back to yesteryear

We go back in time, well, really just loads of back-flashes really. I much prefer the vampire in high school storyline, but okay... One thing I gotta tell you, the other reviewer here, our friend from Brazil, he is saying that nothing happens in this episode, it just stalls the fans. If nothing happens here, from his perspective, then I would hate to see a rough day... Okay, the moment I saw that old Model T Ford or whatever, heart sinks a bit, but no, only "little whiles" spend in the past. Missed Candice Accola though.

And my apologies for having neglected Claire Holt in previous review, she is truly great... you will notice that the blonde female vampires are especially striking... yeah, that's the word exactly. Striking. Shudder!

PIty about the quote IMDb is currently not accepting (I tried!), the halfway one about "half the woods were torn down" where the punchline is missing. Damon's cute nickname for Rebekah, no, not "bonnie Beks"...

One thing though, all this bloodless gore... people, just do not think a decapitated body is gonna be like that Blood is gonna spurt like a geyser.

Stalling the Fans
claudio_carvalho2 December 2013
Alaric is in jail accused by Dr. Fells of murder of the founders. Sheriff Forbes advises Damon to not interfere in her investigation. Damon recalls with Stefan the year of 1912, when a serial-killer killed founders in Mystic Falls. Meanwhile Elena and Matt break in the house of Dr. Fells to search for evidence to prove the innocence of Alaric. Damon and Rebekah forces Stefan to drink human blood and Matt and Elena witnesses Stefan biting the neck of a girl.

"1912" is an episode where nothing happens; therefore, there is nothing to write about this episode. My vote is six.

Doesn't make much sense

Warning: Spoilers
Dr Fell tries to persuade Alaric that he is the killer. At the same time he remembers that she shot him because he saw something he shouldn't?! Why he shouldn't see it, isn't even clear. Why he survives neither. Is she not a human?

At the mean time Damon and Stefan remember similar murders from 1912 but only at the end of the episode they seem to get in the right track. Everything before that goes nowhere.

Except that Damon remembers that when he pursuaded Stefan to drink blood, he became the ripper. Stefan is trying to get clean again but Damon really thinks it would help him if he'd do the same mistake again and force him to drink blood. I get he is trying to moderate it but didn't it work best when Stefan was completely clean?

Rebekah is trying to find remaining trees that could kill her and is asking the Salvatores about it. For some reason they don't seem to understand what her goal is.

Meredith Fell Frames Alaric
vivianla24 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Damon and Stefan tell Rebekah their father knocked up one of the maids to pass on the inheritance. Rebekah keeps asking them questions related to trees and they are careful in sharing.

Meredith Fell frames Alaric and gets him put in jail. She later comes to the house to explain she did it to protect him. She thinks the ring has caused some consequences. He cheats death and it may have changed him. He might've had black outs.
