K-Pops! follows a washed-up musician from Los Angeles who attempts to reinvigorate his career by joining a band for a K-Pop competition show in Seoul and discovers that his long-lost son has the chance to front one of the country’s hottest new groups. Saudi Arabia’s Film AlUla, the film entity looking to attract international productions to a sprawling area of desert and giant boulders, has forged a partnership with Hollywood indie Stampede Ventures, bringing 10 productions to the region over the next three years with a projected $350 million spend.
The groundbreaking agreement with Stampede marks the first deal of this scale between Hollywood and Saudi since the kingdom lifted its ban on cinema in late 2017. Stampede is headed by U.S. industry veteran Greg Silverman, former president of creative development and physical production at Warner Bros. Silverman launched Stampede Ventures in 2018.

Exclusive: Est N8, the international finance, production and sales company launched by Est Studios and Bangkok-based N8 Studios, has acquired world sales rights, excluding South Korea, to April Tragedy (The Daughters Of That Day), directed by Koh Hoon.
Produced by Junghoon Song, the film will receive its world premiere at Busan International Film Festival (October 4-13), where it is playing in competition in the Wide Angle section.
The documentary looks at the aftermath and healing journey following two important but often overlooked events in world history – the Jeju 4.3 Uprising and Rwandan genocide tragedies.
Koh Hoon previously directed feature films Eomung (2019) and Paper Flower (2020), with the latter film winning Best Foreign Language Film and Best Actor at the Houston Film Festival. He holds a doctoral degree in Theatre and Film Studies from Hanyang University and his short film, Maheun (2018), was invited to Cannes.

Est N8, a recently-established finance, production and film sales company, has appointed Chen ‘Tata’ Xinrui as its sales and distribution manager. Chen will serve under Tenten Wei, head of studios for Est N8 and will be based in Los Angeles.

Exclusive: Est Studios has entered into a partnership with New York and Bangkok-based N8 Studios to represent a slate of Asian films at global markets including the Marche du Film at Cannes.
The two companies will focus on international sales of Thai, Korean, Chinese and Indonesian titles. “The goal is to bring Asia to the World, forge new partnerships with filmmakers from the East and introduce new premium Asian film and television IP to global audiences,” the partners said in a statement.
The first title in the partnership is Thai hit thriller horror Home For Rent, co-produced by N8 Studios and Thailand’s Gdh. The film has been widely released theatrically in Asia by Gdh and will soon be rolled out across Latin America. Est N8 will represent the film in North America.
