Clever Fun, makes Great use of its Guest Stars,
lesleyharris309 July 2012
The Food Wife is a great Simpsons episode with a well written plot and plenty of very funny scenes. Ir is a very fun episode that takes a simple concept that could have been quite boring and spins it on its head, making it a ton of fun. Seeing Marge, Bart and Lisa become food critics was really enjoyable, particularly as we see Homer desperately trying to be a part of the bonding.

I did think that it could have had a more prominent ending, the whole thing comes to a conclusion very abruptly. It could have had a more heartfelt, effective end.

The episode made excellent use of its guest stars, featuring real life foodies Anthony Bourdain, Mario Batali and Gordon Ramsay. Ramsay's role is particularly hilarious, featuring in a long, weird dream sequence. The highlight for me, however, had to be Adult Swim stars Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim, who were both hilarious in their roles, also having a very funny rap.

It's great fun and a highlight of the twenty third season, The Food Wife is a very enjoyable Simpsons.

After being intrigued by Indian food, Marge and the kids start a food blog together, leaving Homer to feel left out.

Foodies beware, The Simpsons are here
athomed27 December 2011
Couch gag rating: N/A Unfortunately the credits were shortened again.

The episode: After the car breaks down, Marge, Lisa, and Bart find themselves stranded in Little Ethiopia until the tow truck gets there. They decide to bide their time and get something to eat. Marge reluctantly orders the most exotic dish on the menu at Bart's and Lisa's urging.

It's a big hit at the table. A bunch of foodies, led by Comic Book Guy, come there to eat. Marge, Bart and Lisa have such a good time that they become foodies and start their own food blog. Marge has suddenly usurped Homer's position as 'Fun Dad.' Favorite moment(s): Sherbet and the Empire State of Mind foodie rap song spoof.

This episode was excellent. It really gets to the core of how Homer and Marge vie for the affection and approval of Bart and Lisa. We see how selfish they can become when the title of 'Fun Mom' or 'Fun Dad' are at stake, and we ultimately see how they overcome that and become better, more united parents as a result.

Overall rating: This episode is a strong 9/10. The kind of overblown foodie culture showcased in this episode is rife with comedy gold and The Simpsons do a wonderful job of skewering it.
