The speech Josh recites while on the run in the woods is a famous speech by Winston Churchill during the Battle of Britain in WW2. It reads: "We shall go on to the end. We shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be. We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender!"
Reid and Garcia discuss apparitions after Reid startles Garcia. He provides a scientific explanation for most psychic phenomena, but then adds, "I do know a three year-old boy that once met a friendly apparition named Leverett Saltonstall." Reid does not explain the name further, but Leverett Saltonstall was the governor of Massachusetts from 1939-1945, and U.S. Senator from that state from 1945-1967. He died in 1979.
