Having rather enjoyed the first series I was pleased when I heard that ITV would be airing a second series. This time the action takes place in Indian Kashmir where kidnap negotiator Dominic King has been employed to facilitate the payment of the ransom after a family has been kidnapped. Things go wrong then the police show up; this leaves the father of one of the kidnappers dead and the other two along with one of the victims on a tourist bus; this means the kidnappers now have a bus load of western tourists so they can ask for more money. Of course it isn't long before the police have the bus surrounded and it looks as if they'd rather storm it with the consequent loss of life than give into any demands. This mean Dominic will have to work quickly if he is to retrieve the hostage he'd been bargaining for. Unknown to just about everybody at this point there is a high value hostage on board; the Florence Holland; daughter of the Foreign Secretary. Once the kidnappers realise who they have everything changes and their leader decides he can sell her to a terrorist group for a substantial sum.
This series was enjoyably in the same way the previous one was; there were some decent twists along the way, some shocks and a satisfying ending. The always reliable Trevor Eve did a fine job as Dominic and was able supported by Hasina Haque and Madhur Mittal as kidnappers Leela and Anwar and Kimberley Nixon as Florence. While there are plenty of unlikely moments that doesn't stop the series being fun to watch; I wouldn't be at all surprised if it returns for a third series in another picturesque corner of the world.
