Castle & Beckett operate separately in this episode set in Atlantic City, investigating skullduggery in the casino business. The actual story goes off in several amusing directions, but the best news for fans is that Fillion poses as an Elvis impersonator with an elaborate hairstyle and costume, and actually plays straight in and out of character, a marvelous extended gag. That reflects the segment's somewhat audacious mix of comedy, in-jokes and the weekly necessity of solving a case in fine fashion. Supporting cast assist both Beckett and Castle in their separate activities, while boss Penny jokes that she wanted to see if Beckett could get the job done without the mystery author sidekick tagging along.
