Interesting form of imagination
sweetasever3695 June 2013
I personally enjoyed the show.. I think it's a show that kids will enjoy because of the concept of how Shezow came to be...Also because many kids can relate to many situations where they touched something they shouldn't have which resulted in some kind of consequence..The way that the brother tries to also become a super hero & reinvents himself each episode is exciting & interesting within itself. They will not get caught up in the controversy surrounding it because they won't see it as a trans gender show. They'll just see it as funny.. Great job to the writers on taking this risk although the negativity surrounding it is not warranted. Good luck on a successful venture...

I don't even. This show is so really bad it is somewhat good(entertaining); it's just what the heck. There are so many tasteless puns and so many lame jokes that it is "shelarious"-ugh(it's actually not funny at all). There are so words to describe how little effort is put into this show; the animation isn't great and the writing might to too lame for kids.

You Search SheZow in a search engine and out of 6 images 4 are inappropriate for its targeted age group. So you know what the internet thinks of it. You know what religious groups and right wing people will think of this show and their tears will taste glorious.

Bottom line- Kids will find it funny, perverts will masturbate to it and Conservative people will complain.

I am not interested in watching the show, but I will be aware of its existence- that is enough for it to have a 7/10.

"She-larious"? or "Pun-ishment"?
uberandrew-account6 January 2013
Overall the quality of this animate show is decent, but nothing to write home about, although the over use of bad puns can definitely turn away many viewers. It's the controversial theme of a 12 year old boy wearing girl clothes that's most notable about this show, and as such is primarily the focus at many points in the show.

Since this show is aimed at children, who most likely wouldn't mind the excess of puns it succeeded in it's goal of being a decent kids show, but unlike other animated shows who can capture a child and adult audience, this will have a harder time capturing an audience of anyone other than 5-11 year old's.

The Animation is bad, the humor is lousy
patrickfilbeck8 September 2021
I don't enjoy this series. Stupid humor, bad word acrobatics, and bad stealing of Batman language settings don't make anything original. Whether the creators of the series felt motivated to appear progressive and modern is also irrelevant for the evaluation, because everything else catches the eye as lousy.

In easy words, Shows about a boy who finds a ring and turns into some transgender hero. DONT LIKE IT. Overall the voices are good and the animation, not so well. At least there is some love to this show.

12 year old Guy Hamdon inadvertently takes on the mantle of the superhero Shezow, a previously female role.
ironia-vitae8 October 2013
I enjoy Shezow immensely! It starts off pretty slow and full of puns, so if that's not your thing, take heart that it eases up a little as it goes on. I really enjoy how Guy grows as a person through becoming Shezow, and I think this is a really important thing to have on-air. For me, the core of Shezow is the ability to find personal power through stereotypically feminine things, no matter your gender. The way that this show ends up handling that is wonderful. Where some other shows might stray down the path of being preachy, Shezow lets viewers grow as Guy does. His breaking out of rigidly masculine socialization feels natural, rather than forced for effect. It lends an air of freedom of personal expression to the show, and is something I am SO grateful to see on television.

In addition to all that, the show is hysterical! Pun-heavy humor calms down after the first few episodes as a better sense of Guy and his friends, family, and hometown develops. There are some colorful characters, especially the array of villains Shezow encounters. This may feel a little contrived in that it pokes fun at the over-the-top superhero genre, but there are also genuinely funny lines and interactions that shine in my memory. The amount of fun the show has with itself comes across clearly to viewers, and the result is a super delightful cartoon.

Not what you think, and more than you expect...
frankefan8 October 2013
The first time I heard about SheZow was during a commercial break while watching the HUB network. At first glance, my immediate thought was along the line of, "Ugh." Followed by a more deliberate thought of, "The animation makes South Park look like The Sorcerer's Apprentice." I decided to pass.

And then... A buzz started. Certain people started talking about this show using certain words. Words like, "propaganda," "agenda," and "THEM." My curiosity was up. I set my DVR to record the next episode. Was I ever in for a pleasant shock.

The show is about a young guy (Guy) and his sister (Kelly) who, along with their parents, move into their deceased Aunt Agnus' house. The two kids, 12-year-old fraternal twins, discover not only that their aunt was the super-heroin SheZow, but also find the source of SheZow's powers, a magic ring.

As Kelly (who just happens to be president of the SheZow fan club) is about to put on the ring and become the next SheZow, Guy takes it from her and puts the ring on himself, jokingly exclaiming, "You go girl!" The ring is activated, transferring all of SheZow's powers to Guy, along with the SheZow costume. Trying to get the ring off, Guy discovers he's stuck with it AND the super hero responsibilities that come with it.

There are a lot of she-based puns. A LOT of them. There are SHE- mergencies. Something funny is SHE-larious. Kicking it in the hot tub is totally SHE-laxing. You wouldn't believe how many things they can fit "she" into.

Among the powers of SheZow: A kind of extra-sensory perception called SHE- S-P. Super strength and speed. A Heavy-Handed Super She-Slap, and my favorite power... Wind Winkers! SheZow can create hurricane-force winds by blinking.

SheZow drives a SHE-hicle which can transform into a jet (the SHE-C-10) or a submarine (the S.S. SHE-Shell).

SheZow's accessories could give Batman a run for his money. Laser Lipstick, Boomerang Brush, Mega Mascara Whiplash, Ballistic Fishnets, Vanishing Cream...

SheZow, however, is not invulnerable. Like Superman with Kryptonite, SheZow does have a weakness... A messy hair-do.

I want to say that my first (less than impressed) impression of the animation was more than made up for by the intricate stories... But I can't. The stories are straight-up silliness, and that's what I really have come to like about it. It's got the bright and flashy for the little ones, immature humor for the slightly older little ones, and just enough adult humor to make the big ones like me "lol" with their nerve to reference Lindy Chamberlain.

I LOVE this show! SheZow has become one of my favorite current programs, and I'm glad I tuned in. To think... If it were not for the negative reports I had been hearing, I might not have ever given it a shot! I hope it gets picked up for a second SHEson... I mean, season.

SheZow
SwitchSwitch36612 August 2023
This is a pretty good show with an interesting premise about a boy who can wear a ring that his aunt previously owned which in turn is able to turn him into a superhero however the catch is that since it was his aunt's powers before he is thus a female superhero named SheZow even though he's a guy (which is funny since at first I initially thought Guy would become female once he transformed but honestly once you watch it the other way around makes more sense).

Another reason why I think SheZow is a unique superhero is because of how her powers work and that there are rules that the wearer must abide by, though some of the powers themselves aren't really original the equipment however is what really makes SheZow shine since its (mostly) all weapons I've never seen a superhero use before.

The characters (well at least the main ones) were entertaining, Guy himself is a decent protagonist but still fun to watch, his sister Kelly was a little naggy but still enjoyable as well, Maz was entertaining and felt like someone I'd want to hangout with and I especially like how he wore different outfits each time he was with Guy (though some of them were pretty average). The villians were dogwater except for a few of them like Mega Monkey, Tattoozala, and Dr. Frankenweather (though admittedly I also kinda liked Candy Rapper).

There are also some references that I noticed like CatDog in that weird dream episode, a scene from episode 13 which reminded me of an episode from early Spongebob, and the episode that referenced Stan Lee's catchphrase "Excelsior" which made me like SheZow even more.

The animation was decent and could've been better at times but if anything I felt like some of the action was lackluster I mean come on it's a superhero show. The toilet humor is another thing I wasn't a fan of.

Overall SheZow is a good cartoon and its a darn a shame it only got 26 episodes, maybe if it was picked up by a big children's network like Cartoon Network or Nickelodeon it probably would've had a chance of sticking around a little while longer. Personally I think SheZow should have been on Nickelodeon since CN already had a lot of quality shows during that time.

Worthwhile cartoon
esgeffen6 May 2013
I really like Shezow. What's not to like. Lets remember who the target audience is, first of all; it is my daughter and her friends, not me. And She loves it. The colors are catchy and the jokes are cute. But what I really like about it is that I think ideally, it teaches tolerance and embraces the fact that there are no absolutes. Sometimes I feel I am putting on my "male" super power ring, when I have to do certain tasks, that does not make my any less a woman... but I digress. My kid and her friends crack up when they watch it and I think they do use their imaginations when they watch SheZow, imagining themselves to be super too.

Love SheZow!
huot234 January 2013
Wow.  This show is innovative.  And like most innovations it will be met with mixed feelings but I love this show.  It's quirky, genuinely funny and has good messages for kids.  One episode deals with stealing, one with empathy, another with jealousy.  It's one strong story after another and I look forward to the next.

There seems to be a lot about it online and episodes get put up and yanked down faster than laundry on a clothes line but I will remain diligent and look for it to be back soon, for it is one of the few shows I will let my kids watch.  In the meantime, You go girl!  Let's not read too much into the concept.  It's just a cute little comedy for kids and nobody needs to make it into anything else.

Yes, the series is full of she-puns and normally I would hate that but these puns are good and they actually got me coming up with my own she-puns.  Unfortunately.  The theme song is an ear worm which I wish I could yank out but at least it's catchy.  The design of the show is fresh.  There's nothing out there that I know of that looks like this and the designer, Kyla May should be applauded.  The quality of the stories do however vary from episode to episode and there have been a couple of stinkers but the great episodes, like Mister Nice Guy and Cold Finger certainly do make up for it.  I think the gender angle of the show will be good for kids if left alone.  That's because it is only one aspect of the series.  Like I said, it's fun, light and good natured.  The quality of the actual animation is spotty.  It can be very good and it can be very bad.  The characters often come off wooden and rigid but other times not.

The series is hit and miss overall, but the genuine comedy makes up for any shortcomings.

She-WOW!!!
stitchesandflicks8 October 2013
This show is pretty fantastic! It's funny, imaginative, and original. I've read some of the negative things being said about this show and NONE OF IT IS TRUE!

A boy and his twin sister find a magic ring that gives the wearer super powers. The ring belonged to their dead aunt (whose house they just moved-in to) and the twins realize their aunt was the super-heroin SHEZOW. Just as the girl twin is about to put the ring on and gain her aunt's super powers, her brother (the more immature of the two) puts the ring on himself and can't get it off. Now he's stuck with the powers and responsibility that come with the ring.

Warning: Spoilers
Not a bad it's fun and entertaining to watch and the puns are great if you're into that.

For a show that was made on a shoe string budget it's pretty well animated and fun to watch overall a typical superhero cartoon with the twist being that the protagonist finds a ring that is meant to be used by a women that he accidentally put on accident since he was trying to mess with his sister and it's stuck with it for life and has to fight crime when he senses danger.

Also the character are lovable and enjoyable to watch and the concept pretty much keeps me watching this show

the only bad part is the cut to commercial that take too long but it's due to Australian TV making it mandatory to have that air on the Ten network.

pretty much I give the show a 9 out of ten review for trying something new that hasn't been tried since Cybersix.

She-mazing
the-doctor-amanda3 July 2013
Warning: Spoilers
After donning Shezow's magic ring, 12-year old Guy Hamdon unwittingly takes on the legacy superhero role of Shezow. Dressed in a hilariously outdated pink costume, Guy must learn how to be fight crime and improve as a person in order to keep the city of Megadale safe. Along for the ride are Kelly Hamdon, Guy's more serious twin sister and self-proclaimed number one Shezow fan, and Maz Kepler, Guy's best friend and constant sidekick.

Initially wary of the position, Guy quickly adapts and becomes an incredibly competent hero, learning lessons and turning situations around in his favor. Furthermore, his distaste for all things "feminine" and "girly" fades away as he realizes how strong and capable he is with the added help of said items.

At first, the series appears to be merely tolerable, as there are many pacing issues with jokes and action in the first few episodes. This coincides with Guy's own awkwardness as he has his entire world view flipped in favor of everything he had previously thought as lesser or untouchable (read: female). It is not until "Glamageddon", an episode that explicitly deconstructs the socially constructed gender barrier concerning the concept of glamor, that both SheZow the show and Guy the character take a significant leap towards progress and greatness. From this point on, Guy embraces his role as a superhero with immense pride. He takes care to perform the actions required of him, including those society deems "weak".

This is a fantastic series for both parents and their children. Yes, there are groan-worthy puns, but this joke form has persisted because of the required quick thinking to develop such clever wordplay; as such, puns are a good thing that shouldn't be hated by the public. After a certain point, the puns fade into the background in favor of well-written character-centric humor. The animation may take some getting used to, but it is well worth it for absolutely beautiful fight scenes. Multi-layered and varied villains with the ability to return and terrorize the city infuse the series with a welcome level of danger and suspense. Finally, Shezow's powers and weaponry are so vast that there is something for everyone to enjoy.

I would highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys animation and children's television. Though it starts out slow, the eventual development transforms Shezow into someone children can look up to as a role model unbound to gender roles and sex.

I think it's progressive and quite funny
lauren-3064 January 2013
The fact that a 12 year boy cannot save the world unless he's in a pink costume meant for a female superhero is quite hilarious. And the fact that he will have to learn to embrace this embarrassing side-effect might actually be something good for kids to see. Maybe this is a cartoon who's time has come.

I found it entertaining and clever, and I think kids will find it funny. The characters are likable and the villains are funny. There are a lot of so-so kids cartoons out there - at least this one is unique.

If conservatives have a problem with it, I hope they actually WATCH it before they judge, because it's really quite innocent. I'm looking forward to seeing more episodes.

Shezow is amazing
priestessofbast22 April 2014
I am 6 years old. I want the toy of Shezow. I want to have a Shezow pillow. I want the DVD's and Mum is making a costume. It's awesome. I want to meet Shezowwwww. I love Shezow because she is pretty and she is a boy who becomes a girl superhero. I like Maz, Kelly and Guy/Shezow. It's a good show. It's cool. Shezow is like me. Shezow has beautiful hair. I like how Guy is pretty cool with the superhero costume even though it's a girl's outfit. He is coming to terms with having a boy and a girl identity. The car is awesome because the glamrock in the car makes it powerful and it changes to become the she c ten. Note from Parent - This review is in my child's own words. She loves the show and I approve of it's concepts. It's written to be funny and entertaining for children not as a statement of any 'hidden agendas'. (Does Bugs Bunny have 'hidden agendas'?)The storyline could use some fine tuning, but what can you really do with a 10min episode, most of them are excellent anyway. Bring on season two of a superhero my child can relate to.

Fantastic!
yucanluu22 November 2018
Amazing show fun for the whole family. My 36 gay son came out of the closet to us through the concept and idea of the show, he told us "Shezow inspired me." and then went out and bought dvd copies along with digital ones of the show. He adored the idea of a crossdressing superhero, and wanted to be just like Shezow. Thanks Shezow, very cool!

Silly but funny
lscolter30 June 2014
I wasn't sure about this show, but it turned out to be funny and kid friendly. I hope they give it a second season, as it had good family values and showed what true friendship should look like. I would like to see how the main characters grow and become adults.

The show keeps it simple, good guys/girls and bad guys/girls. Even the villains aren't all bad or very scary. My kids just think they are silly and funny. I would love to see what new villains they can come up with.

It seems like the producers gave into pressure and canceled a quality program. I hope they look past a few negative reviews and bring back the show and let the kids have a she-tastic time.

The Cheeky Cartoon just got my Interest
galitmarcusmiguel30 April 2016
If it was not for the internet for me to be able to watch this, I will never able to mention a good cartoon that has a place in my heart.

Although obviously there's always be flaws, I really can't find myself getting bored watching it in every episode. Each indeed have a life lesson for kids to learn, while teenagers can see deeper meanings. It's also funny and amusing for me at the same time to see Guy as Shezow trying to fight evil while "being a girl" for a bit so he/she won't be suspicious in the public.

The beginning episodes works out like "testers" if you really going to like the show. It's where "she-puns" go rampant and may annoy you. If you passed, then be happy as they die down a bit. Actually, I was hoping if the creator would reduce this in second installment but it already did in this cartoon. As a plus, the she-puns were timed and gives oomph to the mood of the show.

Well, I have nothing to say here other than the she-puns. Guy's "girl voice" may irritate you but you may get used to it, and I think it's done on purpose. Some complain about the lengthy opening theme but really it doesn't. Anime shows in Japan also have the same length of theme songs on average.

So what can I say to this? I don't like it, but I love it! I just can't get enough of Shezow.

well that is obvious and its See in the 1 episode

i go to the point most of the 26 episodes made you just laugh a lot the show maybe have a lot of "she" jokes but in the majority of the cases them work and even is good for persons than don't know a lot of English because have a simple language, my favorite episode is " Mr Nice Guy " i highly recommend the series please don't scream to the sky for a character who wear woman dress is not a big deal him don't wear it ALL THE TIME AND HE LIKE BE GUY HAMPTOM

and yes PLEASE MAKE A 2 SEASON

Not always perfect, but nearly always funny
merthedil18 January 2015
The animation values are good as Flash goes, and though the central conceit of the show seems like "dude looks like a lady" at first blush, the truth is a little more nuanced. It quickly becomes less "Bugs Bunny in drag, writ large" and blossoms as the (serialized) adventures of Guy and his friends righting wrongs and trying to make it as a super-heroine. Both learning to cope with powers and appearing to be a woman are initially frustrating for the main character, but most episodes join the chorus that "it's what you do that matters, not what you look like or what people THINK you should be like."

Adults sometimes skew a little high-brow or "upper ages", though rarely Shrek-level toilet humor. I'd recommend this title for precocious eight-year-olds and up - way up. If it's on, tape it. If it's taped, watch it with the kids or without. It's not perfect, but the sight gags and throwaway jokes alone are worth the chuckle runtime of an episode.

Season 1
rodricorgom19 June 2016
I came across SheZow on Netflix when I finally restarted my subscription last month. I have never been so passionate about kids shows, but someone mentioned something about it and I decided to give it a try. It was possibly one of the best decisions in my whole life. It's just an innocent show, full of humour, rapid fire puns, and lots of popular superhero tropes, as well as some popular knowledge unadvertised trivia. Although there has been a lot of criticism, most of it looks like a desperate coming out, mainly because some people want to turn a silly plot into an obscure and obscene story. Why? It doesn't matter, why would it be, anyway? If it was as bad as some internet reviews try to portrait it, it wouldn't be enjoyed worldwide by people like me, people who want to remember what being a child is.

I am a trans person who used to watch this show at a young age. I remember really liking it and not thinkinh that it was weird that Guy dressed as a girl. Yes the show mostly worked in stereotypes, but overall the message was good. I wish it hadn't been cancelled and that there were more shows with this type of topic matter today.
