Lottery fever hits the Griffins

Warning: Spoilers
A massive lottery prize prompts Peter to remortgage the house and by thousands of tickets. Against all odds he scoops the top prize, but the winnings change the entire family, particularly Peter, who becomes a monster.

It's a good start to the series, with plenty of gags. I'm sure we've all imagined how life would change if we suddenly won a fortune, Peter shows how you could easily lose sight of your roots. Best gags include the money pit and the True Blood sketch.

I wouldn't say it's a classic, but it's fun. 7/10

The One Where Peter Wins The Lottery...

Warning: Spoilers
I love this episode. It's so funny. It is really enjoyable and one of my all-time episodes.

In this episode, Peter decides to try and win the lottery. He takes out a second mortgage on the house and buys two hundred thousand lottery tickets. After looking through them all night, the family are tired, and disappointed that they didn't win. But then Peter brings out the real lottery tickets. Peter needed to be sure that they were to be trusted. When Brian picks up the first real lottery ticket, it has the winning numbers. The family then get very wealthy and their personalities completely change. They blow off their friends and eventually go broke. Then they tried to win the lottery again. They won again and ended up in the exact same place. Broke.

Overall, I give this episode a 10 out of 10.

*** SPOILERS THROUGHOUT****

You know when Family Guy used to be offensive but it wasn't in your face as much? Remember when the racism, weirdness and homophobia used to just be in random cutaways we could forgive for not being part of the story line?

Yeah I miss it too.

The recent episodes of Family Guy just seem to be a contest between the writers of: 1. Who can be the most blatantly offensive or sexist to women and to anyone who isn't white or an atheist. 2. The most gross, by any means necessary. 3. Who can get the most gory image on screen.

Safe to say the end of this episode lived up to all three of those and it was possibly the most sickening thing I have ever seen on TV ever.

Quagmire makes a joke about Viagra pills working well and it then cuts to a scene of a woman he slept with last night, split up the middle with guts hanging out and blood in graphic detail as Peter, one of the main characters, makes a candid remark ' Oh brave gal she made it into work today.' like its a normal thing?

Everything in Family Guy is far from normal these days, in past episodes they have made Brian eat Stewie's crap, shown an 'evil' stewie slice a woman in half, and just basically been so out there it's ruining the fun moments this show can provide.

To be an adult cartoon and edgy does not mean you have to include over the top really distasteful and shocking content, you can be adult in far more creative ways or dropping a few F bombs now and again.

It's a shame, I used to like this show Seasons 1-8 are the best we are going to see from this franchise, it's all downhill from here.

Every episode, ( even a Christmas one) has to include violence now, and we the viewer can only take so much before we think enough is enough, and the 'joke' at the end of this episode clinched it.

Save your time and money and buy American Dad instead. At least they still have some kind of standards, as does The Cleveland Show.

Great episode and one of my favorites

Warning: Spoilers
This is one of my favorite episodes in family guy. The jokes hit and my favorite joke was winning the lottery twice. Peter is a jerk in this episode but he does learn his lesson at the end like all episodes. Also why does Lois complain about Peter quitting his job when they won 150 million dollars? The Scrooge mcduck joke was hilarious. Joe and quagmire laughing to peters stupid joke was also funny. The bar scene with the waiter singing I didn't know if it was a reference to something. All the useless stuff they bought, made sense. One finale thought is what type of name is carstairs. But it was great way to start off season 10.
