Fall is upon us, and so is Hulu’s list of every title coming and going from the streaming service in November.
Among the list of arriving titles is a new episode of Hulu’s original monthly anthology series, “Into the Dark.” November’s episode is called “Pilgrim,” and claims to be inspired by true events — in which a woman invites a bunch of Pilgrim re-enactors over for Thanksgiving dinner. But things get spooky when the “actors” refuse to break character.
Other new arrivals include Season 5 of “You’re the Worst,” described as a modern look at love, the complete first seasons of “Dollface,” about a young woman re-entering the world of women, “The Accident,” which begins with a deadly explosion at a construction site, and “Love Island: Australia,” an answer to the U.K. and U.S. versions of the beloved reality dating show.

Looking for a mix of known and lesser-known horror films to try? Here's a bunch of suggestions...
Low-budget or independent horror films are nothing new, but they’ve experienced a mini-resurgence in recent years. The trouble is, many of the best and most interesting examples are extremely difficult to find, and even the most discerning horror fans are left scrambling for what to watch. To help, then, here’s a list of some of the genre’s undiscovered gems you’re perhaps yet to discover.
Discovering Bigfoot
A deep dive into the legendary mythical (or not?) creature, Discovering Bigfoot is the first full-length documentary to allegedly capture real live footage of wilderness experts and professors - including the renowned Dr Jeff Meldrum - interacting with the elusive Bigfoot. The film follows the brave researchers as they explore Sasquatch Country, discovering along the way that what we...

The instant I heard about 31 Days of Horror, I knew I wanted to write about Bigfoot movies. The idea came to me so quickly that it seemed to exist almost without genesis, as if I had somehow plucked the idea from some endless, ageless chthonic crypt populated with nothing but amorphous spirits built of mostly-forgotten esoteric genre-pictures wandering the non-Euclidean cyclopean masonry of the mythical grindhouse of history. The idea seemed so perfect- and so in my wheel house- that when it came time to actually write the thing I was struck with the confusion that had gripped so many of my friends that I had told about the idea. “Why do you want to do that?” was the second most popular question, right after, “Are there four Bigfoot movies worth talking about?” and while I knew the answer to the second (a resounding yes, hence why you’re reading...

And the hairy monster in the woods found footage train continues — The Lost Coast Tapes, The Woodsman, Bigfoot County, Exists, Willow Creek — with the latest film to hop aboard coming, inexplicably, from producer Drew Barrymore‘s Flower Films. All the ingredients are here, from the small town wary of outsiders to the Rv filled with outsiders who come rolling into town with digital cameras filming their every move, from the deadly mystery to the cheesy denouement, from the endless bickering to fill screentime to the questionable camera footage. Welcome to Happy Camp. The opening onscreen text tells us that Happy Camp, CA has reported over 627 missing people in the past 25 years, the highest number in the continental United States, and clearly that’s more impressive than simply saying there have been 628. One of the missing is a young boy named Dean Tanner who disappeared in 1989 while playing with his adopted brother Michael. Twenty...

The second Bigfoot flick to hit DVD in the past six months, The Bigfoot Tapes is a found-footage film that sees a documentary filmmaker, his brother and his girlfriend investigating Bigfoot sightings in Siskiyou County after hearing a 911 call from a man claiming his dog was eaten by Bigfoot. Setting out to interview the man who had the encounter with Bigfoot, what follows is captured footage of a series of distressing, unfortunate events proving the existence of this terrifying creature’s existence.
Writer/actor/director Stephon Stewart brings us yet another found-footage horror flick. However unlike a lot of its contemporaries this film follows a tried and tested documentary-style formula, bringing us what can only be described as “The Blair Bigfoot Project.” Now I’ve said it before,...

Grindstone and Lionsgate Home Entertainment recently released Bigfoot County on DVD and we had a chance to talk with director Stephon Stewart about the making of the film. Continue reading to learn about his thoughts on the Bigfoot myth, the challenges of getting the film made, upcoming projects, and his advice for independent filmmakers:
Have you always been interested in the Bigfoot myth? What can you tell us about your experience with the myth growing up?
Stephon Stewart: Ever since I was 10 years old I have been fascinated with the legend of Bigfoot. I remember my mother showing me the famous 1967 Bluff Creek footage and she would say that is America’s King Kong. That footage has always gave me chills back then and still does to this day.
What inspired you to write this screenplay? Was any of this based on real life accounts or something from your past?...

Director/writer: Stephon Stewart. Cast: Stephon Stewart, Davee Youngblood, Shy Pilgreen, Sam Ayers, and Don Scribner. Some cryptozoological legends do not want to be put on stage, and quite honestly, that should be respected. In Bigfoot County, three filmmakers may not know what that means. They will be going into a dangerous field to get famous. But in Siskiyou County, North California, this area is famous for numerous sightings of this dark furry beast and no one from around the world will be watching. Maybe the creatures from Orleans, California have moved to Siskiyou, or they are a different family altogether. Anthropologists should note that these two areas are very close together. When this film references the famous Patterson/Gimlin footage, just where these beasts are from can be hard to say. And they are very camera shy. But according to the trailer, they do not want to be bothered.
