Had me laughing

Warning: Spoilers
I loved the part when Klaus was trying to persuade Stephan and Damon to give Elena to him, by throwing a fit or rather by literally throwing things through her house! So funny! I also loved the music and the scene as Alaric, burning in the sun, headed back to the school dragging Caroline!

the enhanced Alaric storyline makes the last arc of season 3 the best it could be

I love they made Alaric the big bad after this season not really offering anything else other than ripper Stefan but it only lasted to episode 9, but I loved the episode

penultimate episode of the third season Warning: Spoilers
No, the doom prophets of back in the day were wrong, all wrong. The show lasted for five more seasons. Which isn't necessarily a good thing. I wouldn't agree with our Brazilian friend here, he is obviously very hard to satisfy, and is clearly watching the wrong kind of show not suited to his taste.

But the big problem is that I find that the fun of it all is long since gone. Hey, how many times have these mains and regulars "died"...? Isn't there a staking or a neck snapping or whatever in every episode? Since they are meaningless, what's the point? In this episode, we hear Caroline's neck being broken, but are we shocked? The gag bit was good and played to sympathy, but those pencils used to penetrate her... just bad taste. They'd not have kept a vampire down.

But this turning of Alaric into a vampire, this is not popular with me. It is just felt that the show pulls out all the stops to deliver action and gore in a much more heavy-handed way than the grand old days of Season One. Like I said, the fun is gone, and it doesn't hold good for the prospects of eight, yes, eight seasons. It would really have been better if Season Three was the last, and the show tailored itself to come to a conclusion.

The best thing about Season Three? Claire Holt as Rebekah. This Klaus, he is totally overrated, and though I have already nibbled on the ORIGINALS line, I do not think it's gonna be my kinda thing at all.

Everything said and done though, I do not agree with the two other reviewers. I wouldn't be involved with this series if it was as useless as they've made it out to be. And let's face it, for the wonder of Season One to have continued, tall order, I suspected it would not.

In short, watch and enjoy, it is still one of the best ever TV series, it's just... it came down from up there in the clouds...

A special word of appreciation to Candice Accola for the hardship she had to endure filming the 'vervain gag' scene...

So Easy to Vanquish Klaus
claudio_carvalho30 December 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Rebekah warns Klaus that her mother turned Alaric into a powerful vampire slayer and she is leaving Mystic Falls on that moment but he prefers to bring Elena with him to get her blood for his army of hybrids. Alaric is vulnerable to the sun and he kidnaps Caroline and calls Elena, who is at home with Jeremy, Stefan and Damon, telling her to come to the high-school; otherwise he will kill her friend. Elena does not tell anybody and sneaks from the house to help Caroline. When Klaus arrives at Elena's door, Stefan and Damon team-up with Klaus to vanquish Alaric and Bonnie proposes to create a spell to stop the heart of Alaric. However she needs to stop a human heart too and Jeremy offers to help his sister. Will the spell work?

"Before Sunset" is another annoying episode of this washed-up series. No fan could imagine how easy would be to vanquish Klaus, the irritating vampire of the Third Season. Once again the unbearable Elena decides by herself what to do and then asks for help for Stefan and Damon. My vote is five.

The symptoms of a dying show
zakariyyahzakiyyah6 May 2012
Warning: Spoilers
During this episode all the good guys suddenly got rich and were able to afford changing their phone plans with at&t and they all got new Samsung android phone, while before all the vampires used iphones. And suddenly the vampire brothers had a growth spurt, and now they are taller than the original vampires and Jeremy. During this episode the good teacher becomes a murderer, giving a great message to the school students. And during the entire episode, the plot of the story undergoes No change, just a dead episode, with a poor script and an empty story. There were very few Latin words during this episode, and a lot of hand piercing with pencils. The only real acting in this episode was during the few seconds when Bonnie was trying to reanimate Jeremy. Lots of signs and symptoms of a show that will be ending soon, or of a plot that will become void.

Goodbye Klaus
vivianla11 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Caroline is kidnapped by Alaric while walking around cleaning up after the dance in school. Rebekah runs off to tell Klaus that Alaric is alive.

Elena gets a phone call from Alaric telling her to come in person or he will kill Caroline. She goes off without telling anyone. Bonnie, the Salvatores, Jeremy all look for her in the house.

Klaus comes by asking to take Elena. The Salvatores refuse and shut the door on him. Klaus throws a newspaper at a window. He then throws objects and pieces of wood. Next he has propane gas and fire to throw in but Stefan stops him saying Alaric has both Caroline and Elena.

Bonnie learns of a spell from Abby. The Salvatores and Klaus drink her blood to be bonded together. They have to make contact with Alaric and then Bonnie has to stop Jeremy's heart to stop Alaric's.

Elena figures out that Alaric doesn't want to kill her because their lives are bonded. Klaus kidnaps Elena and takes her to his home where he drains her of blood. The Salvatores come and they use the spell to stop Klaus's heart. He is not completely dead but at least they finally stopped him.

The brothers walk Elena to her doorstep and she apologizes for stringing them along. She doesn't want to lose one after accepting one of them.

The brother celebrate in the car that Klaus has been stopped while Elena and her friends celebrate in their kitchen.
