Spectrobes: Beyond the Portals is a great adventure game.
This sequel to the original game, Spectrobes, is a great action/adventure game to play. The plot of the game is intriguing, the graphics were greatly improved, and the game-play is fun and entertaining. Unlike in the previous game made a year before where there is a top-down view of your character, in this game the camera angle is greatly improved as it is now slightly lower and you are able to adjust the camera position. This improved camera angle makes the game more aesthetically appealing. Following its preceding game's plot of the Krawl invading the Nanairo Galaxy; now they are invading again after many years of peace, but are much more powerful than before. This game has the same thrill of excavating minerals and fossils from the ground, and battling enemy Krawl in vortexes with your Spectrobes. It also introduces combat outside of vortexes with your character, Rallen, battling Krawl Dust. However, a minor problem with this game is that you can only save at your ship. This may become a problem if you forget to return to your ship and save before turning off your DS. Another minor problem is the beginning of the game tutorials. When you first start the game, the game-play is fairly slow until you complete the in-game tutorials.
Overall, Spectrobes: Beyond the Portals is a great and fun game with only a few cons that I recommend to play.
