Not the best
kymbau24 January 2023
I'm usually ok with Lifetime movies. I know most have repetitive themes but they are usually pretty good. This movie is terrible. The characters make ridiculous decisions. The mother character is supposed to be looking for her daughter who has been kidnapped, but is distracted by falling in love. This is probably the most annoying part of the storyline. It's just not realistic at all. If your kid is missing you would not be worried about kissing & cuddling while out trying to find them. They pass getting help from the police that are always right there.

I'm giving it a 5 because the acting is decent. The actors can't help the story line is terrible.

Sooo bad.

First, growing up very close to Yellowstone, I really was expecting more. I Even tried to give the producers the benefit of the doubt that they could not shoot on location in Yellowstone due to budget constraints. But with all that said, this still turned out to be a crappy film and a poor sell of whatever they used to try and look like Yellowstone. The folage was off, the Park signs and Ranger uniforms were not even close. The town could of maybe fit for West Yellowstone, MT. Maybe. Stock footage of Old Faithful geyser, or Yellowstone Falls might have help sold the location but they did not even do that. Lastly, city and county law enforcement never ever do any murder or criminal investigations in a National Park. National Park Service law enforcement Rangers have jurastiction in all Federal National Park Boundaries. It would have been turned over to them. All these blunders ruined this film and turned what could have been somewhat of a watchable film into a technical diaster. They did no research on this film and it showed.

I FF to the ending. ROTFL!!!
CranberriAppl20 June 2022
First off...this movie is not worth it. I have tried to watch three times since the premiere, and it was so boring, so screechy, that I ended up reading a recap....and discovered the ending. It's the only reason to watch.

How is the fake park ranger the ONLY park ranger we see? I realize parks are huge and have secluded parts, but if the mom (don't even care to know the names of the characters) drove up on an auto shop and they found a restaurant, where are the hikers? The campers? The hunters? The real rangers?

Nothing new here in terms of Lifetime storylines, so don't expect much, but honestly, skip to the last few minutes for a good laugh. This movie seemed like a filler movie.

Bear Valley Revenge
lavatch15 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
There was some beautiful photography of the natural environment of the Rockies that contrasted with the sordid story of kidnapping and torture in Yellowstone.

While the narrative structure was routine, there were good performances and the lively character interaction of the desperate mom Jessie and the cocky auto repairman Grant was the best part of the film. The buoyant dialogue between Jessie and Grant afforded some much needed levity to a grim story.

The one drawback of the film was the sadistic nature of the villain, a young man impersonating a park ranger. Nolan waxes philosophical about the bears in the park. But he and his sick father were the "generational" predators, not the bears. There were too many unpleasant scenes in this film that bordered on the horror genre.

There was one scene stealer in the show: a black bear out for karma. There was also an effective denouement that brought mom and daughter into harmony and offered a nice romantic touch with the wily auto mechanic and his new found love.

This is the worst movie I've ever seen.
reblymar7 December 2022
Horrible acting and the characters were completely unrealistic. They tried REALLY hard to make a suspense movie but you spend the every moment thinking how stupid the plot is. I'm not sure why I suffered through the entire thing.

Mother and daughter both had multiple chances to escape or fight off their attacker, but instead decided to scream or stand around looking afraid. Oh, and leaving him with an armed weapon when you had the chance to grab it was a great move.

Also, the bear....really!? Really!? That was convenient.

I would recommend saving your time and picking something else to watch. You will thank me.

This entire movie is a dumpster fire.

First of all... The Mother -Daughter relationship is ridiculous. Like...she's taking her daughter on the run to escape an abusive husband/father...But, then proceeds to leave her in a car on the side of the road?...sure, she locked her mom out of the car...but really? You'd bust a window and bring them with you, before leaving your angry teenager with a broke down car in the middle of nowhere.

Secondly, when the officer arrives and arrests the mother, doesn't believe her, assumes the daughter ran off....seriously?

I have so much more to say, but I can't even form it into anything... The whole movie is hot garbage. I'm shocked that any streaming service allows it to take up space in their library.

Why YELLOWSTONE?
sterlingmila29 November 2022
I don't understand why they used Yellowstone as the location in this piece of garbage, as none of the scenes even pretend to be shot there, quite obviously. The only reference that is true is that there are bears that you need to look out for (although even the recommendation they give to ward off the bears isn't what we were told to do.).What about all the landscape, the way it looks in general, not to mention the Yellowstone Grand Canyon and Old Faithful? There are no geysers, the plants they use almost look like they're in a rainforest... the hundreds of bison and other wildlife where are they?? And the multitude of tourists and hikers? It's very strange. There's no reason to have it set there, it's not a docuseries, they could have made something up or use a park that isn't so well known or recognizable. Yellowstone is one of the top 3 visited and oldest parks in the country.

The acting wasn't the worst I've ever seen but everything was so silly and predictable...with plot lines that never amounted to anything (what happened to the police at the end? And why even say she was running away from her husband, was it to explain her ability to shoot or use a knife? Why does it look like the mom had her daughter at 10?) Except the ending, which is the only reason I'm giving it 2 stars instead of 1. I really didn't see it coming, and it made me laugh. The sound effect was ridiculous.

I only tuned in because I love the actual Yellowstone. This was just a waste of time.

Predictable But Watchable
singingeaglesoaring12 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The movie was predictable in the action, the character interactions, etc. With a couple of minor exceptions, and one major surprise at the end. Yes, Smokey The Bear is real.

I always enjoy watching the bad guys get it at the end, especially in the volunteer work that I do.

Is "Disappearances in Yellowstone" an Academy Award winner? No, it is not. It is a fun movie to watch, with villainous overacting (the villain was horrible), but the haunting truth of familial serial killer reality gives us food for thought.

For serious students of criminology, this movie may not be for you, but it is fun.

Lifetime makes good movies.. this isnt one
familyofcats-2145828 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
They couldn't find more appropriately aged actresses? The daughter already has smile line wrinkles ffs. She was 24 making this movie playing a 17yo. Couldnt find an 18yo? The mom, typical over lip fillered bimbo was 29 making this movie. So she had her kid at 5yo? I am so tired of hollywood casting too young of women in roles.. esp when 35+ actresses struggle to get work.. That aside on to the movie itself. The acting is atrocious. ATROCIOUS. Lifetime can be cheesey bt lately they had been doing better. What a nightmare.

The mother and daughter are unlikeable. You cannot root for the main characters AT ALL. We laughed when the daughter got kidnapped. Was rooting for the mom to be atrested... and i stg if my daughter locked the car on me and put her earbuds in?? She would WISH she got kidnapped. I would have busted that window and rung her bell right tf there.

Also her husband was abusive so she took her daughter?? She kidnaps a 17yo? Why not.. oh idk go to the police? Why dont u alr have custody? It makes 0 sense. Besides that wait a few months shes 18 anyways.

Usual LMN crap
haroot_azarian14 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Fact check! How many parents concerned and worried about their missing possibly kidnapped child would remotely fall in love and screw a total stranger who they have just met? Albeit the stranger is a good samaritan and is helping the apparently concerned parent to locate their child? That was the biggest put off for me and went further and beyond typical LMN unrealistic made-for-tv thriller movies!

The samaritan in his own way was a creep who from the outset had set his eyes on getting into the concerned parent's panties, which he managed to do with not a lot of effort (fist bump). The psycho antagonist played by I don't even remember his name was just awfull. The guy overdid his part to the point that it made me laugh! Anyway, Lucie, if you love acting then you should carefully choose the roles that you want to take. Unless you're desperate for money and will accept anything your agent throws at you. One contributor talked about mother and daughter being obnoxious. To tell the truth their obnoxiousness did not bother me, but what I highlighted bothered me. Yeah, so I do not recommend this garbage unless you get to see it for free, not worth subscribing or pay-per-view to watch it. As with 99 percent of LMN movies I am not rating this, unless IMDb decides to add another 10 ratinngs below zero!
