A Great Premise
enterzec31 July 2017
The pilot episode of the legal drama Suits is a really strong start for the series. The pilot is 80 minutes long which is basically two episodes, that provides the creators a greater chance of creating a solid ground for the series to start of with and they really managed to do just that. This was an excellent made pilot who introduces us to these wonderful characters.

The chemistry is their instantly between the Harvard lawyer Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) and his new associate Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams). The banter between the two of them is absolute gold and their continued reference of movies is really fun to be a part of. We see both respect, competition and some quirky comments between Harvey and Jessica Pearson (Gina Torres).

The chemistry between the characters is what makes the episode a strong start for Suits. The supposed chemistry between Mike and Rachel Zane (Meghan Markle) wasn't there really for me in the first episode but it will most likely built on in forthcoming episodes. Louis Litt (Rick Hoffman) really seems like sort of a snake and his schemes going forward is going to be fascinating.

Score: 9/10 (Amazing)

"Suits," Season 1, Episode 1: "Pilot" (2011) is a professionally produced comedy drama about brilliant college dropout, Mike Ross played by Patrick Adams, as he unconventionally meets lawyer Harvey Specter, played by Gabriel Macht, and lands himself a job after a drug deal gone bad. This episode is 72 minutes of gripping storylines and excellent acting. Mike, the lovable loser, and Harvey, the overconfident egotistical winner, are a match made in heaven. Their acting abilities are so good, I forget that I am watching a television show and thus fail to view it objectively. I feel like I have been snatched along for the ride.

This pilot is captivating and has the layers to allow it to proceed in any direction desired. Not only did this pilot convince me to watch further episodes, it is single-handedly the reason I make time to watch other television shows. This shows formula, of two storylines within one episode, allows viewers to have closure of one at the end, but keeps them wondering about the second. This is a great show and I highly recommend it to anyone who have given up on television.

A decade in the making
GraXXoR1 May 2021
What a remarkably gripping pilot this was. Lawyer dramas, procedurals and "cop shows" are absolutely not my cup of tea, but somehow this show hooked me in... what an outlier.. a decade later and one member of the royal family in tow.... what a show!

The batman meets his robin. What else do you want. The moment Mike Ross meets Harvey Specter, Harvey knows that he has met himself

Very Intriguing Start
setokaiba23820 March 2021
The dialogue in the beginning was so predictable, overthought to the point that it didn't even sound like real people talking, and cheesy that I was initially sure that I was going to give this a six. Then about halfway through this story really picks up. It's giving us a solid peek behind the curtain as to some of the tricks unethical people use to cover their tracks and the characters were noticeably more likable by the end of the episode than they were in the beginning. Solid start.

Suits 1x01... like its lead, has potential.
BecauseIveSeenItAll24 June 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Suits is the latest show from the network that brought us Burn Notice, White Collar and a slew of other character based Summer shows. It falls short because it is held to such a pedigree though it has potential all on its own. The show is led by a young, brash but naive genius Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams) who spends his life taking entrance exams for other people following his expulsion from school for cheating. Requiring $25,000 to care for his grandmother (in case you weren't convinced he was a nice guy), Mike almost repeats his college disaster by almost selling drugs to cops. Luckily he stumbles his way into a lawyer's (Don Draper-esque Gabriel Macht) associate interviews and entertains him to such a degree he is hired.

Very Good Beginning
Hitchcoc7 July 2023
I almost stopped watching because I am so tired of the drug angles of so many shows. The drugs and the drinking got me a bit annoyed in Succession (a great show by the way). But once we got to the real gist of things, the drug peddling became a crutch. What we have then is a wunderkind with an eidetic memory who finagles his way into a big law firm as an associate to that firm. He has never been to law school but has passed the bar. Both male characters are very good and a chemistry begins to show almost immediately. There are two women as well, a law clerk, and the boss, both of whom are quite formidable. Everything rests on a pro bono case of sexual abuse and it is handled very well.

Good show to binge watch
mcleodjack2 May 2018
I needed something to binge watch and found "Suits." Most shows take at least 3 episodes to build a following, so I gave it the 3 show minimum. I am just now finishing Season 7. I would say that 14 out of 16, on average, shows kept my interest. It's not one of these shows where the main characters win their case every week, so it's more believable than "The Good Wife."

One thing I absolutely could not stand was the music. It was extremely heavy on The Fray and bands like them, and there is only so much I can take of that melodramatic genre before I wanted to puke. But instead, I just turned the volume off or way down.

If you like courtroom drama mixed with interesting characters, give "Suits" a shot.

Potential
brandonneicke17 July 2022
First of all I couldn't focus After the main character was gonna be paid $25,000.00 to deliver about $10,000.00 worth of marijuanna. Simple research could prevent these mistakes. The guy who plays Harvey has a strange voice. Like he's trying to overact. This show has some descent writing and acting so I will give it another chance.

Hired Without The Education, Pro Bono Case (Sexual Harassment)
vivianla12 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Mike is writing the law school entrance exam for another student and the professor looks suspiciously at him. He manages to throw away his accessories worn during the exam and places the royal blue baseball cap on someone else's head. Mike gets paid only half of what the deal was and the client says what are you going to do? Go call the police. Lol.

We see Mike Ross and his best friend and his best friend's blonde gf. I love her blonde shoulder-length hair.

Harvey Spector and his boss celebrate at a bar. I love the professional atmosphere and dialogue. The waitress and Harvey strike up a conversation and Harvey asks when does she get off. Linda replies she will never go out with him and leaves to Harvey's embarrassment.

Harvey wakes up in his apartment with huge windows overseeing the city. Linda is in his bed in black underwear. She looks like an average woman, maybe in her thirties. Linda goes on top of him and makes out with him. Harvey is given a pro bono case (case for the public good) which is a sexual harassment case - Jessica wants him to contribute to the company's caring aspect of their reputation.

Mike is told by the doctor that he has to pay for his grandma's rent at the long-term care home. The fee is 25000 dollars and Mike agrees to his friend's offer about meeting people to take the weed to. The friend is threatened by a guy with a gun and is unable to warn Mike that it may be police after him.

Mike goes to the hotel and asks if the pool is open and the time to the hotel employees. Meanwhile Harvey Spector is having interviews done to find his associate. He climbs down the stairway to avoid them and comes to the location of the interview.

During the interviews Donna is disgusted with the males they are to interview - she tells one that he is the whitest man she has ever seen and to another she asks what happened to him, he looks 11. He replies puberty did not hit him until later.

Donna is pleased to see Mike who is another version of Harvey basically. She offers drinks for him politely. Mike goes in to see Harvey and Harvey is interested in their conversation but replies he cannot hire Mike as he has no Harvard law degree. Mike shows off his amazing ability with reading content and being able to spit it back out and his comprehension skills. Harvey peeks out to check out the other males waiting to be interviewed - they all look very young and naive. Harvey announces Mike is hired.

Mike's grandma tells him she wants him to stop what he is doing, she is not an idiot. She wants him to live up to his potential.

Mike shows up at work and hits on Rachel Zane immediately. Throughout the episode Harvey gives suggestions on Mike's appearance - his tie is too skinny, his suits, shave.

Mike goes to the place Harvey told him to go to buy suits. He is greeted by Rene and asked for his inseam - Mike replies he thinks it is a medium. The female crouches down making Mike feel awkward and measures with her measuring tape. She walks away in a tight black skirt and Mike checks out her butt.

Harvey realizes that the woman they were trying to get to speak on the case is a fake set up by the other party. He approaches her at her home about it. In a court room Harvey and Mike approach the opposition about them setting up a fake. Harvey shows proof he is close with the attorney - he was the best man at his wedding and shows a photo of the bachelor party. Harvey calls the bachelor party lame as there were no strippers.

Mike gives back the briefcase filled with weed to his friend.

Pilot
Prismark109 April 2020
Another series about rich smarmy lawyers with expensive suits. We know Harvard educated Harvey Specter has one.

Harvey keeps criticising his new associate Mike Ross's cheap suits. Even though Mike mentions his money woes. He was not drug dealing for the benefit of his health.

Harvey is the best closer of law deals in the city. Arrogant and successful but lacking compassion. He has been promoted as the senior partner in his prestigious law firm.

Mike is a university drop out, he passes exams for money. A photographic memory and running away from cops brings him into contact with Harvey who is looking for a new legal associate. Mike has the skill sets that other Harvard law graduates do not have. Ducking and diving.

In this pilot, I reckon Suits is really going to be about Mike Ross and how he progresses with the firm. Harvey is basically any other hot shot lawyer who you can find in these glossy American legal dramas.
