Watchable, but sort of mediocre...
paul_haakonsen6 August 2022
After having enjoyed watching the 2020 "The Lego Star Wars Holiday Special" and the 2021 "LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales", I must admit that I was looking forward to watching the 2022 "LEGO Star Wars Summer Vacation" as well.

And while it was watchable, however, I must say that the 2022 "LEGO Star Wars Summer Vacation" wasn't as funny or enjoyable as the previous two Lego Star Wars animated movies were. Don't get me wrong here, because I am not saying that writer David Shayne and director Ken Cunningham didn't deliver here, because they did, it was just lacking a bit in entertainment value.

The storyline fell a little bit short of capturing my full interest. Sure, there were pieces here and there that were good, but the overall impression was, as Emperor Palpatine said in this animated movie, "meh". It felt bland and rushed.

There were some good small references to all trilogies throughout the course of "LEGO Star Wars Summer Vacation".

The animation and graphics were good, as it usually is with these Lego products. And they had a good group of voice actors and actresses for the characters.

All in all, a watchable attempt, but not a spot on attempt. My rating of "LEGO Star Wars Summer Vacation" lands on a five out of ten stars.

A New Lego Star Wars Special With More Than What I expected
welabreky6 August 2022
I still love watching the Lego Star Wars specials when they come out for their fun Lego humor and the sheer amount of references to other Star Wars projects.

When I played this short I thought it will be all about Finn and the others having fun time but it got more better by featuring more and more legendary Star Wars characters.

In conclusion, A not long and funny Lego special that can bring some joy to your day.

Good For Kids

Lego Star Wars Summer Vacation is the latest in a long line of Lego Star Wars movies (some being direct-to-video, but newer ones have since been released exclusively on Disney+). In this adventure, Rey and her friends, arrive aboard the Halcyon, a luxury star cruiser owned by Lando Calrissian, who is the newly appointed ambassador of the Chandrila Star Line, Finn wants to spend time doing stuff with his friends because it may be the last time, but they do their own thing. Thankfully, Obi-Wan Kenobi and the spirits of other Jedi come to console him, as they tell stories about other vacations gone wrong.

This special is basically a collection of stories set in various times of the Star Wars franchise, with the main story being set after the events of The Rise of Skywalker (as well as the other Lego specials set after the ninth film). From Obi-Wan teaming up with Colvett Valeria from The Freemaker Adventure for a heist during Jabba the Hutt's barbeque birthday, to a tale of Darth Vader helping Emperor Palpatine enjoy a vacation on a beach where a party by Vic Vankoh, a character voiced by legendary singer/comedian Weird Al Yankovich, is held, each story taught a good moral to Finn. Also, the stories are neat, despite the Lego movies being their own continuity and not connected to the movies and the various TV shows, cartoons, and movies Disney tends to release in bulk to connect the gaps, and it may not appeal to the older Star Wars fans, but kids will love it, as the voice acting is well done, and the stories are neat.

Just Not Funny
RustyBoyz10 August 2022
The original Lego Star Wars videos were hilarious and very entertaining. Some of the other recent Lego Start Wars episodes have been ok. This one was just not good at all.

The whole family watched it together, and at no point did anyone laugh at all except maybe a half-hearted chuckle here and there. And the flashback moments were just a reminder of way better Star Wars moments. My kids even started yawning halfway through and asking when it was done.

Disney, you can do better and not just expect everyone to automatically like it because it's Star Wars and Legos.

Disney doesn't really have anything to give
ties-7615311 August 2022
Why is disney just using old good characters with old characters in the hope we will like the new ones.

The writing also isn't that good, even the general style we get from "lego" writing sucks.

Great family TV movie

Finn, Poe, Rey, and Rose are on vacation in the luxurious Halcyon starcruiser (of Walt Disneyworld fame-I see what you did there, Disney!) to celebrate the end of the war. Former stormtrooper Finn has planned this getaway for his pals to give them one last hurrah before they all go their separate ways. But despite his best efforts and a rockin' Hawaiian shirt, his plans have derailed. Poe can't stop scheduling activities, Rey just wants to sleep by the pool, and Rose isn't sure if heroes even take vacation! Poor Finn, alone and bummed, attempts to drown his sorrows in the starcruiser bar. It's there that the action really takes off, as he's visited, A Christmas Carol-style, by three ghosts, who attempt to teach him something about letting go. Our final ghost is none other than General Leia Organa. She's the only one that Finn knew personally, so it makes sense that her story would be more personal than the other two. Her vacation story involves Han and teenager Ben taking a detour before they drop their son off at Jedi training. Han wants to visit sites of his past, while Ben just wants a chance to fly the Falcon. On Endor, past and future meet when Ben, through a series of mishaps involving a cute girl and a bully, ends up at the controls in an asteroid field made of Death Star debris. Ben must literally navigate the garbage of his family's past to get to safety. The story ends with something that a huge section of the fandom has been clamoring for: a Ben/Leia hug. Watching Ben skip off to the Jedi temple while knowing what awaits him there definitely gave me the feels-the happy vacation is even more precious than Han or Leia knew because it will be their last as a family. Force ghost Kylo Ren appearing on the Halcyon, coupled with Leia reminding Finn "no one is ever really gone," is a touching moment that will no doubt send Reylos into a storm of theories about whether Ben Solo is indeed truly dead for good. LEGO Star Wars is known for its Easter eggs and movie callbacks, and there are here in force. All three trilogies are represented, as well as the standalone films Solo and Rogue One.
