A Dull Movie Which Has A Lot to Say

Warning: Spoilers
Ela and Hilmi and Ali actually focuses on Hilmi's story much more than the story of these three people. Hilmi is someone who has always dreamed of achieving something but did not have the courage to achieve it. For years, he won the best departments of the best universities, proudly framed them and hung them, but never had the courage to study them and go. He will not be able to fly a plane all his life, but he continues his life with simulation of a plane, maybe he can fish if he goes out, but he chooses to stay at home and keep it as a game because he does not have the courage. So is his love life, when lonely and helpless Ela comes across him, he marries her because he is not brave enough to go out and communicate with someone like in real life.

On the other hand, Ela and Ali, are actually children, especially Ela, who is dull, silent, obviously had to face another trauma before she could experience her trauma. She is married to his teacher. She lost family after the earthquake and then married someone older than himself. Even when talking on the phone with his aunt, we can see that she does not even know what happened actually, because he has not faced these facts yet, only while emptying the broom, the dust suddenly reminds him of his memories of earthquake and collapse.

Even at the end of the movie, we see the control freak Hilmi's scientific explanations for why the balloon burned while the house was on fire, we see that Hilmi devoted his life to controlling it. While the house is on fire, they don't even have the courage to break their order and run away from the house, whereas Ali and Ela have the courage and real life experience to run away without blinking their eyes.

Because that house was a house for Hilmi and nothing but a wire cage for Ela.

However, it is very difficult to get into the movie, we get away from the movie trying to understand what it is telling and trying to figure out what some meaningless camera shots mean. Since we can't get into the main subject, we always keep a distance from the film.
