Ducky Tie (#7.3)

Warning: Spoilers
Great episode. This is how I like the show. Ted meeting Victoria again was a great part from the past that let them also look at what happened between them. I really liked that. Even though the ending was kind of disturbing. Her saying that him Robin and Barney hanging out can't work out and him saying they figured it out later. This would be too sad for them to stop being friends.

The other story about the bet and the ducky tie was also wonderful. Definitely very funny. I wonder if they will make Barney really wear the ducky tie through the season! All that trying to figure out what Barney's plan was was also good, just like Lily using her boobs to win the bet at the end.

One of the funnier episodes of later himym

Very fun and creative but the the best part about this episode is how the characters are all in the same vicinity, without being at the expense of the different plotlines of the episode.

By a LANDSLIDE, this is the best episode to come out since the second season

Warning: Spoilers
HIMYM has been declining rapidly in quality since the second season, with very few episodes leaving a thorough impression. Thankfully, the seventh season (albeit, very late now) has got off to a very promising start and "Ducky Tie" is one of the finest 22 minutes of the show.

Ashley Williams returns as the insanely endearing Victoria, from way back in Season 1. She remains a true stand out in this episode, as does Barney Stinson. Neil Patrick Harris is always terrific, and in the show, the strongest cast member for sure. Where some of his womanizing aspects are getting very repetitive, what does not get repetitive is his cunning wit. In this episode, he manages to play the viewer and the characters perfectly when he claims to be able to play the role of chef in a Japanese diner. Should he win, he gets to touch Lily's breasts for a given time limit, and should he fail, he must wear Marshall's duck tie for a year.

There are elements of "Slap Bet" in this episode, mostly from a story perspective. However, one of the best aspects of this episode (which, ironically, is usually one of my biggest criticisms) is the excellent use of structure. The story really only flashes back to Ted and Victoria once Barney's storyline reaches a point where it needs to hold a moment. It was clever, and it was funny, because it felt like the writers deliberately attempted to underplay the romantic hinting at Victoria and Ted.

To bring back Victoria and Ashley Williams has been one of the show's best decisions, as confirmed in this episode. I loved this episode from start to finish, and featured plenty of memorable character moments from a group of usually ordinary characters.

Ducky Tie And Lilly's Boobs
slightlymad223 February 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I feel like I write this paragraph a lot, but It needs to be said... Neil Patrick Harris knocks it out if the park once again as Barney Stinson in How I Met Your Mother, as the second episode of season seven, maintains its great start.

Plot In A Paragraph: In the previous episode, Ted ran into Victoria at the Architect's Ball. Since Victoria is doing the catering for the event, Ted decides to wipe his karmic slate clean by helping her clean up. Meanwhile Barney makes a crazy wager with Marshall and Lily in order to see Lily's breasts.

Any episode that features the brilliant Neil Patrick Harris's character Barney Stinson in the main storyline is always excellent. And the "Lilly's Boobs Bet" was great fun. I could go on and on about the brilliance of this episode, and in particular Neil Patrick Harris but I won't bore you with it. Alyson Hannigan and Jason Segel are both excellent here too.

Whilst I was glad the delightful Ashley Williams returned as Victoria, I'm disappointed it only looks live a fleeting return. She remains my favourite of Ted's women.

This was the best episode in a long time.
