This show was much better than this episode

I really loved this show and was disappointed that it wasn't renewed (although the writing really fell off towards the end). But the premise of this episode is a absolutely ludicrous. No commercial pilot who wants to keep his job would ever jeopardize his crew and passengers (and plane) to land at a closed airport, with no tower, in Papa Doc's Haiti, in 1963, for a passenger who just had a heart attack on the hope that maybe, eventually, some doctor, from somewhere, might be able to help before he dies.

That said, there are some powerful moments.

This episode reminded me it was an ABC series...

Warning: Spoilers
The writing is the stupidest I've seen lately. First they land on a deserted landing strip, in the middle of nowhere. Then try to find a doctor, when logic would want you to think that closed airport, means bad news. But they went with it anyway, deep into the jungle, took an illegal with them, let the aircraft's door open. So people with riffles can enter. And offer them diner, because they were just hungry. The best part however, was dropping the passenger. The one that caused them to land, because he was having a heart attack. Dead corpse on the tarmac, to make room for said illegal. Who will most likely be escorted back to her country, after the whole debacle is handled by the head of the company. The way the stewardesses were having each other's backs was cute, but are we really led to believe they are going to keep their jobs. After violating all the company's rules? Normally, they wouldn't. But who wants realism on TV, right?

so far, the worst episode of basically a decent series

This has been a pretty good series so far but so many things were stupid on this episode that I had to lower my rating by at least two. I was a pilot back during the time when this is set so finding an airport and runway in the dark is virtually impossible and add that to taking off with nobody moving the airstairs and shortened runway get really stupid. But then again, it's just a TV show. Overall, the series and the actors do a good job to tell the stories and what it was like to fly back in the early '60s and.'70s. Flying use dot such a formal thing so men all wore suits and ties and ladies got dressed up. Thank god it's not like that anymore.
