Quotes

  • Anthony Farrar-Hockley : [introducing the film]  In Korea, I was Adjutant of the Glosters when we fought the Chinese at the Battle of the Imjin. Almost all of us who survived the battle were captured and the treatment we received from our captors came as an unpleasant surprise. We naturally expected that the rules laid down by Geneva Convention for the treatment of prisoners of war would be observed. It soon became apparent that the Chinese and North Koreans did not respect any such rules but used methods designed to degrade us and break our morale in order to convert us to Communism - for which we were totally unprepared. We resisted them and they failed. But we had to learn the hard way. This film has been made, based on our experiences and supervised by an officer who was with the battalion at the time, so that you may know the practices of possible Communist enemies, and combat them successfully.
