Monza (Italy), Sep 11 (Ians) Red Bull driver Max Verstappen, who were demoted five places because of grid penalties, fought back to win his first Italian Grand Prix on Sunday as the race ended behind the safety car.
Pole-sitter Charles Leclerc finished runner-up as Red Bull denied Ferrari a home victory at Monza while Mercedes driver George Russell, who started the race third, finished third.
“We had a great race. We had a really good race car and we were controlling the gap and then the Safety Car came out. Unfortunately, we didn’t get a restart,” Verstappen said after the race.
While Verstappen was elated with his win, Leclerc was disappointed after losing a chance to win Ferrari’s home Grand Prix.
“The end was frustrating. I wish we could have ended up racing. It’s a shame. I gave it all. I wish I could have won in front of the amazing Tifosi,...

Well… Oscar night 2022 was certainly one to remember. Many obituaries will have received their first lines last night, and there’s a few moments that will appear half way down for some of them.
But – here’s the good news: Sian Heder’s Coda won Best Picture, and genuine living legend Troy Kotsur took home the Best Supporting Actor award. It may have been a surprise for some, as Jane Campion’s The Power of the Dog was hotly favoured. In the second piece of excellent news it was Campion herself who took home the Best Director gong, many would argue it’s long overdue.
Elsewhere Encanto, Will Smith, Jessica Chastain all took to the stage to collect their awards, and it’s pleasing to see another year when the awards were well spread out. It’s a sign of an industry in fine fettle, which is just as well given,...

This marks Japan’s fifth overall trophy in the Best International Feature Film category (which prior to 2020 was called Best Foreign Language Film). Back when the category was non-competitive, the country was awarded with three honorary Oscars for “Rashomon” (1951), “Gate of Hell” (1954) and “Samurai, The Legend of Musashi” (1955). “Departures” (2008) and “Drive My Car” are the two Japanese film to claim victory against nominees in the modern era.

The Caped Crusader isn’t just cleaning up Gotham these days, he’s also cleaning up in cities from coast to coast as the Dark Knight’s latest big-screen outing, The Batman, easily held onto the top spot in its second weekend of release thanks to a lack of major new competition. Raking in 66 million in its sophomore frame, Warner Bros.’ bruise-black reboot featuring Robert Pattinson beneath the cowl continued to draw impressive audiences a week after the movie came out of the gate as the second-biggest North American debut of the pandemic era—behind only fellow comic-book crimefighter Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Playing in 4,417 theaters, the PG-13-rated tentpole managed a robust 14,942 per-screen average. The Batman’s second week take fell -50.7 from the previous weekend, but as hefty as that sounds, it’s actually not as steep of a drop-off as most recent superhero movies.

It was a good morning to work for Netflix. The streaming service which was once kept at arm’s length by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences—and which Steven Spielberg once attempted to prevent from getting more Best Picture nominations by going directly to the Academy’s Board of Governors—is now the toast of the Oscars 2022 ball. Indeed, this morning’s Academy Awards nominations showered the streaming service with 20 nominations, 12 of which were for The Power of the Dog, more than any other film.
Jane Campion’s Western scored the most love in at least the Oscar nomination process with nods being picked up for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, and four acting nominations, including for Benedict Cumberbatch, Kirsten Dunst, Kodi-Smit McPhee, and in a surprise, Jesse Plemmons. Certain shows draw you into a new season like a long-separated friend's familiar hug. All the time that's passed, the months and months we've waited. It's all forgiven the second we see that train again.
Snowpiercer Season 3 Episode 1 immerses us once again in the frozen wasteland of a bleak and disturbingly possible future. The action now chases the hope of a warming planet and a potential land-based home for humanity.
Where Snowpiercer Season 2 began with the shocking takeover of Snowpiercer by Wilford's Big Alice, effectively turning two trains into one, we begin this season after Layton, Till, Josie, and Alex manage to split the Snowpiercer engine and a few cars off to create a pirate train in order to retrieve Melanie's climate data.
With a lot of action taking place on both trains, the double narrative runs the risk of growing bulky and unwieldy. After all, with six months of...

The “Final Destination” franchise lives again.

Lori Evans Taylor (“Wicked Wicked Games”) and Guy Busick (the new “Scream”) are writing the screenplay based on a treatment by Watts.
The film is set to debut on HBO Max.

Syd has dropped a video for new song “Fast Car.” It’s her second solo single since 2017 following the release of “Missing Out” in February.

Things get steamy, not only from the temperature outside, but from the palpable chemistry between the two women. They’re humorously interrupted by a friend, but it doesn’t derail the couple’s passion.

Drive My CarI like to think the euphoric standing ovation Ryûsuke Hamaguchi received after the Cannes premiere of his Drive My Car makes up for the one he never got for Wheel of Fortune and Fantasy, unveiled last February at the online-only Berlinale. In the space of five months, the Japanese director has delivered two luminous gems, and his latest is the second adaptation of a Haruki Murakami text to be unveiled in the official competition since Lee Chang-dong’s Burning in 2018. It is based on Murakami’s novella of the same name (available in the English-speaking world in the short stories collection Men Without Women). In it, a theatre actor and director agrees to helm a production of Anton Chekhov’s play Uncle Vanya at a festival in Hiroshima, all while struggling to overcome the death of his wife, who passed away two years prior. The actor-cum-director is Yusuke...

Haruki Murakami’s short story “Drive My Car” is a sleek, streamlined slip of a thing that nonetheless, in the author’s signature style, packs an awful lot into its lean sentences. It’s a grief-stricken marriage story enfolded in a corrupted friendship study, related in turn via a separate tale of odd-couple companionship, all told in fewer than 40 pages. On the face of it, one might question the wisdom of turning such a precisely worked miniature into a three-hour movie, but Japanese director Ryusuke Hamaguchi’s deft, wise, whisper-soft adaptation of “Drive My Car” never feels like an overextension of its delicate material. Instead, it pursues a kind of cinematic stillness to match Murakami’s plain, serene prose, and takes things suitably slow — this is the kind of film where the opening credits arrive 40 minutes in — as it ponders just how much time can heal all wounds.

Starring Bob Odenkirk, Nobody was directed by Hardcore Henry's Ilya Naishuller, was written by John Wick's Derek Kolstad, and is coming to 4k Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on June 22nd. In support of the upcoming release, I was able to catch up with stunt coordinator (and second unit director) Greg Rementer, who has been involved in some of the world's biggest and best action movies, including Atomic Blonde and Avengers: Endgame! During our interview, we talk about prepping for the movie's memorable, close quarters fight and increasing the scale and intensity for the movie's action-packed finale.
From the writer of legendary action film John Wick, comes Nobody, the story of an ordinary, family man who will stop at nothing to defend what is his. Nobody is available to own for the first time on Digital June 8, 2021 and on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray™ and DVD on June 22, 2021 from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.

Emma Stone is apparently a huge fan of Planes, Trains & Automobiles and does an excellent impression of an iconic moment from the John Hughes classic.
The Oscar-winning actress dropped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday to talk about her new Disney film, Cruella, before going in the complete opposite direction with the F-bomb rant Steve Martin delivers in Planes, Trains & Automobiles.

With Happy Hour and Asako I & II director Ryūsuke Hamaguchi’s stellar triptych Wheel of Fortune and Fantasy picked up for a U.S. release by Film Movement, we’re now looking to see when his second film of 2021, the Haruki Murakami adaptation Drive My Car, will premiere and get acquired. With rumors of a 170-minute runtime, the first teaser has now arrived.
Starring Hidetoshi Nishijima, Toko Miura, Masaki Okada, and Reika Kirishima, it was reported the story follows a stage actor and director happily married to his playwright wife. Then one day the wife disappears and, two years later, the hero is appointed the director of a theater festival in Hiroshima. There he is assigned a mostly silent young woman chauffeur, an encounter with more significance than he at first expects.
With a Japanese release planned for this summer, we imagine it may time up with a festival debut at Cannes.

Following up the stellar Happy Hour and Asako I & II, Ryūsuke Hamaguchi’s streak continued last month with the premiere of his latest film, the triptych Wheel of Fortune and Fantasy. Meant to be a small-scale project filmed while he prepared his next film, we’re hoping U.S. distribution for his Berlinale premiere arrives soon, but in the meantime, we have the first look at his second feature of 2021.
Hamaguchi’s Drive My Car, staring Hidetoshi Nishijima, Toko Miura, Masaki Okada, and Reika Kirishima, is adapted from Haruki Murakami’s story, first published in the English-language anthology Men Without Women. Singer Kanika Kapoor has opened up about her experience of being ridiculed in the media and trolled online, after she became one of the first Indian celebrities who tested positive for Covid-19. "It was a tough time. It was more shocking than anything else, to see people just say anything without knowing the reality of the situation," exclaimed Kanika.
Last year, after the 42-year-old had announced testing positive for coronavirus for the first time, it was reported that the singer-songwriter had attended high-profile parties, instead of going into isolation after arriving from London. She had faced flak for not revealing her travel history and the Uttar Pradesh government had filed a case against her.
"It was really sad to see that people wanted to be so mean, despite knowing someone is so unwell. I (really) think it was quite bad and mean," she says. "I hope people learn from it...

So how insane was that?
In many ways, this is the Empire Strikes Back season where Snowpiercer Season 2 Episode 9 literally lands Layton in The Swamp, while Snowpiercer Season 2 Episode 10 capped the season with Han still in carbonite... sorry, Wilford still control of the (majority of) train.
The unfortunate truth is that because the first season finale, Snowpiercer Season 1 Episode 10, was such a phenomenon, arguably the best season finale in recent memory, even the massive combined shock of the pirate train and Melanie's gone-ness in this second season finale suffered in comparison.
Season finales are measured on a different scale than typical episodes. They require satisfying resolutions to the season's conflict while intriguing us with future developments. While we are definitely intrigued, I'm betting no one's feeling particularly satisfied at the moment.
As the curtain fell on Snowpiercer Season 2 Episode 8, Wilford had regained control of Snowpiercer, and no time is wasted...

The name of the game was "Confrontation" on Snowpiercer Season 2 Episode 7, where Till, Audrey, Ruth, Layton, and Alex were all forced to face some hard truths.
But the big shocker was the fact Kevin is alive. Genius.
Till solving the mystery of who has been coordinating the Wilford cult was almost overshadowed by everything that happened.
And while I've had a sneaking suspicion about Pastor Logan's motivations for a while now, his willingness to offer up the breachmen deaths in the name of restoring Wilford's Order was still shocking.
Wilford's obsession with total loyalty is disconcerting when viewed clearly.
On Snowpiercer Season 2 Episode 4, he reminds Audrey that he saved her when he made her slit her wrists. Near as I can tell, it's what made her his in his eyes. In the Night Car, he was desperate to find that scar again.
What's that adage about when you save something,...

This Snowpiercer review contains spoilers.
Snowpiercer Season 2 Episode 4
Two of the more curious aspects of Snowpiercer is the fact that there’s a cabaret/bar/talk therapy center called the Night Car and that the tea room has become the de-facto church for anyone on board the train who still has faith in some sort of higher power. The need for religious services and entertainment is a known factor, but the fact that both the Night Car and the Tea Room serve more as locations for counseling than their original locations is interesting, to say the least. Like everything else on Snowpiercer, adaptations have been made during the time the train’s been rolling across the frozen world, and the Snowpiercer that Mr. Wilford enters into for the celebration of science is much different than the one he’d envisioned.
The biggest thing that Snowpiercer did with the introduction of Mr.

For vintage Japanese classics Arrow is the place to be this summer. Yasuzô Masumura’s complicated tale of industrial espionage is an attack on the free enterprise system — even good people will do terrible things to get ahead, to prevail over the competition. It’s Tiger Car Company against the Yamato Car Company, winner take all. Plus, the extra feature The Black Report is not filler, but a terrific murder prosecution story, with Masumura’s patented dose of acid cynicism and murky misanthropy.

But we begin today with news about Oscar season and word that, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences is continuing its shutdown and will not be holding any in person events through the end of the year – at the very least. Hearst Magazines’ digital and print staff has voted overwhelmingly – 241 to 83 – to unionize with the WGA East in an election administered by the National Labor Relations Board. The new bargaining unit includes some 500 members from Hearst Magazine’s editorial, video, design, photo, and social staffs across 28 digital and print brands, including Esquire, Harper’s Bazaar, Cosmopolitan, O (The Oprah Magazine), Town & Country, Car and Driver, Road & Track, Autoweek, Popular Mechanics, Elle, Elle Decor, Food Network Magazine, Good Housekeeping, Seventeen, Best Products, Bicycling, Country Living, Delish, HGTV Magazine, House Beautiful, Marie Claire, Men’s Health, Prevention, Runner’s World, The Pioneer Woman, Veranda, Woman’s Day, and Women’s Health.
The staffers announced their intention to join the guild last November, but management refused to recognize the union voluntarily and waged a protracted legal battle at the Nlrb in an attempt to delay the election and divide the bargaining unit into six separate groups.

Netflix has been the saving grace of millions during the quarantine that has forced everyone inside in the midst of our ongoing global pandemic. As a matter of fact, Us Netflix subscribers are averaging 3+ hours a day on the streaming service, indicating that a fairly substantial part of everyone’s lives is catching up on movies or binging their favorite shows. The virus has even caused an all-time high for Netflix stocks, resulting in the company becomeing worth more than Disney. If that doesn’t blow your mind, nothing will.
That said, it’s been up to Netflix to ensure everyone continues to receive quality content to keep them entertained, and so far, they’ve been doing a really great job. May has seen an influx of fantastic films and shows, and there are sure to be plenty more to come when June rolls around.

In Universal’s long history of memorable monsters, the least personable must surely be the devil-possessed automobile that hits and runs through the southwest in one of the worst reviewed movies of its decade. Nonetheless Elliot Silverstein directs as if he believes it and Jaws-With-a-Car has survived as a goofy artifact of the auto-obsessed culture of the period.

This week’s Trailers From Hell movies are about cars, in one fashion or another. We do not recommend drinking and driving – of course – but, once you are home, unscrew the cap on something mechanical for your viewing pleasure. You can take it out of the brown paper bag first, but don’t bother with a glass.

Contrary to popular belief, the Japanese are not totally averse to watching war movies, with Clint Eastwood’s Letters from Iwo Jima and Peter Webber’s Emperor being fairly well-received in recent years. However, those films undoubtedly owed their success to the presence of revered Japanese actors Ken Watanabe and Toshiyuki Nishida, boy-band idol Kazunari Ninomiya and the calmly authoritative Tommy Lee Jones (who is so big over here that he fronts a major coffee brand). Given that Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk offers none of the above, one wondered how the Tokyo media conference, held at the plush Roppongi Hills complex on Thursday […]...

Marvel Music/Hollywood Records have released the digital versions of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: Awesome Mix Vol. 2 songs-only album and Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 original score album by composer Tyler Bates (“Guardians of the Galaxy,” “John Wick Chapter 2,” “Watchmen”).
The film opens in U.S. theaters on May 5, 2017.
Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 is filled with great action, humor and performances, but it is also infused with a new mixed tape and soundtrack, a dynamic that resonated deeply with audiences in the first film as evidenced by the success of the soundtrack album.
