The truth will set us free

I gave this documentary a rating of 9, however I was conflicted due to the nature of what I was watching, should I rate highly the absolute reality of war? A war that I can remember but not how it was now being presented to me. I feel this should be compulsory viewing for our younger generation to impart to them the brutality of what WAR is.

I watched out of respect for the men who fought and died in the Falklands but it left me with something that I never thought possible.....many mixed emotions that only when watched you will understand.

A long overdue lesson on the human cost of War

This is a must-see film for all involved in the decision to send people to War - voters and politicians and of course the military hierarchy who make operational decisions. Men who fought and survived talk for the first time about how their experiences have affected their lives ever since. They are a 'Band of Brothers' and they all stress how those who were not there cannot comprehend their experience. Simply but sensitively filmed - all credit to Director/Producer Guy King.

Faithful portrayal

This is a moving and beautifully crafted documentary charting the depths of brutality that war inflicts upon its combatants.

Told through 10 separate interwoven accounts, it shreds all of the pretences of glory and glamour associated with warfare, and shows how each individual copes in different ways with the long life consequences.

It's an outstanding piece of filmmaking - highly recommended.

One of the very best .

This documentary is excellent . The guys they have commenting are treated with respect and only asked highly relevant but probing questions. Those being interviewed say themselves they're nervous and many of them have never previously discussed what theyre about to. We have every aspect of the impact of war on humans covered at all levels from the CO to his soldiers . They open up and anyone not affected by what they talk about on any , never mind multiple levels has no soul. They are all heroes and did their job but at what cost 40 years on ? Even the apparently most level and settled debate their demons by the end of it .

The program interweaves their commentary into the wars telone and that is a very effective way of doing it .
