Enjoyable characters and good action but needs a second series

Warning: Spoilers
When Kyohei moved to Tokyo he thought he had left his past but one day after a party he and his friend Hibino find a dead body in a lift and soon after Kyohei's old friend Aki appears. We soon learn that Aki had been imprisoned in their village for committing a particularly heinous crime but has escaped along with his 'kakashi'; a large wooden doll with incredible powers that can be commanded by 'Seki'; individuals selected to control the dolls. He isn't the only seki about; soon more turn up including Kyohei's younger sister, Utao Kuga, and her Kakashi which is called Kukuri. Over the course of the series the various Kakashis fight several times and we are shown the characters' back-stories and introduced to several new characters and learn a little more about the Kakashis. I've tried to keep plot details to a minimum to avoid spoilers.

I rather enjoyed this series; the story itself was decent and the characters were fun to watch even if some of them were a bit cliché; a mystery twin separated from his family at birth; a yandere girl who is obsessed with the main character and a potential villain who isn't quite as bad as we are first led to believe for example. These clichés didn't bother me though as I liked the characters. I feared there might be excessive fanservice after we are shown Kyohei accidentally walking in on the large-breasted Hibino when she is in the shower but thankfully that was the extent of the fanservice; in fact even the classic beach episode managed to avoid it! There are more than a few loose ends left when the series finishes and it is hinted that there is more to come; whether or not a second series will be made I don't know; it certainly needs one.

These comments are based on watching the series in Japanese with English subtitles.

Fun Journey.

This turned out to be a very mature well written story with good animation and interesting characters and twists. It's about a young man named Kyohei Kuga from a remote village with a huge secret from the rest of the world leaving and going to school in Tokyo. That secret is the Kamisama dolls called kakashi, strange constructs no one knows where they came from that the chosen ones mentally bond with and control them called the seki. Kyohei thinks he left his strange village and the kakashi behind. He can't be more wrong. Very well written story that kept my focus thruout. The battles and powers of the kakashi were fun to watch. The characters fun to get to know. I feel this is one of the amazing and fun examples of what makes anime so good, which is why I gave it a 10. I so hope they make a season 2 but it's an older anime so I doubt it. 13 episodes long.
