Great Ryan-centric episode
LoveIsAStateOfMind29 December 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Although I can hardly remember anything about the serial killer story arc apart from the fact he is creepy Hardy-from-The-Mentalist is now Ted on Pan Am, I really enjoyed this episode. In fact I think that if the show was more about Ryan and Esposito than Castle and Beckett I would actually enjoy it a lot more.

I still don't quite get the obsessive relationship between Ryan and his gun. I appreciate all the explanations he gave for why he felt so responsible but I still couldn't quite get to the level of understanding it. It just gets weirder if you see the gun as some sort of phallic symbolisation but we won't go there ….

The ending was great though. I really did think that Ben Lee was dead and I kept thinking we would get some major Ryan angst fallout so it was a nice surprise to see that it had been part of the plan. Nicely played show because usually I've watched too many crime dramas to fall for things like that.

These are the episodes that I keep watching the show for. Solid case-writing + Ryan <3.

Order of magnitude
kols10 October 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Enjoyed Castle from the beginning, mainly for the interactions between the characters. Tonight's episode, Kick the Ballistics, raised that by at least one order of magnitude.

At first viewing, it was flawless, flowing from point to point with seamless logic, each point expanding its scope until reaching the point that brother was willing to kill brother in defense of the clan, the Patriarchy, echoing not only the fundament of Chinese culture but of any clan-based, tribal culture that places the Patriarchy above the welfare of any member of the clan itself, except, of course, the specific Patriarch himself.

Don't know if this is a spoiler but not taking any chances and, while the ideological point might sound like I'm imposing my personal bias on the show, I'm not. That point develops from the finding of the body to scene of final confrontation organically, revealing a script that is masterful, tight and manages to retain those character interactions, actually raising them, like the plot, to a new level.

In other words: WOW!

Seamus Dever Is Golden, Very Good of the Writers to Write a StoryLine For Him!

Warning: Spoilers
Actor Seamus Dever as Detective Kevin Ryan pwrformed immaculately in this episode of "Kick The Ballistics". From the way that he just looks so beautiful, rugged, and tough, yet soft and sensitive caring about his lost service weapon at the same time. The scene where he sorta barked at Castle was awesome acting on his part, as well. And when he went at the Lees and the ex boyfriend was pure perfection!

ridiculous

Warning: Spoilers
This is the dumbest act 3 in a procedural police show. Kept the tension going with weak side cop characters but the final scene .. geez. Going against your family because a cop said 3 sentences...lol.
