I doubt that you will have ever heard of any of the cast members of this Christian film called Footprints. It has one unassailable thing going for it. Who can resist a good boy/man and his dog story?

The film is the story of how a man who had one crappy childhood, but manages to survive it and is helped a lot with him bonding with an abused and abandoned German Shepherd. This dog Kelly may not be as brave as Rin Tin Tin, but he's more lovable. And he gives the best performance in Footprints, better than the human thespians.

Pets can really be valuable to people. I'm a cat lover myself and always know that I have one friend in the world who will never betray me. A good film could be and probably has been made of the subject without the religious trappings.

As for Footprints, the direction is bad and the acting even worse. But if you loved Rin Tin Tin, this could be your movie Christian or not.

Heart-Warming Story of Loyalty and Love!
kellylynnward21 June 2014
"Footprints" is a beautifully told story which illustrates God's ability to minister to His children using the most unlikely of tools. The story is a precious reminder that God really is in control, and with Him, nothing is ever wasted. He can take the most difficult of circumstances-- the most tragic of pasts--and show His glory in the deliverance from those areas of bondage.

Although the story is, by industry standards, lower in budget and devoid of fantastical special effects which are so popular in today's culture, "Footprints" is nonetheless a movie worth seeing! I highly recommend this movie to my fellow movie-goers!!

Beautiful true story

I found this movie on a movie app called Tubi. Sure they were obviously working with a low budget, but I haven't had a film impact me like this one did for a while. Amazing true story of the friendship between a man and an abused and abandoned dog. The dog and owner come from similar backgrounds and the movie explores the healing which comes through the bond they have, as well as effects on the lives of countless others as well Such an inspiring story

Beautiful movie!
peggysue42226 February 2021
This movie is ahead of its time and so apropos for 2021. Why are people so threatened by the good that Christian people do? Does it shine a light on their darkness? Are they so insecure about themselves that they have to make sure others don't succeed? Are they jealous of other people's success? That was the opinion of the school superintendent who didn't appreciate how much this dog helped school kids, and who was also negatively influenced by the pastor of a church. Very sad. This is based on a true story and this dog did amazing things to help so many downtrodden people. But these same people and animals who have been discarded and forgotten, if open to the power of love, can, in turn, be used of God, to promote His simple law of love. Even hard hearted pastors can get on board with that! And I think we need anything that promotes more love in 2021! 🙏💪💜

Watched for a simple reason
jlynndavis-1343225 September 2022
The simple reason I watched is my dog is named Smokey. Smokey came to me as an abandoned dog at a time when I grieved the loss of my previous dog & best friend Soul. Smokey was abandoned by his family whom I never met. After a few hiccups we slowly became a family/pack along with Blue the cat. (another story) After watching this movie I came away with simple lessons. No matter what happens in life, lean on your faith in God to walk you through your own footprints. Smokey walks joyously in his paw prints as well. We healed each other's broken heart. No matter what the scholars & acedemia may say, dogs do have eternal souls. DOG=GOD. Mirrored in each other.
