So Boring !!!
paniloope20 June 2023
Wow, it was a monotonous and boring series with long talking scenes without any excitement I am completely familiar with the friendship and communication cultures and traditions in Korea, but it isn't a bit exaggerated that two best friends who happen to be colleagues at work still call each other Sonbae instead of their first names even in the most intimate situations??

About actings, almost all of them were good, except for the first female lead, whose face did not change a bit in conveying anger, jealousy, doubt, or any other emotions!!!

If you are looking for a breathtaking interesting drama, forget this one.

Probably one of the most realistic K-Drama's I've watched (i'm not married, so this is realistic for me).

Warning: Spoilers
This show's good to watch, although you might be bored by the first few episodes.

Actors are fine, not bad but not great. Jun-Hyeong can improve his comedic skills though. His side-kick was effortlessly funny. To be honest, i didn't mind how Na-Eun and Jun-Hyeong didn't match. The whole point was how wedding preparations are hell, the drama wasn't supposed to show how they started off as couples (ykwim). However, I was disturbed by(maybe) the unofficial second loveteam(?) Minwoo and Hui-Seon.

Dont expect much from the characters attitudes(except for Minwoo) because Jun-Hyeong is SUCHHHHH a green flag and Na-Eun is your typical girlfriend(nothing special about her really..). Minwoo is the most crazy characters of them all, I find him weird so I can't see how Hui Seon, an independent girlboss falling for him. I thought she learned from her ex tbh. And for Soo-yeon, I wish she was given more scenes.

Admit it or not, the parents literally brought this whole show. Without them there would be no almost breakup scenario. Literally from the beginning, it was like a competition between Wealthy vs Mid. This show would not end if they didn't reconcile.

It was predictable that this drama wouldn't finish a whole 16 since it would be impossible to add more unrealistic problems. I don't expect a season 2, being newlyweds are a whole different story.

As I said in the title, it's realistic. We cant deny that it showed the hell of pre-marriages. It actually made me realize I do not want to commit (i'm young so idk yet hshaha). Sadly, It didn't give me "spark" that I expected. There's something missing that I wouldn't bother watching this again.

Extra: i wish they didn't show Na-Euns wedding dress,,, it would be great to keep it a surprise.

Budget Wedding
Park_Min12 March 2024
The drama had a decent introduction and seemed promising with its theme. The first 3-4 episodes gave the impression that the drama was going to be an episodic formula about a variety of different scenarios and struggles couples could run through around their wedding, however, although they had a couple of these scenarios early on but everything after that boiled down to the typical financial issues which the drama repeated and reskinned 5-6 times until the end. The drama had a good set up to easily come up with a handful of other ideas themed around preparing weddings. On the other hand, the drama had a good cast for a short drama which made the whole thing more tolerable.

Not Good Enough
PennyReviews19 October 2022
Korean Drama " Welcome to Wedding Hell " is a short drama about a couple preparing for their wedding day.

And even though the drama has its moments, the overall result is boring and pretty much pointless. The whole dramatic twists that kept happening were cheesy and tiring. The romance was also just okay, and, as it is established already, it has few surprises to offer.

On the other hand, the performances were all great, by the main couple, but, especially, by the side characters, like the mothers-in-law that were delightful.

As for the cinematography, the drama kept things light and in a fun mood.

So, overall, 3 out of 10.

It's too generic.
zinemamoviemedia1 June 2022
Tell about a couple that will be married and all about their preparation for it. But nothing special, nothing element that I didn't find in other series that bring similar issue. There is no complicated conflict and there is no funny thing so I decide to end to watch it in episode 5.

Realistically boring and bland
mikkiparker16 June 2022
At first, I was a bit reluctant when Lee Jin Wook was cast as a male lead in a rom-com drama considering his previous roles consisted of more action, angsty, supernatural, and overall non-romantic characters (Bulgasal, Sweet Home, Voice, etc.). I was afraid the lack of experience in rom-coms would affect his performance in 'Welcome to Wedding Hell'. On the contrary, this exact reason (lack of romantic projects) was what intrigued me about WTWH.

Lee Jin Wook does a good job as Seo Joon Hyung. His romantic side feels okay but occasionally too forced. His chemistry with Lee Yun Hee sometimes comes off as bland. The whole show felt a little distant and I was having a hard time getting to like the characters (especially Na Eun and her "I'm always right and will never apologize for my actions" behavior).

To be completely honest, Jin Wook and Yun Hee's chemistry just wasn't there. Sometimes they felt like really good friends but during the whole drama, I just did not get the feeling they are going to be newlyweds. Especially considering they were long-term partners but Na Eun's knowledge of Jun Hyung's obliviousness to almost everything she does felt off...like she almost didn't know him at all.

In the end, I found this drama boring, the characters annoying, and the acting pretty average (which is a pity especially for Jin Wook as I know he's an exceptional actor). I do admit that in the end, thinking about the pacing of the drama and all, it did come off very realistically and real-life-like. HOWEVER, overall the show just wasn't that good, especially for a Netflix show. Wouldn't recommend.

NOT DYNAMIC ENOUGH
silverontheroof29 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Warning: Possible spoilers ahead

Sometimes it's a struggle not to nitpick. The storyline was ok, somewhat bland and predictable, and with much to be as expected. My nitpic ks? Firstly, ML proposes to her with a huge rock on white gold, but throughout the series, she is wearing her yellow gold wedding band (possibly from her real-life husband, m. 2020?) Secondly, they never kiss (again, due to her real marriage status?) THAT is one of my peeves with married actors and actresses playing romantic leads. It's a hell-hole in Hollywood with marriages, divorces, unfaithfulness, etc. Yes, yes, one can say that "they're just acting..." Like turning a light on and off in a room? Even a well-known actress in Korea (see Familiar Wife) said that for every role she has, she has to develop a crush for her lead man. Maybe she can afford to do that as she's not married. But what about the rest? In all that I've written here, I sense that the these were not attended to as they should have been by the writers, producers, and director.

My heroes in this series? The fathers. Good title for this one. I've told prospective wedding partners this: Plan to spend a hundred times more on your marriage than you do on your wedding. The wedding is the party.... The marriage is the investment. What's it worth for them?

Lessons for those contemplating marriage
phd_travel2 June 2022
Couples getting married need to watch this. Everyone can learn from the practical issues and real life problems like how much to spend on gifts buying a home and the ceremony and in law personalities. Feelings get hurt during the preparations and it's quite a minefield to navigate. Two likeable stars everyone knows helps make it a relatable watchable show.

If you enjoy this there is an older show from 2012 Can We Get Married? That deals with similar preparations and problems which is very entertaining and longer.

This topic is always interesting so it's worth a watch. Lots to learn as you see different points of view. Although I like both leads I am more sympathetic to the groom to be's character. She seems fussy sulky and not understanding.

I like that series ❤❤❤
shireentarek15 October 2022
I like that series . I like the way it exposed the problems that occur in this period. And that we have to give up some things and be calm because this period when the tension becomes very high. I think that she was a bit selfish and she wanted to be in control of all things. Regardless of the sensitivity of feelingsfor others. Marriage is considered a partnership between the two families and not a partnership between the two person. I know that we like to build our lives by ourselves and to choose for ourselves what we want. But must be taken care the feeling to parents .And talk to them frankly, bearing in mind that no one upsets the other.❤❤❤

Good Enough
Isle197020 January 2024
It wasn't as good as I'd have liked, and I'm glad it was only 12 episodes, but it was good enough for a one-watch time.

ML is phenomenal in everything else, but given they are not romcoms, I was curious if he could pull a role like this off. I came away believing that he's better suited to his usual action /sci-fi/ crime genres. He wasn't terrible, he's just not comfortable and I could tell. I hope he gets more mainstream dramas with some romance interspersed, until he becomes more comfortable with comedy. Still adore him.

FL I don't have much to say about. Her character annoyed me as always feeling she was right about everything. I don't fault the actress. She is someone I'm unfamiliar with as an actress, and I'm afraid I found her to be forgettable.

Sadly, they didn't have much "in-love" chemistry to me either, but to be fair, the series begins at the problem starting phase. The dialogue wasn't stellar at times, but I've definitely endured worse. Those moments were thankfully brief and few.

The real stars of the show are the parents. The moms especially are favorites from other Kdramas and they are the foundation of the series. You need to watch at least for them, and the sidekick friends with their better handle of comedy and honestly well written words of wisdom about marriage and relationships. Special mention to the ML's two colleagues' anti-marriage "advice" which was hilariously delivered.
