a few tired cliches here and there, but it later became dull to watch. The very slow pace makes it quite boring. The whole movie itself isn't very scary, except maybe for a very few scenes. The climax is really underwhelming, and the ending is unsatisfying.

What a let down
riothero8 January 2023
A seemingly fresh take in the Philippine Horror cinema turned out to be a cliché supernatural revenge story.

The hyped up and promising premise of someone working as a content moderator being the protagonist of the horror story wasn't fully explored. There wasn't anything compelling with Nadine Lustre's character, Lyra, and we don't know anything about her besides being introverted and seemingly good at her job because of something that happened in her past.

One of the most powerful thing horror can do is to bring to light an uncomfortable truth about society or a specific fear of it. The movie could have stand on its own without its supernatural elements since there are a lot to be explored about the topics regarding how dark the human psyche can become within and outside the confides of the internet.

Dry climax, wasnt up to its expectaions

Deleter, despite its intriguing premise, ultimately fails to live up to its potential and leaves viewers wanting more. As a fan of thought-provoking films, I had high hopes for this movie, anticipating an engaging narrative and well-crafted characters. Unfortunately, Deleter falls short in several key aspects, resulting in a lackluster and unsatisfying film experience.

One of the major issues with Deleter lies in its underdeveloped plot. The initial concept held promise, promising a thrilling exploration of technology's impact on our lives and the ethical dilemmas it presents. However, the execution falls flat, as the storyline lacks depth and fails to delve into the thought-provoking themes it initially introduces. As a result, the film feels disjointed and fails to deliver a cohesive and satisfying narrative arc.

Another letdown in Deleter is its poorly fleshed-out characters. With a cast of potentially interesting individuals, one would expect compelling performances that draw the audience into their emotional journeys. Unfortunately, the characters in Deleter are superficial and lack the necessary depth to truly engage viewers. Their motivations and actions often feel contrived, and their development feels rushed and underexplored, leaving the audience disconnected and uninvested.

While Deleter may have had the potential to be a captivating film, it ultimately falls short of its own aspirations. The lackluster plot and underdeveloped characters prevent the movie from reaching its intended impact, leaving viewers with a sense of disappointment and unfulfilled potential.

Not worth watching
lordanobille30 December 2022
Deleter is a movie that unfortunately falls short in terms of plot, acting, and scares. The plot of the movie is not well-developed and lacks coherence, making it difficult to follow and engage with.

The acting is also not up to par, with the performances feeling wooden and unconvincing.

Additionally, the movie fails to deliver any real scares, with even the most supposedly suspenseful moments feeling flat and uninspired.

In fact, some of the horror videos on Tiktok are more frightening and effective at creating a sense of dread.

Overall, Deleter is not worth watching due to its shortcomings in plot, acting, and scares. It is better to save your time and energy for a movie that is more engaging and well-made.

Deleter
Screen_O_Genic21 March 2023
One of the most successful Horror films from the Philippines, "Deleter" takes on the rarely discussed life of the content moderator and expounds on the awful and grisly nature of the job with a corresponding tale of horror and revenge. A troubled, vape-imbibing young woman with a job as a "content moderator", someone who edits videos of all kinds (and the awfulness that implies) is haunted by her past and present which eventually catches up to her. Filmed in dark tones the corporate world of Metro Manila is the setting in this sordid tale of darkness and vengeance. With her exotic allure Nadine Lustre is the star as she ably leads and steals every scene with her portrayal of a disturbed and fundamentally unsympathetic young woman whose unpleasant and self-serving nature prove to be her undoing. The film shows the underlying hypocrisy and plasticity of human interaction in the capital and hence the world and is a representative work of the times. The movie sacrifices flash for reality by limiting the CGI / special effects and is a double-edged sword. While making the film less juvenile by limiting technology the film fails at times to convey the nightmarish scenarios it tries to convey by at times flat attempts at realistic real-time horror. The movie slips here and there in trying to get the right balance and the inconsistency marrs what could have been a topnotch film. Viewing this nonetheless it's good to see Philippine film finally catching up with international cinema by utilizing the strengths of Hollywood with good directing, sound casting, consistenly solid acting, seamless cinematography and a well-written, realistic script. While flawed this is worth watching for Nadine Lustre and for anyone who wants a good unsettling scare with a different slant to it.

This Movie Should Be Deleted
hellochiegarcia2 January 2023
There were a lot of useless scenes and the few jumpscares weren't enjoyable to watch. Their intent to make this movie a slowburn wasn't achieved -- it's just plain and dry. There's no real climax. The storyline and scenes aren't even coherent at all. It's past an hour into the movie and still not one good scene.

Some lighting is good but the rest of the movie is just overly darkened to no purpose.

Overall, it's not worth the hype (if there ever is hype). No need to watch this if you are looking for some good horror. Maybe if they did another round of brainstorming in the writer's room, they can save this movie.

THE DELETED ENDING
ez_magdales1 January 2023
I watched the movie at the last day of 2022 and it was worth the price. If you're in a dilemma whether to watch this or not, you should give it a go.

There were scenes that were really terrifying and it'll bring you to the edge of your seat. The first scenes will show you a background of their work and the terrible job of a content moderator. Also, you will be informed by how the job works and what are the psychological trauma it brings.

The plot was a bit slow and the movie all throughout was an OK but the ending really was ambiguous. To be honest, there were scenes that made me confused because of the flashbacks but the plot twist saved it. Wasn't expecting with the closings of the movie as I was wandering with so many questions. But I guess it was good to end that way to let the viewers interpret the plot.

Not to mention the professional cinematography and the transitions. Especially when Nadine was in that bar.

The age limit shouldn't be R-13 because there were absolutely scenes that were sexual, abusive, and can really start a trauma. So my best advice would be having a thick skin.

Overall for me, it was a bit cliché but I truly enjoyed the movie and it was worth the hype.

Warning: Spoilers
I feel like a movie snob, but here is my honest opinion (small SPOILER ALERT)

Unrealistic, Apathetic and Misplaced. 3 words describing this movie. There's this seemingly great plot but the creators could've pushed it further. It seems like they read something out of reddit, then built a linear story with horror clichès. Very lazy on the storytelling. Loud unnecessary sound effects. Laughable world building. No empathy for the actual content moderators. The actress, an ok acting, but if you're guilty of something and is losing your mind, you won't still be pretty during and after the mental breakdown scene. The other supporting actors, it felt irrelevant, especially the IT guy. Even the security guard was unprofessional. A BPO building with dark lobbies?! Really?! Obviously, the writers never had any mental problems all their life, they can and will never relate to trauma or any mental health problems (i assumed).

I was disappointed since i really love Birdshot but heck, this is a disaster. Not worth watching.

A wasted opportunity for a great concept.
ar_jake031616 February 2023
I get why there are mixed reviews about this movie. The concept is new, it is not everyday that we get to take a look at a life of a "content moderator" - and an industry that not everyone is aware of yet something relatable since everyone uses social media. This could be why the reviews are kind of extreme. Some people really love it and some hate it. As a horror fan, i find it disappointing. Given the new plot and concept, it really has great potential but it failed to deliver. The slow pace, the failed build up of characters, problematic and illogical timelines killed it. I've seen this type of genre where it banks on psychological and eerie ambience which should have worked for this type of story but it just didn't for me. Probably because there are too many unnecessary scenes. I have to give it to the main actress (Nadine) for her acting and I totally admire her portrayal of the protagonist. If you are looking for a jump scare or unexpected twist then this is also NOT for you. The story apart from the concept is also nothing new and is very predictable. A wasted opportunity for a promising concept.

DELETER IS WORTH WATCHING! Don't believe the negative reviews placed by KathNiel fans here.
Honest_Reviewer3230 January 2023
Having won the most major awards and a number 1 box office spot in the Film Festival is already enough reason to watch this most talked about film of the year. It was so good that it reached international audiences and was extended to still be shown in cinemas the following year.

The plot was thought-provoking, catches everyone's interest, original and believable. What made it enjoyable to watch was the unexpected jump-scares & gripping scenes that turned the cinemas into a roller-coaster ride.

The themes and tone really matched the film with symbolism used in good taste.

The acting of the leading actress Nadine Lustre was outstanding breaking the mould of relying on love teams for a film's success, she surprised everyone with her acting chops displaying a different side of her in this movie. She had the challenges of having computer screens as her co-actors and carrying the entire film by herself.

The Direction, Score, Cinematography, Production Design, Special Effects and Editing were all world-class. It was indeed a masterpiece by the Red Brothers and Nadine Lustre.

Warning: Spoilers
Every one is saying it lacks not scary not worth watching bad concept and story but it's really not the scariest horror i've ever seen in a while but the scares the acting 100% better the story is good too.

The movie is a girl lyra who is a content moderator she had childhood trauma before for anyone who didn't know if the the mother or the dog who got killed lyra said that he's mother left them and the dog is the one who got killed it trick our mind. The end of the movie lacks because there will be a sequel said by the director during their interview in the movie. I give the movie 9 out of 10.

IT'S HYPE OR NOT IT'S STILL A GOOD MOVIE
graciadasjuvil-2190517 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The movie it's not really the most terrifying film but the performances and the scares are absolutely good also kudos to nadine lustre but i think louise delos reyes needs an award too she also had a great performance as aileen ''LET'S GO TO SPOILERS'' A content moderator lyra (nadine lustre) who deletes videos like violent, sexual, exploitative. Lyra's chilhood which everyone said it lacks it doesn't lyra said in an interview that her mother left them when she was a child. But i think they didn't much add more about the content moderation. The end where really the people said it lacks i think there will be a sequel because in an interview of the cast and the director. To the scares is the scene where lyra sees herself recorded in the screen look in the side and sees a camera falls and then she sees aileen that scene is genius although the movie is still good.
