low key, funny bits from his own life.
ksf-212 September 2022
Wang has written a few things and acted in a few roles. It's probably even harder to write and perform standup in front of a large crowd, exposing your true self to the audience and to the camera. Finding that combination of timing and humor to make people laugh. Jokes on timing your health care, basketball, and buying things. How our take on stores changes as we get older. Funny jokes and great delivery ! I agree with the other two reviews here... really great stuff! I hope wang keeps on keeping on, and records more standup shows. He is introduced and directed by fellow standup ali wong. Or maybe they could do combination show together?

Incredibly clever, light-hearted, and playful comedy

Warning: Spoilers
This special is amazing! Sheng's tone and towards life is very entertaining and has me laughing at every joke. His outlook on life is very intriguing and catches your attention. His varied topics never have you bored, and his jokes on those topics never fall flat. From the first minute he is killing it with incredibly clever and smart observations on things like lotion and Costco. This moves on to topics that may even bring you to rethink things, such as exercise and staying healthy. Sheng Wang: Sweet and juicy is a great special that definitely doesn't have enough eyes on it. Sheng has made me a fan, and I can't wait to see what he does next.

Genius!

Insightful, smooth, cerebral, intelligent, cool as cucumber and very refreshing. Every single joke landed without missing a beat. Passive aggressive brilliance! So I truly don't understand the lower ratings. There are a few Asian comics/ standup currently and it's encouraging to enjoy a more sophisticated presentation of entertainment from Sheng's brand of material. He seems unassuming with his laid back delivery and his astute observation on simple day to day mundane humanity is surprisingly humorous and quietly implosive. You go brother, you got more than the usual unboxing to go far. Time will tell what separates the good expensive eye cream from Cosco! Salom!

Why are not more people talking about it?

3 user reviews for a stand up that actually makes you chuckle throughout. Thanks, Ali, for bringing out a talent that stayed in the shadows for far too long. He is right amount of quirky, right amount of laid back, right amount of mundane and unbelievable amount of funny. The set is so tightly written, one bit after the other keeps on coming and almost all of them lands. Unlike other comedians of Asian origins, Sheng does not appeal to his racial identity or point of view in the construct of his jokes, he keeps the jokes perfectly general. Also, he is sometimes observational, sometimes imaginative and always lyrical. Good job Netflix. Again, nice work, Ali.

My virtual standing ovation to Sheng. You are in my personal list of favorite comedians now.

Could not stop BELLY LAUGHING!
jacqui-8826415 September 2022
My friend and I put this on tonight for background noise but from start to end we watched Sheng and LOAO!! He's our new favorite comedian. Looking forward to Shengs next stand up special!! Laughed so much we counted our belly laughs as our ab workout for the week. 😋 Every skit we could relate too. I mean really relate to! I love a good deal and was just at Costco last night and my friend and I were like scavengers in the clearance clothes tables. We both had to stop each other to not buy anything bc most of our clothes of late have been from Costco. I said to her we need to stop bc we are getting way to comfortable with a Costco wardrobe. We need to start shopping around! Lol.

Hilarious can relate to nearly all of it

Warning: Spoilers
When I saw Ali Wong presents i had to check this out, I love her specials and her writing and now directing. These jokes had me dying, jeans at Costco, basketball at the park for 8 yrs and don't know anyone's last name, and the crem de la crem the eye cream bit using the ring finger (it does nothing else you see) just slayed me. 10/10 this set was fkn great! Netflix does it again with the comedy on a Friday night. Yessir. Highly recommended, especially if you are an Ali Wong fan or like to laugh or like dudes with luxurious locks of love. Oh and briefs. Mfin briefs yo! When you gotta go from boxers of your youth to the dependability of the brief.

Sheng delivered the jokes
jl_rogers12 March 2023
I'm always checking out, "new to me", comedians. Most don't make it past the five minute mark. Sheng's content is well researched, developed, and delivered with comedic perfection. Feel like I struck gold hitting the play button. Thank you for the balls of mutiny to not give up in such a brutal line of work, Sheng! I love stand up and excited to have a new favorite on my bucket list. Also, his hair is amazing. I was entranced and laughing, like an insane person when watching. Worth it. Looking forward to more to come!

Don't want to risk revealing spoilers, but, his observational comedy is on-point. It's relevant. He's subject matter is broad and very intelligent. We gotta keep those fridge top fossil fuels an option.

Best Netflix standup show ever
mt-0357311 March 2023
100% recommend Sheng Wang's special. He has a lot of relatable jokes that almost every person can get them and laugh about. It's not the type of standup that curse or shout a lot to "make" it sound funny. Plus, it's not about transgender, homosexual or any PC stuff, not saying these topics are bad but they've been overused. He has nothing to preach on the audience.

Anyway, Sheng's show is fun to watch whether you are alone or with your family. I've watched it twice within a week, thanks Ali for bringing out this talented guy who seemed struggle for a while. I am already looking for his second special!

Not my cup of tea...
paul_haakonsen15 November 2023
I stumbled upon the 2022 stand-up comedy special "Sheng Wang: Sweet and Juicy" while looking through the available stand-up comedy shows on Netflix. And never having heard about Sheng Wang before, I opted to sit down and watch the show and see what he had to offer.

And I have to admit that his particular style of comedy was not particularly compatible with my sense of humor. Sheng Wang didn't make me laugh once throughout the course of the 60 minutes that the show ran for. So it was somewhat of a swing and a miss for me to sit through this stand-up comedy show.

It should be noted that Sheng Wang did feel at home on the stage, as it was something that came natural to him, and he certainly was capable of making the audience laugh. So it wasn't that he wasn't funny, but his comedy talents just didn't appeal to my taste. I found that he appeared sluggish and everything was in slow motion, so I was desperately lacking some in-your-face energy from Sheng Wang.

Without being brought to laughter, then I have to say that sitting through 60 minutes of the show felt rather prolonged and slow. I can't claim that I am in any rush to go out and watch more of Sheng Wang's shows, if there are any.

My rating of "Sheng Wang: Sweet and Juicy" lands on a three out of ten stars.
