You really feel like you learned more about everyone

Warning: Spoilers
When they are grooving together in the bar and rapping the core group here really seems to learn more about each other. And we learn more about them. Straight vibing with the bar piano rapping scene. And Nick's sobering realization after jumping in the ocean. Cece's story about her dad. Jess's deliberate coldness in response to Nick's comment that she can't be real ebbing back to her usual nurturing self. A lot to unpack here.

Thoughtfully Crafted

Warning: Spoilers
As a cancer survivor, I could not be more appreciative of how they took on and handled this episode. As Nick gets a scare of a lump felt in his neck, the gang goes through a whole range of emotions. Obviously some of their feelings and actions are a bit over-dramatic for humor, but what I am proud of is how they told the story of Nick's cancer scare with 100% sincerity. They did not mock what it is like to suddenly be threatened by cancer. They did what many of us do, and try to make light of a situation in order to bury the fear of it all. And when Nick finally allows himself to feel that fear, the gang takes him to go and face another one of his fears of swimming in the ocean. In the ocean, Nick screams the words that people become more aware of then ever when their life has been threatened, "I'M ALIVE!"

Very thoughtfully and carefully done. Class act New Girl Cast and Crew.
