A lot of fun

Season 4 Episode 8 "Fugue" was highly enjoyable to watch and I can only imagine how much fun it must have been for the cast. The appearance of yet another highly imaginative Abnormal that threatens to break the bonds of a strong friendship.

argus733 i don't know what your problem is and why you find it necessary to slate the producers of the show just because you didn't enjoy it.

Thankyou Mr Kindler for every episode so far. I have only recently discovered Sanctuary after browsing Amanda's filmography, and have enjoyed it immensely.

I usually hate musicals, but I really enjoyed this episode!

Many shows tend to try and spice themselves up by trying all sorts of unique approaches, such as musical episodes. I can recall at least one musical episode of Xena: The Warrior Princess, and while I can't recall the specifics, I can vaguely remember other sci-fi / fantasy shows trying it as well.

Like the title says, describing myself as someone who's generally not a fan of musicals would be a major understatement. Surprisingly enough, I really enjoyed Fugue. I usually find musicals extremely dull and boring, as if the singing was supposed to be enough to carry the entire show on its shoulders. Obviously, not the case here. Fugue, just like any typical episode of Sanctuary, comes with an entire arsenal of tools meant to tell its story, with the singing being just one of them. We get the usual doses of drama, sci-fi and horror, delivered by great dialog, awesome visual effects, and yes - this time also by singing.

I really don't get the extreme negative reviews this episode received. They kind of made me wonder if those reviewers really bothered watching the entire episode, or perhaps just used the singing as an excuse to bash a series they didn't like to begin with. Even if you don't like the singing, this episode has plenty of other things to offer, and I consider it one of the better episodes of the series.

That's the creators of this show want to know what killed viewership, I would be more than happy to send them a copy of this episode. It was absolutely cringe-worthy. Watching this episode was pain for the entire 42 minutes. Horrible...

A Unique and Enjoyable Episode

To be perfectly honest, "Fugue" was one of my absolute favorite Sanctuary episodes. Why? Because it was so unique. People have claimed that the musical aspect of this episode is cheesy. Maybe so, but still, this episode was enjoyable and fun.

I am a huge fan of Amanda Tapping's and all of the actors really, and I also love music, so it was a pleasant surprise to get to see all of them sing! I can only imagine how fun it was for them to perform for that episode.

Not only was it enjoyable, but "Fugue" was also a climactic point in Will and Abby's relationship. Both of them finally admitted their love for each other in an emotional, heart-wrenching scene.

I could watch this episode over and over again!

I like sanctuary, but...

This episode was bad. Obviously the singing had a major part in that. It was just stupid. But besides that, it was not well written. The character interactions were not believable. Will's aggression toward Magnus comes right out of nowhere. The FBI nooblet (whose name I can't recall) has a few parts in the plot and then just disappears until he's needed again. Henry was just there to fill space. The British Sanctuary guy was there for some reason, but didn't develop at all. Magnus hallucinates that her father sings to her (again with the singing). Oh, Kate and Biggie are nowhere to be seen. I don't remember seeing them, but if they were there it was only briefly.

This is the first time I've written a review on IMDb. Why now? Because I like this show and this episode was a big disappointment. This show had so much potential. ("had" because it got canceled)

The episodes involving the Five, the super abnormals (Kali/Big Bertha, Canaan, etc), and the build up to the discovery of Hollow Earth were all very interesting and hinted at a bigger picture that made me want to explore it with the characters. (The actual Hollow Earth episodes were disappointing and anticlimactic.) This episode was just filler; silly, mind-numbing filler.

No surprise the children didn't get this episode. You actually have to go to a real stage play to get this. No doubt the cast loved it - no doubt the writers had a horrible/great time also. This actually took real adult brainwaves to sort out.

I crashed a script rewrite all this week - just for 15JUN -- hearing something simple was on my list. Stunning - to strive for this level of writing.

"Have I become a monster?" - "We never use that word."

Amanda and Bynes - Gregory Magnus singing his daughter through a tough flog - is !! cool - him using his own song in a personal quiet way. If folks cant get that --- whatever.

OK I love the show, to bad that it was cancelled after four seasons, but this episode started really nice with the fighting of an abnormal and then finding out that it was Abby. I thought that it was going to be a great episode. But then the singing started. I immediately flashed back to the BtVs episode: Once more with feeling. Another great show which was ruined by making a musical episode. Why do writers do this?? do they run out of ideas??? Also what happened to the good story lines that all the previous episodes had? I really hope that the next episodes of the season will be better written. Once again great show only to bad that they put in a musical episode.

Absolutely diabolical

A truly terrible episode. I am not in the least bit surprised that this show has now been cancelled. Singing?! Really?! It's bad enough when comedy shows do that, but sci fi? Just no. Sanctuary has always been a bit hit and miss but I was willing to forgive the occasional dodgy episode because I understand that there must be stringent budget constraints. This episode, however, was a good dozen steps too far. I finally created an IMDb account just so I could vent my utter frustration at this garbage. It's taken all the will I could muster to not unleash a torrent of foul and abusive language. Homecoming was bad, but this was horrific.

I feel shamed for even having to give this episode a single-star rating. It should be a fat ZERO. My wife and I hated the awkwardly contrived singing scenes SO much we were forced to skip through the episode and only watch the 15 or so minutes of actual acting. And, while I'm at it, even those parts were very weak. There was no real plot development. "DamKin" overused already pointless characters in unnatural ways. I wish I could carpet bomb every Broadway show he ever attends with pamphlets about how sing-song shows kill brain cells. Damkin should have stuck to producing and let the other guys do the writing. If you like musicals so much, make a musical show. That way we few intelligent fools who are tripping over your clumsy writing can avoid you like the plague. Worst episode EVER!

It was like being forced to watch your grandparents have sex and not escape. Please damien, tell me what your favorite Broadway show is so that I can change it to one about graphic animal husbandry or tip toe through the slaughter-house. After watching that, maybe you'll fully understand what you've done towards getting your show canceled. Tivo got the next one or I wouldn't have seen it. To use the cliché of finishing everyone else's sentences just to appear smart, only works if you take the time to do the background research first. Otherwise you're just throwing glitter in the air and having every other person say one syllable of "Ohh Shiin neey". Anything else just implies that we, The People Who Make Your Paycheck Possible, are as lazy as you. Feel free to write me back. I never say anything that I'm not ready back up. If you can out write me for creative concept, I'll publicly retract my statements and apologize.

Okay... Love the abnormal sin the show but.....

I finally fast forwarded thru this entire thing until I could see the monster then went to the next episode! How did the actors agree to this!? More scarey than any abnormal😬
