This episode of Scandal was the benchmark of the Olivia and Fitz love story that set off an evolution in television. Olitz is where romantic ships were born. This episode was written by the talented Jenna Bans and directed by the wonderful Tom Verica. The chemistry between the actors Kerry Washington and Tony Goldwyn is so intoxicating that watching them, I had to literally catch my breath. I have no idea why Shonda Rhimes was obviously jealous of the power of Olitz over the fans. The fans could tell the writers were holding back on their greatness. The Trail is what Scandal was all about and it made the show great the first 3 seasons. Probably the best dramatic episode in prime time. Most fans would agree, the Trail is Scandal at its best.
