"Dar shahr khabari nist" is a noble comedy that introduces a very rare style of comedy to Iran's cinema. It is influenced by Coens' "The big Lebowski". This type of comedy is uncommon.

The success of "Dar shahr khabari nist" in delivering the comedy is matchless and you can't blink the eye without missing some sort of humor in the characters or situations. Even the music is awfully funny and in line with the story.

Javad is a taxi driver who gives a wealthy woman (Maryam) a ride one night only to be beaten and having his already out of order car wrecked by two gorillas who suspect that he might know the whereabouts of Maryam's fiancé, a man who is missing and wants to marry Maryam despite the deaths of her three ex-husbands! When telling the story to his friend Asghar they decide to set out and seek compensation from Maryam's father
