Not Quite The Trainwreck I Expected
johnnyhbtvs2724 October 2022
Terror Train is a serviceable remake of the original 1980 slasher. It pretty much follows the original beat for beat with a slight sting in the end.

Like the 1980 version, the movie is full of red herrings and only 5 or 6 people really matter despite being on a crowded party train. Robyn Alomar does well in the lead role and makes for a decent final girl.

I was expecting to hate Terror Train but i found it surprisingly less annoying than i thought i would. There are some bad cringe moments but it manages to keep it to a minimum. It was nice to see some of the costumes from the original make an appearance here as well.

Like i said, serviceable.

Pointless and subpar remake
videodude623 October 2022
Terror Train (2022) is a near replica of the 1980 version, sans the original ending which still ended up being obvious anyway.

The main problem with Terror Train (2022) is there was no point in remaking the original with a less attractive and more lame cast, paired with a smaller budget. I'm guessing most of the budget went toward renting costumes and filming a rail yard, no money left for hot bimbos. The premise of a slasher on a party train has so much creative potential, yet it all goes to waste here. A looser "remake" with a sexier cast, and more competent director that better understands the art of suspense and fun that goes with a slasher movie meant this could have been good. But really what do you expect these days? If you're the mood, just re-watch the original.

On a side note, special shoutout to Tubi which has low key become the best streaming service available. While it's main appeal is it's massive library of older movies, at least their originals tend to be minor and on the side of trashy low budget entertainment like a Terror Train remake. Still better than the garbage that other streaming services offer.

Not bad, original is better ofcourse.
smickerr22 October 2022
Not bad at all, original is definitely better ofcourse.

But still not a bad remake.

Acting is mediocre but still ok for this, some of the actors are annoying but you can't expect to much from this.

Some good kills, but low budget, gets abit boring at times but so did the original.

Can't expect to much on a train I guess.

Don't go in expecting to much, but I was reasonably satisfied.

Overall a 6 out 10.

Give it a watch on Tubi, it's worth a watch.

I must say I liked this a hell of a lot more than David Gordon Green's disgraceful Halloween Ends or the ridiculous Jeepers Creepers Reborn..

Lazy and Unnecessary
trustyourforce24 October 2022
The original is a pretty standard slasher beyond its gimmick and predictable villain. I always thought the magic thing was weird. At least they got David Copperfield.

This is one is basically the same. The first 90% is one for one. The only difference is the final twist which you can figure out because they stole it from another classic slasher movie.

They just added the most blatant, cheap modernizations possible: a more diverse cast, social media, selfies, dropping trendy terms like "polyamorous", "snowflake", "canceled" etc...

The "Boy Who Cried Wolf" thing doesn't work after the 5th time.

Production Values are OK.
itsdickiepena23 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This updated version of Terror Train sticks pretty close to the original script. There's slight updates indicating why no one can call for help in the age of cell phones.

The cast of unsuspecting college students is annoying. They don't have redeemable qualities, and I don't think one was likable.

That leaves the viewer rooting for the dark magician, who makes up for the lack of charisma from the other characters. Tim Rozon, from Schitt's Creek plays the magician, and literally, he brings enough to the table that you hope he's the villain, only this time, the villain is more like Robin Hood, saving the audience from the other dreadful characters.

While this film is not a must see, Tim Rozon proves his magnetic presence wasn't just a fluke in Schitt's Creek. He could read from the dictionary, and every syllable he recites would make viewers sigh.

Eh, not that bad
PhilPacker7722 November 2022
I watched the entire movie and felt compelled to write a review, so there, you have that.

My expectations were low, but I actually enjoyed a lot of this movie. It was pretty predictable. Even without seeing the original, it was pretty obvious who the killer was from the start despite trying to throw a string of red herrings at the viewer.

It was mostly well-acted with a few flat performances, but nothing terrible. The kills were mainly off camera but the gore was pretty good when we got to see it.

This movie was mostly a money grab, I think. It didn't seem to have the love for the genre that a lot of the low budget horror movies have, but like I said, it was still entertaining.

Watch the first. Save this for another
d_penn5 November 2022
Makes the same mistake so many reimaginings do. It follows the source material too faithfully and in doing so, fails to differentiate itself in any meaningful way. The character names, the storyline, and even some of the costumes are carried over from the previous incarnation. It's fun to see nods to the original in a remake but they tend to work better when peppered in, rather than constant and impossible not to notice. The problems with this reboot extend beyond the filmmakers' desire to retread familiar ground. The characters are also uninspired and there isn't really a standout player to inspire audience investment. This version of Alana (played this time by Robyn Alomar) is kind of spineless. She comes across as a very kind and considerate person but she spends so much of her time doubting herself and apologizing that it's hard to warm to her. She's likable enough on a human level but she doesn't have enough backbone to effectively function as a protagonist. If she doesn't have faith in herself, what reason does the audience have to get behind her?

Never gets on the right track.
BA_Harrison25 October 2022
A killer crashes a wild college Halloween party on board a moving steam train in order to exact revenge for a cruel fraternity prank three years earlier.

Even Jamie Lee Curtis couldn't save the original Terror Train (1980) from mediocrity; this remake lacks any such star power, and since it follows the original's slasher-by-numbers plot fairly closely, it never builds up a head of steam.

More elaborate deaths and more gore might have helped, but there is a lack of originality in virtually every department, making this an instantly forgettable slasher dud. And if you can't guess the identity of the killer and their (loco)motive fairly quickly then you really need to watch more horror movies (Friday the 13th, for example).

3/10.

Pretty cool remake
kyleallencole924 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I surprisingly enjoyed this remake being that the original Terror Train is a favorite of mine.

This one follows the original extremely close, but adds an interesting twist in the storyline towards the end. I kind of had my suspicions on who the killer was, but I ended up being wrong until I figured it out at the last minute. The clown mask was definitely a creepy and effective choice as well.

The killings were done pretty neat as well, the original didn't show as much violence or gore as this one did.

With it being set on Halloween, I was hoping they would of decorated the train more to look like a Halloween funhouse, would of added a more eerie tone to it.

Otherwise not a bad remake at all.

Generic, but still enjoyable...
paul_haakonsen24 October 2022
Now, I am not familiar with the 1980s horror movie "Terror Train" from director Roger Spottiswoode, so just how much of a copy and paste job director Philippe Gagnon did of the original I have no idea. In fact, I didn't even know about the 1980s movie prior to stumbling upon this 2022 movie and finding out that it was a remake of an older movie.

Writers Ian Carpenter and Aaron Martin put together an adequate storyline and plot here. But of course, I am not familiar with the 1980s movie, so I don't know how different or alike the two movies are. So I cannot compare this remake to the original. And with that being said, then I will say that I enjoyed this 2022 movie for what it was. Sure, it wasn't a groundbreaking horror movie, but it provided me with adequate entertainment.

The cast ensemble in "Terror Train" was good, and I was pleasantly surprised to see Tim Rozon on the cast list, and he was quite good in the movie. Just a shame that he wasn't given more screen time.

For a horror movie, then director Philippe Gagnon didn't exactly break any formulas or go up and beyond what you would expect from a movie such as "Terror Train". But it made for an adequately entertaining enough movie, and that was good enough for me.

My rating of "Terror Train" lands on a five out of ten stars.

Atmosphere And Costumes - That's It
TobaccoSmoke25 October 2022
This remake pretty awful, but I have to give credit to the producers recapturing at least most of the original's eerie atmosphere, the dark night on a train scenario. Also, the clown definitely beats the Groucho costume, and the Lizard was an upgrade too. The killer is more intimidating because of these changes, and that rocks. That being said, everything else ought to be thrown into the garbage disposal. The usual overdone political correction and the bad acting add up to a snooze-fest, not unusual in remakes, especially STS (Straight-To-Streaming) remakes. The original is no masterpiece, but it definitely holds your interest on a cold winter night due to the interesting characters involved, such as the weird magician. I got the impression these actors had to hold back from laughing at the cheesy scripts they were given, understandably. It amounts to nothing more than a joke, after all. So, I recommend exiting this flick after you've had a good look at the cool costumes and then switching to something better on TUBI.

Not great but not bad
marcawarren22 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I do not know why when they make remakes they try to make the same movie. I really liked the original . Wish it had more violence but was a really good movie. This one was like an exact remake which at least they changed up the ending. Tried the old Friday the 13th ending. I like how they had amped up the kill scenes . The acting was ok but not near as good as the original. I wish when they do remakes they change it up a little which in this a lot of the movie was done scene by scene from the original. The change f to New Years to Halloween was like the only big change until the ending. Like I said not bad but not great.

Who is this for?
BandSAboutMovies22 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
A lot of slashers came out in 1980 and maybe Terror Train isn't as fondly remembered by some, but for those that are fans -- like, well, your author -- it works because you truly feel as if you're on a train. You also get some incredible scenery and a killer that keeps shifting disguises, all while the film navigates themes that most movies don't touch forty years later, including hidden love between male friends and a transgendered character that to talk more of would be a spoiler.

Quebec-born director Philippe Gagnon -- well, Terror Train is from Canada -- is working from a new script by Ian Carpenter and Aaron Martin, writers for the Netflix series Slasher. Everything starts just like the original, as Kenny (Noah Parker) is pranked by Doc (Matias Garrido) and gets away with it. By pranked, I mean that he ends up in bed with a dead body. Alana (Robyn Alomar) feels like the gang should confess, but instead the next three years of college go by and find them passengers on a tourist train that conveniently goes through a zone with no signal.

There's still a Mitchy (Emma Elle Paterson). A magician (Tim Rozon) is on board. And yes, the clown gets killed early, just like the first movie. But does it have the magic of the 1980 classic?

The killer only switches costumes here a few times, sticking to that clown costume, while the movie switches holidays from New Year's Eve to Halloween. This also gender swaps Carne the conductor to be an older woman played by Mary Walsh. All of these decisions seem like changes for change's sake; I have no issue with a female conductor but I really miss the steady guiding hand of Ben Johnson and the way he seemed like someone who genuinely cared about protecting his passengers. The lack of costume changes points to a script that doesn't understand what worked so well; a clown is scary, but not knowing who the killer could be is much more sinister.

Another misstep is that in the original, Alana seemed to be someone trying to atone for her past sins, but also had enough of an edge that you believed that she'd go along with the prank. This version seems so unsure of herself that one wonders how she'll survive.

The CGI train scenes and kills take away two other things so great about the first film, one that was actually shot on a train car to give the simulation that we were moving down the rails in the snow. This never feels like it takes place anywhere other than a room. And the weirdest part is there's a Phantasm-style song that sounds so derivative that I was sure that they just followed the example of the Shaw Brothers and stole it.

This trip down the tracks follows the original pretty close until we switch tracks for the last ten minutes. Some folks may not miss David Copperfield and the long dance numbers. I totally do. The original is silly in many ways, but has some really frightening moments and unlike so many slashers, feels like it could happen.

Yet I wonder: who is this for? Anyone who loves the first one is going to be irked before it even begins. Is a train relevant for today's audience? Oh well. I guess the rights were up and someone was going to make it. As always, we still have the original.

Terrible remake
R0TTENC0RPSE7 January 2023
Wow...bad, predictable writing and terrible acting are the headliners in this remake of the the original movie. The ridiculous need to focus on checkboxes, and demonizing certain people is laughable and pathetic at the same time. The lack of original storytelling or any memorable charachters really brings this down a notch. The generic low quality kills and poor effects add to an already sub par outing. The whole clown thing is so unoriginal and so early 90s. Another example of a decent movie being turned into a predictable and uninspiring remake, and missing on all marks. Do yourself a favor watch The Terrifier series of films to see how a slasher movie should be done.

Terror Train 2022 - But Why Though?
dodgecameron-4305926 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
So what's with the CGI train? The movie already doesn't feel like it's really on a train and those shots aren't helping. I honestly thin using some miniatures would've resulted in a better looking train. With that out of the way, onto the story.

Nerdy frat pledge Kenny is promised a kiss from Alana, but what he gets instead is a kiss from a corpse. Now, that is all from the original, but here they actually explain the whole thing about the corpse before the prank even happens, which robs us of the reveal of it in the bed. While this is a change from the first story, it's not a very good one, but we're just getting started. Either way, others involved in this prank are Doc, Mo, and some others I don't remember nor care about.

Now it's three years later, and the friends are going to a graduation party on a train, this time being more around Halloween time instead of New Year's. Frankly, I'm fine with that change, it just gives more reason to make it a costume party. Someone kills a guy in a clown costume at the train station, stealing his costume so as to sneak aboard unnoticed. Now, many people have pointed out the similarity there, but I will begrudgingly defend the remake here. The original wasn't a clown costume, it was clearly Groucho Marx, while the remake opts for a regular scary clown.

On board the train (or maybe before they board, I don't care that much), we learn that the fraternity has a new president who's trying to clean it up a bit (and who apparently doesn't deserve a name - I vote we call him Columbo Jr for fun), upsetting Doc to no end. There's also an edgy magician who acts suspicious, a dude named Jackson in a lizard suit (like the original), a kindly train conductor named Carne, and her assistant Sadie. Killer clown tries and fails to stalk a few people, unable to get to tier 3 in time, and so settles for killing Jackson. Sadie later finds a dead Jackson sans lizard suit, so now we know that the killer has switched costumes. This was one of the big selling points of the original Terror Train, the costume switching meant you were never sure who the killer could be. Unfortunately, this is the only costume switch this time around, which makes me wonder why they brought it back at all.

Yadda, yadda, yadda, dumb, horny students get up to dumb, horny things. Sadie discovers body number one, but becomes convinced that it's just a prank. The lizard kills again, and this time his victim is a witch. We get more suspicious behavior from the magician, more dumb stuff from the students, and more of Sadie finding a body, this time with Alana accompanying her. Meanwhile, in the main party room, Mo has his throat slit while everyone is distracted by Red Herring's (sorry, the magician's) disappearing act. Alana and Sadie get back just in time to see Mo die, and I'm left wondering why I should care. I don't doubt that the actors are probably trying their best here (well, maybe they aren't, who knows), but the characters are just the worst mix of jerkish and bland that I couldn't really care less.

After Doc pulls the emergency brake, everyone finally realizes that this isn't another prank, and are finally a bit put off. At least, I think they are, most of them stand around chattering in a normal way in the immediate aftermath of this revelation, so maybe they're all fine with it. Carne says that the train will resume moving after they get a headcount on everyone present and conduct a search of the train, However, Doc doesn't want to hang around for the headcount, and he and Alana go to a VIP room to lock themselves in. After all, staying in a crowded room didn't help Mo, so how would that help them? Honestly, that's the most sensible thing I've heard all movie, and it actually started to sway me toward Doc's side here. Then I remembered that they were about to lock themselves in the VIP room, and anyone who's seen the original knows that's a sign that Doc is going to die now. Alana leaves to go searching for the magician, figuring he must be behind the killings, Sadie searches the train with an ax, and Doc gets tormented with videos of Kenny in the VIP room. Doc checks all of two places for the killer before giving up, while the lizard just walks up from out of frame, abandoning the cool mirror reveal from the first. Doc's throat gets slit in an uneventful way, and the lizard starts to saw off his head, but it cuts away before we get to see anything good.

Alana, Sadie, and Carne meet up in the party room, and go to the dressing room to check for the magician, who is predictably nowhere to be found. Carne breaks off from the others who make their back down the train, and find Doc's dead body. Unfortunately, we still don't get to see it. We see some legs poking out, a severed head falling out of a closet, and that's really it. Now, in the original the entire room was coated in blood, it was like wallpaper, with bits and pieces of Doc strewn about as decoration. Still, the killer might be back here somewhere, so best put Alana up in a nearby room while Sadie waits outside with an ax. What a great idea. Sadie hears something down the hall and goes to check it out, but it turns out the killer was actually on the other end of the hall, waiting for her to leave. Our killer, once again dressed as a clown, uses an identical ax to Sadie's (down to the little streaks on the blade) on the bed Alana's supposed to be in, but was tricked by the classic dummy routine.

Alana decks the killer and runs, starting a short chase that ends with Alana and the killer in a storage area in (I believe) the caboose. Alana locks herself in a little cage back there, and the killer grabs a long pole with a hook-like thing on the end to reach her with. He uses it to smash out the overhead lights before trying to skewer Alana through the bars of her pen. Now, this is all from the original film, but it doesn't quite work here. In the original he smashed out the lights to make the room darker, slowly getting closer to Alana with each light. Here, the room is much smaller than it was in the first, and even after the overhead lights are smashed there are still bright lights all around that the killer doesn't smash, making his earlier actions pointless. Why smash the overheads if you're not going to smash the others? Also, why smash them at all? She's not going to get scared as you get closer while breaking them, you're already right in front of her. This whole thing makes no sense, and it's really only there to further emulate the original.

Alana eventually escapes, but runs into, of all people, Kenny. Kenny goes on a creepy little talk about how he missed her and the others, how he still wants his kiss, yadda, yadda, yadda. Alana kisses him, then bites off his tongue, thinking Kenny was the killer. Then the freaking magician comes up out of nowhere and shoots Kenny. Where the hell did he come from? Where has he been? Why did he bring a gun onto a train full of students? What even is this movie anymore? The sound cuts away, and the music swells as Alana, Sadie, and the magician walk away as if the movie was over. Even if the movie had ended there, it didn't earn that music swell.

Moving on, Alana is on her own in a compartment, looking at pictures of her friends, when she sees something. It turns out Kenny couldn't have been the killer, because he was at the party dressed as a bunny the whole time! Le gasp! Alana grabs an ax, ready to kill the magician who she is absolutely, 100% sure is the real killer. However, when she and Sadie get to the dressing room, they find the magician's (apparently) dead body, stabbed with a bunch of swords.

With no leads left, Sadie and Alana head back to the caboose to confer with Carne. Carne tells Sadie to go back and grab the magician's gun, while she stays behind and protects Alana. It's then revealed that Carne was the killer the whole time! Again, le gasp. Carne was Kenny's mother, a twist that everyone and their mother saw coming. Carne attacks Alana, stabbing her multiple times before dragging her to the door of the caboose. She plans to throw Alana off the train, finally finishing her revenge for Kenny. Sadie comes back and tries to shoot the lock on the other door, but Carne had already emptied the gun beforehand. Alana then gets the upper hand by taking the knife out of her chest and stabbing Carne before shoving her off the train.

Later, we see Alana in an ambulance, safe after a night full of terror and peril. Also, somehow, the magician is apparently alive? I don't know, I saw paramedics wheeling off someone who looked like him, and he seemed to be alive there. Truly, his greatest trick yet. We then move back down the train tracks to where Carne had been shoved off, because yadda, yadda, yadda, one last scare. Sorry movie, I don't think a sequel is coming. Besides, what would be the point? But that's the question that defines this movie: What was even the point?

Still, the film was stupid enough to be enjoyable which is why it's getting a 4. Still, I can't but feel we just got fed more of the same crock Gus Van Sant sold with with his Psycho remake.

Unimaginative
leem-saintfield27 October 2022
Dull supposed horror movie. I didn't realise this was a remake until afterwards so it fits that it is bad as with 99% of remakes.

The acting is nothing special although I've saw much worse. The characters are obnoxious and unlikeable so you're rooting for the killer. Who can't despatch them quick enough.

The political correctness is of course peppered throughout the film. They must not be able to get financed unless this crap is included despite the fact that this is a proven turnoff for moviegoers.

I'll have to watch the original and compare for myself and I do hope that it's better than this rubbish.

Tedious, forgettable, pointless remake
Groverdox4 January 2023
The original "Terror Train" is actually a pretty forgettable slasher if you ask me. It seems to be well remembered though, and I wonder if that's because it stars the undisputed scream queen, Jamie Lee Curtis.

I'm surprised it took so long for them to remake it, therefore. Everything gets a remake and a reboot and a "requel" in this day and age. The phrase that there is nothing new under the sun has never been more apparently true than it is in the world of film in the new millennium.

There are worse remakes out there than this "Terror Train". The late Tobe Hooper's take on "Toolbox Murders", no great shakes itself, was painfully bad. However it is hard to think of a movie more forgettable than this. The only part of the movie I liked was one amusing character, who I thought might be like the Jamie Kennedy character in "Scream", but then the idiot filmmakers killed him off.

Other than that I just wasn't able to pay attention to "Terror Train". It never interested me at all.

New Terror Train is Terrible
pow-2322522 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Tubi's remake of Terror Train is yet another in a long line of bland, pointless and forgettable horror remakes that are nothing more than lazy, uninspired recycled knock-offs that unlike John Carpenter's The Thing, don't enhance the original vision or material in any way.

Tubi's Terror Train has no unique style, no different point of view to call its own. Except for the ending, it is as dull as watching Arnie Cunningham do body work on Christine.

Around these parts, the obscure Terror Train had a cult following. Partly because the film was made here in Canada, partly because it starred up and coming scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis and partly because a local television station used to air it every New Year's Eve. The original film was directed by Roger Spottiswoode who would go on to helm such movies as Turner & Hooch, Air America and the 007 film Tomorrow Never Dies. Because of that, his film had a level of finesse. This remake has none of that mostly because the production so cheap and so too is the talent on display. It shows in the final product which pales in comparison to the original.

The story remains pretty much the same except the remake takes place on Halloween not New Year's Eve. Years after a prank goes wrong, as they often do in eighties horror movies, a group of college students party on a moving train while a vengeful, costume-swapping serial killer bumps them off one by one. What the makers of this film decided to do was rewrite all of the dialogue so it is much, much worse especially when delivered by a cast that overall don't have much of a resume and the work they have done is mostly in Canadian television. The only standout is comedy icon Mary Walsh as the conductor Carne best known for her work on This Hour Has 22 Minutes.

And because it is 2022 the producers feel the need to swap the identities of many of the characters (such as Carne who was originally played by Ben Johnson) for no logical or practical reason. That misguided, bewildering mindset probably led to the identity of the killer being changed too. Fans of the original film will immediately notice something is awry as the character is missing from the remake. Yup, they have been totally and utterly scrubbed from the plot again, for no logical or practical reason. The new explanation and reveal is not only not as clever, it is hokey, overworked in the genre and if you really think about it, makes no sense at all when the person has to be switching in and out of costume and roaming the train the entire time. The new ending is just stupid and I would expect a lot more from some of the minds who brought us the stellar Slasher series, if you ignore the awful third season.

The first Terror Train's kills were not all that bloody with Spottiswoode focusing more on creating tension and suspense in such a confined, claustrophobic space rather than gore. This remake is much bloodier and some of those effects are quite good despite the obviously low budget.

If one isn't going to add your voice to the mix, expand a story in a good way, add more style and substance, then what is really the point of remaking anything? The few remake stand-outs like Carpenter's The Thing, Cronenberg's The Fly, Romero and Savini's Night of the Living Dead, accomplish all of that and more. They respect and are faithful to the source material while putting a different spin on things. Tubi's Terror Train has no reason to exist other than to feed the streaming service content beast and as a penny-pinching cash grab that like the other dreadful remakes damages, undermines the brand and pollutes the pool.

Far better slasher remake than expected but suffers from some flaws
kannibalcorpsegrinder17 August 2023
Taking a special train trip together, a class of graduating college students on a special New Year's Eve trip find the experience ruined by a masked killer onboard killing them off in retaliation for a prank gone wrong years ago and must find a way to solve their identity and stop him to get off alive.

This was a generally solid if somewhat useless remake. When this one works is the recreation of the setup which gives this one quite an effective starting point for the events to continue. Offering up the fire prank at the hazing initiation that's close enough to the original but has a slight edge that manages to give it enough of its own touch to be a worthwhile motivation that gets revealed later on. That continues with the interactions on the train which features the same general setup including the groups' sexual hookups behind each others' backs, the main party including the exploits of the sleazy magician interacting with the group, and the series of interactions with the dwindling group discovering the killing going on that makes the story fun. That leaves the film with a highly effective and more enjoyable series of stalking and slashing scenes. The first few scenes with the masked figure sneaking around the train picking off stragglers in sequences that are linked to the concept of no one realizing it's an actual attack undertaking the mindset of a prank. Later scenes here, such as the bathroom encounter, an ambush on an unsuspecting coed expecting a sexual tryst, and a series of chases around the back of the train, have a lot to like with the costume-switching going on keeping the group in the dark on who to trust. The finale, featuring some fantastic confrontations between the survivor and the killer, gets quite a lot to like involving some suspenseful moments and decent gore effects which make this one better than expected. There are some big issues to be had with this one. The main issue with this one is the seemingly obvious one with the unnecessary and questionable need for this one to be a near shot-for-shot remake of the original. Featuring the same general prank, the same general setup, and the same general party on the train being crashed as a form of revenge which causes the film to recreate so many scenes verbatim that so much of the suspense and surprise gets taken away. As well, the inclusion of some rather obvious work done to make the killer obvious renders a lot of the twist ending here underwhelming as a result of pretty much telegraphing everything way too easily. Beyond these factors, though, this one wasn't as bad as it could've been considering its origins.

Rated Unrated/R: Graphic Violence, Graphic Language, and Brief Nudity.

Never Remake A Classic
deanedwardcullen25 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Considering I'd say the original is a classic, I was looking forward to the remake to see if they could make it even better.

Sadly the answer is a big NO!

The characters, well none likeable and when you hope the films final girl gets killed! You know something is wrong.

The twist in the original was a proper out of nowhere!

This one, not so much!

Main thing at least the original made it seem like they was actually on a train! The cgi train in this all but takes you out of the experience!

The kills were lacking and unimaginative. Could of had so much fun with the unique setting for the film!

The reviews are too harsh on this picture and in all honesty, this is about as good as the original film

Terror Train (2022) is a Tubi Original that I recently watched on...Tubi. The storyline follows a fraternity and sorority on a train ride filled with partying, dancing, drinking, smoking, a magician...and a killer. As the killing begins the bodies are well hidden, until they're not. The group that finds the first body tries to sound the alarm 🚨 but no one believes them and the killing continues until enough bodies pile up where it's impossible to not pay attention. Who is killing everyone and why?

This movie is directed by Philippe Gagnon (Sometimes the Good Kill) and stars Robyn Alomar (Riot Girls), Tim Rozon (Flashpoint), Matias Garrido (1 Up), Nadine Bhabha (Letter Kenny), Corteon Moore (Slasher) and Mary Walsh (Happy Place).

I'm going to start with the reviews are too harsh on this picture and in all honesty, this is about as good as the original film (which I only scored a 6-6.5). The costumes and magic tricks in this are pretty cool. Loved both the lizard and clown costumes. The kills scenes are pretty average but the blood splatter is solid. I enjoyed the opening clown kill before the train leaves. The acting is on par with the original and just okay. The circumstances are fun and the movie unfolds well. The dialogue is very average and the magician is extra cheesy, but so was Copperfield in the original.

Overall, as I previously referenced I would score this about the same as the original and give it a 6/10. It's an above average addition to the genre that's worth watching once but I wouldnt go too far out of my way to see it.

Mostly the same as Terror Train the oraingal

Ok so Terror Train ( 2022 ) The remake available to watch on Tubi ! & Made by Tubi it self . This remake is very much like the original Terror Train released in 1980 . Starting JLC . This remake has Descent enough performance's but likeable charter to be honest . Direction is of ok standards & production but your not going to remember this one ! Ending is different this time around. Unfortunately our lead lady is not likeable this time around meaning the role , they try to make simphetic but that doesn't really come off carwise like we did with Jamie Lee Curtis in Terror Train back in 1980. One it a view l think onces it enough.

Stop pushing an agenda
easttexascuck20 January 2023
Can we stop remaking movies and just changing the actors and pushing an agenda. I understand everything has to be diverse but give me a break. If you found this movie enjoyable then I have some ocean front property in Arizona to sell you. The main actors are terrible and it's more like it's a hallmark movie with blood and gore. The main actress is to miss goody, emotional and sounds like a smoker. We need to stop remaking movies and come up with something maybe that will keep our interest. The only thing that will keep you awake is the actresses voice because it's so annoying. I would rather watch reruns.

Unnecessary
kamikaze-422 October 2022
An unnecessary remake of the Jamie Lee Curtis slasher, Terror Train. The original is by no way a cult classic as fans of slasher films gush, but why remake the original when there are many more original ideas still out there?

The remake, just like the original, has the novelty of a guessing game about who the killer is. Surprisingly, I guessed right. Come on, folks. You couldn't guess the killer's identity and why?

For what it's worth, this movie did keep my attention, and I didn't mind the multi-racial cast. Would I recommend this film? Only if you haven't seen the original. Final thought. Most likely this movie will be forgotten in a few years.

Watch the 1980 version instead.

It should be law that if you can't improve upon a film, then you aren't allowed to remake it.

The 1980 classic is just that, a classic. It has atmosphere, suspense, cool masks, David Copperfield is so creepy you think HE'S the killer and a twist you never see coming.

Then there's this movie. They've tried to copy the opening scene and it doesn't feel believable. The OG had the nerdiest looking guy alive so you could believe he needed a hand finding a girl, remake nerd definitely doesn't fit the mould. The movie includes fun phrases like "cancelled", "you do not have my consent to touch me" and there's lots of people holding their smartphones to film literally every thing that happens no matter how lame. If you just want to see a lot of fake blood then I guess you'll like this version. They've tried to change the plot with the constant 'who dunnit' but it just starts to feel ridiculous.

The one thing that's creepier in this version is the 40-something magician hitting on the college student. Gross dude.
