Flimsy and Unoffensive Dribble
artpf28 September 2013
This is a very thin movie with a simple plot.

Guy getting married wants to ensure he will always be wedded so puts his fiancé through all kinds of dumb tests to be sure.

It's not a movie that is going to change your life, nor is it meant to be.

It's a silly light hearted romantic comedy. You'd almost expect Jennifer Aniston to be in the lead female role.

That said, the female lead looks a wee bit like her. The male lead looks like he's 50. Miscast for sure. And it probably would have been funnier if it was the woman who was putting the guy through tests.

So the point is, don't expect too much and you won't be disappointed. It's a harmless outing with a few giggles. Nothing more or less. Use it as background while you're doing something else.

Great original concept and even funnier film
samicebergjohnson1 September 2016
Watched this film last night. Didn't know what it was and had no clue what to expect, but was laughing out loud for the majority of the film.

The Test is a romantic comedy that shows the length some men will go to see if the one they love is the one for them. Nathan after finding out that his friend got divorced after only being married for a year, decides to test his fiancé to see to what length she will go for him. As the film progress the tests become more and more ridiculous with some really disturbing and yet super funny scenarios.

Writer, Director Jeremy Saville does a great job at creating and showing a very original story with lots of genuine laughs. The acting in the film is not Oscar material, but it not a serious drama or criminal movie. You can see that all of the actors had fun shooting the film, as they always have a huge grin on their faces.

IF you are bored and are wanting to see a funny comedy which doesn't mash up the same old jokes but offers something new. Then I recommend the Test.

A waste of your life on earth.

This is the absolute worst film I have ever seen, don't waste your time with it, the 6.6 rating on IMDb is a joke. A funnier one than any of them in the film. The acting, makeup, costume, lighting, script were all awful and inspired us all to get a career in the film industry as we could all have done better with no experience in it.

A funny movie which is worth to watch
habeeb-zeeshan29 March 2015
This past weekend, I saw the movie The Test. This award winning romance comedy is one to remember. The plot has Nathan and his finance Julia falling in love and heading for the altar. The only problem is that Nathan's best friend (and man) whispers a bit of doubt in Nathan's ear about the perils of love and marriage thereby encouraging him to "Test" the woman he loves to make sure she's all that she's cracked up to be when the proverbial you know what hits the fan.

He reluctantly begins the charade, but once he gets a taste of "the test" he spirals out of control trying to gain assurance that he's making the right choice and won't end up a "weekend dad". He rushes headlong into the heart of darkness as the tests start to tackle perpetually expanding unusual flavors reaching a state of perfection with him faking a coma.

Morrie Schorr as Nate's Dad is hilarious in a scene that's a real crowd pleaser. I won't give the details and spoil the movie, but it made me laugh so hard I was smiling for hours. And let's just say that there are several inspired scenes in the film that will leave you wanting more.

This movie Directed and written by Jeremy Saville and he is a genuinely talented auteur. He's proved he can produce top-quality product. We can't help but wonder what he could do if he broke away, even just a little, from the restraints of tropes and conventions. Whatever he does, we're sure it's gonna be great. Cinematographer Nate Tieman's work was also good. It won Fallbrook Film Festival Best Comedy Feature of 2013. Overall, it's a funny movie which is worth to watch.

this is tragic

Warning: Spoilers
I don't think this is at all funny or comedic in any way shape or form...its a typical control freak manipulating the woman he allegedly loves while degrading her in front of his friends for his ego boosting satisfaction...i can't believe any woman would seriously tolerate that kind of behavior from anyone yet alone the man she's pledged to marry...its even a bigger insult towards intelligent women that they finally make up and get married...the universal truth about any relationship is trust...when that goes you have zip

Please watch it with your partner
maryleekeating29 March 2015
We all are looking for real love but it is a question that how many of us make that question whether we were making the right choice or not when it comes to marriage. We supposed to spend the rest of our life with that beloved person which we love most and vice-e-vice. But we can't tell for sure that we got the "right" one as our life partner until we lived with them. This romantic comedy takes us through a series of "tests" any one of us would like to give our chosen one just to make sure their love was the real thing. Some people say, "Love is blind" which may not be true always. This movie will entertain you all the way around. And by watching this movie I am sure you will think about to test your love also. This movie will help you a lot in our relationships. Please watch it with your partner, so you both will learn to value what you have next to you.

Definitely in my top 10 worst movies
wendigocross-5298514 May 2019
Lazy plot, cringe inducing acting and writing, and silly premise. I saw it's rating and thought I'd give it a watch, but good lord I feel I'd rather have been working than watching this train-wreck. I imagine it's something someone could watch with friends to laugh AT the movie, but I think it's too bad even for that.

It shows universal truths about relationships
jamalmalone8630 March 2015
Well, I have seen this picture and honestly I can say it's a hilariously funny movie that I have ever seen. The plot concerns a man who puts his fiancé through a bunch of comedic stress tests to see if she is worthy to be his wife. I think this is a great premise for a romantic comedy. Its little bit lovely concept, you know! If you failed to choose perfect life partner, your life could be miserable. You won't be happy with your partner ever if you failed to choose the right one. While watching this movie I questioned myself "how could I find my right partner?" Is it really possible? It's a very tricky question I guess. The clever script touches upon universal truths about relationships and the fears involved in committing. Anyway plot and the scripts are really nice. I heard it was micro budget film. Jeremy Saville, as a director, writer as well as actor did great.

Outstandingly bad
Bumble7917 October 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Well, I'm not entirely sure how people could say that this was a laugh out loud comedy. I've never not laughed more in my life. In fact I can wholeheartedly say that I would have rather have spent the entire 89 minutes licking a brick wall.

The main character is a complete tool and the script and majority of the acting is flaky and wooden. Frankly you hope that the guy does get run over during the last scene.

Watch this movie if you're most enjoyable thing to do is to be bored senseless and obtain an excruciating headache from rolling your eyes so much.

Worth the price of admission
hobbes_mark18 March 2015
I recently saw The Test (I) (2012) and very much enjoyed it. It is a comedy that depicts what happens when a man puts his fiancé through some extreme tests to make sure if she's worth getting married to. Long story short, this guy ends up getting himself into a world of trouble that he never expected.

It is a romantic comedy movie where Jeremy Saville as "Nathan" gets engaged to Kelly Sullivan as "Julia". His friend Todd proposes that Nathan ought to thoroughly inspect the product BEFORE he purchases. Nathan rejects Todd's worries and goes home to his lovely life partner where he quickly discovers that friends of theirs, who have been hitched not as much as a year, are getting a divorce. Nathan abruptly panics believing that the same thing could happen to him thus heading to his companions to see how he can best "test" his life partner before he walking down the aisle.

One of the most hilarious scenes I've ever watched in a movie is when Nathan stages a home-invasion just to see if Julia is willing to die for him. Just this scene alone is worth the price of admission.

What I love most about this movie is that it's so relative. We all have those awkward moments (many of them having to do with our love lives) that make us cringe, and it truly does illustrate how little we actually know the person we plan to spend the rest of our lives with. Overall, this is a great movie with a mix of a ton of laughs and a love story all rolled into one. If you're looking for a pick-me-up or to laugh hysterically, this is undoubtedly the movie for you.

Excruciating

You know how some movies are so bad they're good? Like The Room.

Well, this pushes through that zone and boldly breaks out into the "so bad it's unwatchable".

Just... No. Just, no.

Outrageously funny it is
fighterman17516 March 2015
The Test (2012) brilliantly directed, charmingly witty, and performed with graceful ease by its leading actors. Nathan and Julia have found a delightful chemistry here, and the scenes they share brim with convincing self-awareness and sharp comedic timing.

It's a story about a man and women, fall in love, wanted to spent life with each other, having wonderful moment with each other. As a result of being loved by each other, Nathan proposed Julia on a beach. Julia accepted the proposal. Later Nathan went to bar with his Friends to celebrate. They overwhelmed and congratulated Nathan. Todd, best friend of Nathan said that people only be trusted by test. Todd argued, and Nathan tried to convince him that Julia is the one with whom he can spend rest of life. But when he heard about separation of common friends of them, Nathan freaks out. He started thinking is she really the one for whom Nathan is waiting! Then Nathan discussed with his friends how he can be sure that marrying Julia would be the right decision. Then Nathan started testing Julia to make sure she is the one before they walk down that aisle. Nathan experienced different level of pain doing this.

In the bathroom before her ceremony, she overhears one of her future hubby's friend's talking about what an awesome idea it was and describing all of the tests and she leaves him. Yet she came back to Nathan at the end when she realizes that she also loved him a lot.

Essentially it's a brilliant concept, executed on a micro-budget. Jeremy does an amazing job of writing, directing, and acting. This movie was also different from the rest because it had more stories concerning the characters' love lives. In one particular scene, from the beach scene where Nathan proposes Julia, to the end, it reflects the love, suspicion, romance, depression.

Only reason Jeremy was cast is because he wrote the movie
cbrazzoni5 April 2020
This movie has a decent idea but is ruined by terrible acting. I want to punch Jeremy Seville every time he over acts a stupid scene with his million head and eye movements. He could of written some truly comedic moments with his plot but completely failed to deliver. He should of hired a professional writer, director, and leading actor instead of failing it all himself.

Disgraceful! How can this be rated above a 2?
kursatkoker16 November 2018
Horrible Movie!!!

Bad writing, acting, directing, plot...

Really nothing good! It is a scam of a rating and a movie!

Jeremy Saville, please do not write, direct, or act ANYMORE!

And whoever gave a rating above 2 should not be considered, because their judgement is seriously impaired.

Unrealistic but sometimes funny
lindajams23 March 2018
There's no realistic outcome or truth to this wacky test any real person would engage. Also why is Nate looking for anything in one other person that he can't expect of himself first. Hes deceiving her but expects loyalty from her during these 'tests'. That is why I'm single! ha ha

This is not a romantic comedy
mary-179-67738319 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
1) Jeremy Saville is a terrible actor 2) Jeremy Saville doesn't have leading man characteristics. He isn't fun, charming, attractive, sweet. It's just not believable that someone like Julia would be with Nathan. 3) I could look past the bad acting by Jeremy and the B grade set etc, but not the terrible ending. 4) When you watch a romantic comedy, you want the girl to end up with the dream/perfect guy and go off into the sunset and live happily ever after. However this movie, has the guy who mentally tortured his fiancé end up together in the end. No one wants the girl to end up with the bad guy or the guy thats a bad fit. What next, a movie where the man and woman hit eachother and because they are both dysfunctional then the relationship works and then boom, happy ending, I don't think so. No thanks. I just feel sorry for the girl in this flick. 5) The ending should have been Julia ending up with someone who trusts and appreciates her. 6) With 50% of marriages ending in divorce, people don't want to watch dysfunctional couples get married. So this movie has bad writing bc it implied dysfunctional works for the couple. I also don't feel bad for the Nathan character even once (poor script/acting). The end of the movie just made me sad.

Take it or leave it.
dayael6 January 2018
When I was looking to watch this movie, I was misled by the rating given on IMDB - 6.9. With a rating like that, I was expecting to see a romantic comedy similar to "Just Go With It" or "Life as We Know It." This was not the case.

As soon as the credits began, I could tell that I was about to watch a B-grade movie, but I stayed watching because it had been rated 6.9.

In the second scene of the film, the main idea of the film is given where Jeremy Saville (who directs the film and has incorrectly cast himself as the main character), let's his friends know that he has proposed to His girlfriend. After many congratulations, one of his friends talks about testing his fiance to make sure that she is the woman that will stay with him throughout her life. The idea is great and I was very curious to find out how this idea would play out, plus the movie had been rated 6.9!

Jeremy Saville's acting is similar to Kimmy Gibbler's in Full House - a little overdone and very distracting. I was often more focused on Jeremy Saville's acting than I was on what was happening in the movie, but I stuck it out because people had rated the movie 6.9.

My wife and I eventually saw the final scene, which contained something like a spoof to romantic comedies. This wasn't Jeremy Saville's intention, but the acting was of such a poor standard that I have no other way to describe what I saw.

The movie had moments that were funny and entertaining, but please be aware that it is a low budget movie with poor acting and a disappointing ending. Definitely not worthy of a 6.9 rating.

I only rated it 2 because of the camera and support crew. They worked on it too. Otherwise it's a waste of time.

labellecruz26 April 2022
I just created an account to comment here.

The female is a walking red flag 🚩 So selfish to want a lavish wedding but doesn't even care to give her part. The guy is so pathetic that he is blinded by all this. Their marriage will end in just a few months for sure.

Bad plot.
