Amnesic

When the fireman Paul Satterfield is found murdered in the woods, Lisbon and Patrick investigate the crime scene. Patrick goes near a lagoon where a man drowns him. However, he is rescued, revived and sent to the hospital. When he awakes, he is suffering amnesia and has forgotten his work in CBI, becoming a swindler again. Meanwhile the agents investigate the life of Paul and learns that he was a heroic fireman that ignored the rules and recently risked his life saving the life of a local. Further, his wife has a love affair with a fellow colleague. Patrick plots a plan to catch the killer while Lisbon decides to take an ultimate attitude expecting to force Patrick to recover his memories.

"Fugue in Red" is an episode of "The Mentalist" where Patrick Jane is amnesic, bringing back only the worst of his complex personality. Lisbon's decision to bring his trauma back is very wise and recover the mentalist from CBI. My vote is eight.

Interesting Episode

Warning: Spoilers
While Jane is investigating a murder he encounters an accident and loses his memory. Initially I thought it was part of the plan but then realized that it was real. The best thing for (a viewer) about it is that he doesn't remember his team mates and that he is "presently" a psychic. His past life of a fraudster takes command and it is fun to watch him tease and trick his own team members. Eventually Lisbon has to do something drastic to bring him back.

Jane's story was actually more interesting than the actual crime that happened and that makes this episode a good watch.
